I am a Chelsea fan and have been for nearly 57 years when I was 3 years old. I have been to Chelsea fc away games since 1982 so I have been to many stadiums not only here in England but also in Scotland and abroad when Chelsea fc first got into Europe back in 2000 onwards. As i said I have been to many stadiums and my favourite away ground was Goodison Park which has not only a great Atmosphere but something magical and special about it. I of course wanted Chelsea to win but your ground Goodison Park was a winner in my eye, i just absolutely loved it so much because it has so much history, the stadium inside and out is just beautiful and the noise that Everton and us Chelsea fans made was just incredible and it was just like doing a bungee jump or parachuting for the first time, you just want to go back and do it again. Goodison Park to me even as a Chelsea fan is the best thing to visit in Liverpool, and even though I am not a Everton fan i will miss Goodison Park so much and I will shed a tear but I will have those incredible memories of the greatest Football ground in the history of England with also the old Wembley Stadium. Your new Stadium looks nice and pretty but it is not the same, many Football clubs in England have left their own old ground for the new state of the art stadium but it's all gone Pete Tong, Arsenal's new stadium the Emirates is more like a library, West Ham with the London stadium is ugly and it's all gone wrong since leaving Upton Park, Tottenham's new Stadium cost them a fortune that they don't have plus they like West Ham are not as good as they were at White Hart Lane. Football Club's leaving their home for a brand new Stadium isn't the best thing to do and a lot of times it works out to be the worst decision ever made either financially or playing. Goodison park is as you say a magnificent stadium of it’s time with all its history and memories…legends of the game over the decades have come and gone and graced the stadium but time moves on and new memories will be made in time. The new stadium will enhance the already world famous Liverpool river Mersey waterfront with all its rich history and heritage, the new stadium is sympathetic to that history and will be a amazing addition for generations to come.

I enjoyed reading this.I agree that some of the old stadiums were special.in particular Highbury with its Art Deco facades and historic place in English football. West Ham and Spurs were also great. We still have Fulham and Stamford Bridge which are good too.
I think Goodison has many memories for football and family reasons for me, as with most others, but I am happy to be moving to the new ground which has been designed in a good way with the fans in mind, nice design and of course the location on the river and close proximity to the city centre for enjoyment and transport links,take care

What are the gaps in the barrel section plates on the West Stand? Is that damage?

Gaps are for ventilation ducts
