    Ghana isn’t far from Nigeria. It’s not really crazy to think your mom’s family moved from Nigeria to Ghana especially since the Europeans purposefully moved tribes around to confuse them during colonization.
    What’s more profound to see is that you’re 100% African.

    In some DNA tests people get categorized as Congolese even if they are angolan because the Angolan and Congolese DNA is very similar. *ESPECIALLY* since it used to be a United kingdom long before colonialism (where a lot countries were split). The same goes for a lot of other countries. So it's still possible to be Ghanaian.
    In some DNA tests they don't differentiate between the two and name both of them together. So they'll say you are x% Ghanaian/Nigerian.

    They can't identify specific African countries. For Nigeria it mostly means Yoruba DNA. MyHeritage is a new DNA testing company. They don’t have as much data as the other leading ones like Ancestry or 23nMe, so they are viewed to give out less accurate and precise estimates because of it. I know that in a couple of years because of their Population Project they will have more ethnicities in their database so her results might change.

    • @deannajoseph708
      @deannajoseph708 5 років тому +5

      eh I think theirs was most accurate for me. Ancestrydna gave me an update changed all my results I was 4% nigerian now I'm 40% cameroon and 5% cameroon before 1% nigeria now. They gave me no north african.... I got 92% ssa 7% euro and 1% native before update 90%% most other places put my ssa in the 80% 83-88% is the norm... And all other places mention west african east african and north africa mixture.

    • @MlleRosePark
      @MlleRosePark 5 років тому +2

      Totally agree - they have 10 Ethnical results for the whole African continent and 7 are for Sub Saharan regions... that's not a lot at all. Plus its not very acurate specially for the Nigerian one. I've done the test as well and ever since I feel like every black person who's taking the test with MyAncestryDNA we have almost the same results. (My parents are from Haiti and moved to France, and I got a lot of Nigerian (approx 47), 25 Sierra Leone and 21 Kenya, 1something Central Africa, 3,5 Scandinavian and 1 something Persian) so aaaalmost the same lol.
      I would definitely do it again w/ Ancestry for more detail on that Nigerian % but its complicated because they don't deliver to France (dna test are forbidden here) ...

      tsuyu asui for bioethics reasons home dna test are banned. No French labs are authorized as well to commercialize, promote their Dna test... only way you can do one is via asking permission to a court justice for special reasons (paternity test, adoption or something). They want to keep it that way because they are scared of what companies /labs can do with such private datas. The government is worried of what one can learn from it and how it can deeply affect a person. But mostly because professionals aren’t ready to provide adequate guidance (for medical results I mean... your results can say you are most likely to get this or that cancer and that’s it you are left alone to deal with it- some specialist Will acknowledge the result a bit too much like its absolute truth and some won’t at all and won’t take it seriously)
      Oulala it’s so long sorry :) anyway until they haven’t raise a law to very put limits to it all home test are banned :/

    I get so tired of people saying dna companies are going to do something nefarious with their dna, if the law wanted your dna they have many ways to obtain it without you being tested at dna companies.

    MyHeritage is much less accurate because its a smaller database to test against. Check out Ashanti Queens video. She compares MyHeritage and Ancestry DNA. MyHeritage showed like 56% Nigerian and 0% Ghanaian, Ancestry DNA showed 48% Ivory Coast/Ghana and 48% Benin/Togo but only 2% Nigeria, which makes sense (would have thought her Nigerian % would have been higher though). Ancestry DNA are able to narrow it down better than most of these companies because their database is huuuuge

      Bint Yousseff Greetings. You should know that MyHeritage is considered the worst in all these vendors who provides “estimates” of one’s ancestry. As one genetic genealogist has argued, she wouldn’t take ANY of these “estimates” seriously. They are not “factual”. It’s simply for “entertainment purposes only.” Also, many genetic genealogists have argued that you need to forget estimates and focus on genetic cousin matches (especially 4th or closer) as they will give you the most insight into your ancestry.

    Now you can download the raw DNA and put it through DNAland and gedmatch genesis for free and get much more detailed reports.
    On GG they will also match you with relatives who took the test with other companies.
    And as for the high Nigerian, you have to remember that Nigeria, Ghana, Benin and Togo was all one country at one point.

    The problem with Africans is that they always value one Nation over another when they're mixed withother African Nations as well. You can be born to Congolese parents then you find out they're not really Congolese but from Rwanda, Uganda etc and when you do the test you shook but people know the truth and dont wanna tell you the truth about your background

    Even if you are in fact 100% Ghanaian this test wouldn't show it because Ghana is not a region on this test. On this test "Nigeria" probably encompasses several countries in central and west Africa including Ghana. Because of this, if I were you I would only take the continental breakdown of this MyHeritage test seriously and not the country breakdown.
