Thanks for watching!
Bob, you’re fantastic! I love how you watch out for your followers on limited income by being honest and truthful, not being biased on all your reviews and telling it like it is! Kudos to ACOPower for donating a nice fridge to give away!
I have this exact model. I guess I'm one of the guys that it's perfect for. Have used it non-stop for over 10 months without a hiccup. The compressor is rock solid. I love the handle and wheels for moving it around the campsite. Decent capacity too. I don't just use it for camping. At home, it's an emergency prep backup fridge with a variety of food and liquids we'd want to have. When the power goes out, like it did last week, the LionCooler just keeps going with no manual intervention. Or when we're camping and I have it on a Bluetti for days-long hands-off operation, if I need to move the Bluetti to where the sun will hit the solar panels, the built-in battery just keeps going.
Can we all take a moment and appreciate how he always says "my next.......VIDEO.. lol love it bob!
I would buy that for me. I need something for power outages and tent camping. Thanks Bob
And the wheels are a great addition also. My cheap 12v fridge is a little heavy to move around with food in it.
I feel like this would be a good choice for the type of people who always want a backup, in case you lose power from a problem in your electrical system or something and want the peace of mind that you will have a battery back up for your food.
Love all the new animations at the beginning of your videos
I also love the dog at the end pointing to the thumbs up, subscribe and notification buttons. 😄 Made me smile.
Thank you for once again giving all perspectives on a product. I really appreciate that you give all pros/cons and consider everyone’s price point - it’s very helpful and much appreciated
Love the animated preview of Bob Wells beginning of video.
Everything about you Bob is A-OK with me.
Always good to see options reviewed - this is the first time I have heard of a travel fridge with built-in battery. Everybody has different needs and preferences and finances so it is great for us to see all the options out there.
I think this will be excellent for people who live in a house and go to the beach or park for the day. And after natural disaster when power is out. I live in tropical area. We commonly use ice box with ice. This lion fridge is heaps good idea. Thank you.
The mountains behind you are GLORIOUS!
As a prepper I think I would really love to have one of those!
This is better than a battery station. You can put this kind of fridge in your vehicle and run it while you driving. And when you stop driving, it would run on its own for 12 hours.
This is a fridge for camping. For making longer trips at different locations.
A fridge that have to rely on the car vehicle power can get very, very expensive because of the gas. So in a way you saving money.
You could buy a second battery cartridge to mitigate running your vehicle when you are not driving.
So overtime, it pays for itself.
Thanks for the great content Bob. Very well done. Glad to see you are doing great
The problem with cheap 200-300 amp hour separate "solar generator" battery pack is that most of them do not have a regulated 12V power port. So the cooler will shut off way before the battery is actually empty because the voltage has dropped below the level to power the cooler. Regulated batteries are usually more expensive.
Yep. If you want a 12v compressor fridge. And be able to run it. You are going to have to shell out $900+. Thems the breaks.
You can build your own solar powered generator for cheaper with better quality and make the 12 volt cigarette port regulated. That's a nice portable 12 volt refrigerator but is pretty expensive.
Most are regulated and have been since late 2021 not to say non aren't still made.
I appreciate your honest reviews. 👍
Can I just say how much I love the new intro???
Every time I hear it, I can’t help but snap my fingers, tap my feet and dance! Bob Wells absolutely ROCKS!
Love the new intro! Especially the eagle
When did you paint the ambulance? Love the color - just raptor lined my entire van in the same color!!
Thanks for always thinking of " on the budget" helps a lot.
"This is always the fun part that I hate." 🤣🤣 I agree 100%! The solar panel is smaller but the fridge looks huge. Good review, I agree with your assessment of who it works for.
Hi 👋 Bob and community! Great 👍 update and information! Thank you 🙏 for sharing! Best wishes!
One 52 quart Ozark Trail cooler from Walmart $134.00 , 1 Rubbermaid wire dish Strainer $10.82 works well as additional basket for cooler. 2 ten pound blocks of ice about $4.00 Thee blankets or a sleeping bag to wrap cooler in. Fill the remaining area with foods ice will last about five days sometime a little bit longer depending on how hot it is. After that do you have your canned foods, dried foods, apples, snacks, till you decide to go shopping again and pick up more ice. Works Like a charm. Doesn’t make any noise doesn’t break and never draws the batteries down. 🙃
Yeah that sounds like a lot of fun. Hey Bob grab me another beer but don't forget to wrap the three layers of blankets and the sleeping bag around the cooler. What do you mean Bob the ice melted and soaked everything in the bottom. Good luck with that
Love your videos, I don’t comment to much but I appreciate that you always give us the truth to the best of your knowledge no BS like others. I’m glad you did this video, I think It is a great idea to have an internal battery which in my opinion leaves us more options for our other power stations. I will definitely be checking this unit out . I wonder if they have different battery options ? Thanks Bob
Yeah if you were to buy a Engel, Bluetti EB70 and a descent 100w panel you wouldn't have to worry about it for a LONG time. It'd be the best money you'd ever spend on a vanlife setup. Yeah the intial cost would be well above buying a cheap setup. But over the longterm you pay less.
I think a value not mentioned in the video of this fridge with the battery is as a backup to your main system. If your main power system stops working for whatever reason your fridge is still working on the internal battery for a time. Its like a fridge ups.
Can you do a tube on a battery station for the mechanically challenged van dweller? Thanks
Bob, another great review..thanks...we nomads are grateful, for people like u..thanks again..
Gypsy J van camping
The intro is the BEST
I’m staying with my Engel 45 and my Bluetti ac200p.
This seems like a sweet fridge. First, as mentioned by by Sharon Monre this has a regulated battery. And I would not mind being able to pull my fridge out and around a camp fire or with outdoor guests then tuck it in at night. And knowing my fridge has its own battery don't have to sweat it wondering if it will be running at night draining my resurves. Plus can charge it separately. See some great advantages.
For RV Living this is one thing. But for people who need it say for job sites in my case acting sets its pretty useful. I use Acopower station in my van. Love their product and was cheap for 400w.
I like the paint job on your home Bob.
Looks like a good fridge if that is what someone needs but it's not for me, I have an RV with a refrigerator so I'll leave it so to someone to win. Keep the good stuff coming Bob.
Great review. Thanks you. Band of Brothers and Sisters 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I want one on those Lion Cooler fridges!!
Bob, it would be amazing if makita would send you one of their new 18v coolers to test..
Another great video Bob and crew!
Bob your recommendation to buy a cheap cooler with an auxiliary battery. Is not the way to go. I tried that in the cheap cooler will suck mass amounts of watt hours. I have the lion cooler it is very efficient. It is the quietest and most efficient. When you're traveling you simply plug the cooler into your vehicle, and it only runs off the vehicle. Every time you stop the cooler kicks in automatically to its internal battery keeping the food optimal temp. You get back in your vehicle continue your travel and the battery is turned off and saved and it runs off the vehicle again. Your suggested alternative which I've done is just an obstacle nightmare. Cheap coolers take way more wattage and battery life and this cooler this is actually the best most economical. I challenge you or anyone I will meet you in the desert and will we we will have a chill off with our coolers and battery packs
Thank you so much for your honest review.
Thank you so very much for sharing Bob. Awesome 👍❤️
Love the new "intro"!
I've been running my 1988 dometic on my battery with 200w solar for 2 years. Now if they made a solar deep freeze...
I Like the New Paint job on Your Rigg
It'd fill some folks needs no doubt. As good as echo may be, I'll stick with my Engels and Renogy dc-dc system. Cost twice what this unit does though. Thought I saw a USB charging port on top or that unit...?
Shadow Mountain for a backdrop...
I have one of those 12 v colman coolers. it works for me. but i also do most of my camping i in the winter ,sp i'm more trying to keep my stuff from freezing
Thanks fir the review Bob. I have the same setup as you. Big bluetti and an engel cooler. Nothing better.
Did you order this on Amazon
Love the new intro🙂👍
How much insurance do you pay to drive a camper ambulance truck?
Love you Bob! Nice to see you.
I like your new intro!!!
Do you think the refrigeration pump could withstand the bouncing of a semi if I put it in my semi truck? Or the bouncing of having it in a boat?
As always Bob, good job on the video. I keep looking for a good review on collection of SMALL frigs. Something around half of this one. Yes, yes, I know you won't be able to put much inside, but that's the attraction of the small frigs. You won't be able to put much inside, so you'll waste less and use up resources faster. Plus you aren't trying to fill it up, cause it's more economical that way. Basically I'm not really finding a need for a 50 qt frig. If there was 2 or more peeps I'm dealing with, maybe. Right now it's something 20-25qt.
Excellent review .
I wonder if we can make way to work with rechargeable style parkside style battery! That woud be an inovation!
What is the most electrically efficient fridge for van life? Ie which one is good but uses very little power?
Hello Bob. Thanks for the review. Love your lifestyle. Have you been able to freeze water? Could you keep steaks frozen? Did you ever test the fridge temp with an internal thermometer?
I keep a thermometer in my house fridge so when I got my first 12v Cooler freezer(Rockpals) this month I threw it inside as part of my testing. I knew the brand from their solar panels so gave them a shot on a great amazon sale. The Rockpals does not have a battery but looks almost exactly like this AcoPower. The Rockpals is rated to -4F and it would go down to 28F in under an hour according to it's screen, however my themostat barely dipped below 40. I found the display on the unit was usually 10+ degrees too high. I tested in my house, 110v, and filled the cooler half full with stuff from my freezer + a room temp water bottle. 24hrs later the water was not frozen so I know the display temp was not right. I notified Rockpals of this and they are sending me a replacement unit. We shall see if it works better. I originally wanted one of these Acopower's and was sorry I missed some of the early pricing around $340. They were $200 off during an amazon sale last month but I didn't pull the trigger. I found Acopower's new model with the bigger removable battery with usb ports and wanted that. I believe the new Acopower is on sale for %30 off on their website right now(~$550). However, today Amazon had the X40a for $143 and I couldn't pass that up. I should have two cooler freezers to test soon now...lol. They better freeze things!!!
Hmm... this might be something that works for me. It looks like I might have to move into a van much earlier than I was planning to and this would be a great stepping stone until I can afford setting up a dedicated solar system. I know it's a bit of an expensive mid-step, but having a fridge would be a huge increase in quality of life compared to not having a fridge.
Edit: Actually, after finishing the video, I feel that splitting the battery and fridge would probably be a better idea...
So, did you buy an Engel fridge after getting the JoyTutus $270 one he bought? The JoyTutus he said he bought after his truck fridge died? Was the JoyTutus having problems and that's why he bought the Engel?
Can you charge the battery via solar or power pack while the fridge is running?
Hi, great vid btw. Also, I just brought this acopower, I'm going to buy a 10 or 25 watt solar panel, but. Is it necessary to buy a Charge Controller?
Does Amazon deliver to Quartzite?
I’m trying to find out if there are Amazon lockers there or in Parker or if a store is a pickup location 😊
You explain everything very well
Happy Thanksgiving Day :)
Does the cooler always come with a solar panel?
That is a lot of money!
I bought one of the portable fridges and it shorted out my system. Guess I'm looking at a blue Eddie
thanks for this vid.
Cool vid...and NO dislikes...amazing
so, how many hours running was that?
Thank you
Are you still using the small 26 quart Joytutus?
That’s the unit that I’m looking to purchase!
When do anmounce winners of your Sweepstakes you have??
Mine shows a full battery and works while plugged in. It doesn't work at all unless it's charging. Which defeats the purpose of the fridge. The company charges an outrageous amount to ship it back for a refund and they block any negative reviews and customer service is non existent. Highly suggest avoiding this unless you want to throw away hundreds of dollars.
on the out side it looks ok,, i would never buy one as i have a home being house bound,, it still is a cool item ut i ust dont need any thing like this as i can not even get a car,, van,, or truck
Looks like a copying machine how many papers can It copy at one time LoL!
Anyone know where Ma Terri and Miss Lucy are?
@kat kin She just suddenly disappeared! Hope all is well with her and Miss Lucy. Don't know any way to contact her then remembered she knows Bob Wells.
Maybe he will reply.
She is a joy to watch and so brave!!! I wish the best for her and Miss Lucy.
💛💛💛
👍
Bluetti is not the best. I have 2 Ecoflow 1300;s and a Ecoflow Delta Max. They are the best in my opinion.
Portable power stations cost $1000
too expensive for the little battery built in...
Emergency cooler for diabetics to keep their insulin at the storage temp.
Same here!
You swapped vehicles again
Thought that you were in a red (former)
Ambulance ?
That is his red ambulance that has been painted green on the exterior. The interior is still red as seen in the video.
A built in battery sounds like a pain in the but when it fault codes or dries out .
Nearly 1, 000 dollars can be spent better .
For $800... Engel, or a less expensive fridge and a custom diy built solar power source. It's only worth $800 if it'll get down to 15°f so Yu can freeze kill worms and their eggs in fish so he can eat the fish raw after a hard 3 day freeze.
@MoreTimeThanMoney WHY would you want to eat the fish RAW at all?
ESPECIALLY fish full of PARASITES?
@@contactjoy4140 ... noone wants to eat fish full of parasites. The deep freeze is to kill what Yu can't see. There are many reasons why a person may want to eat raw fish or feed it to a pet.
1)lack of resources to cook.
2)stealth
3)more nutrients
4)taste
5)texture
6)nutrients
7)no heat preperations like pickling, fermenting, or dehydrating.
8) sauces (Do you like worcestershire sauce? Garum? Fish or oyster sauce?)
You probably eat raw fish or raw fish products and don't even know it.
This would be convenient taking it to the beach, the park or a concert event,in this scenario, the built in battery is great,if you can afford it.
