So two points:
Gunboat usage: Yes the main point of using a Gunboat for the player at this point is because its still the only ship that has Ion cannons before the Defender is available and we need the player to do some disabling. It is being used less in Reimagined than it was in Classic at this point, much how I took at least two TIE Bomber missions from Classic and changed you into an Interceptor as its more fun. In any case, I believe this is functionally the last mission you fly a Gunboat in Reimagined until I finish designing the remaining Reimagined missions (next time you fly it would be in Battle 10).
Warhead loadout: Because at the moment, you can enter the hangar and rearm infinite number of times, this has the potential to break several missions or to cheese them far too easily, thus I restrict warhead loadouts for most Reimagined missions. Classic this is different, all warhead options are available.
Also in the last mission there, audio references the 'Star Destroyer Glory' arriving, thats a bug, should be Razor, not Glory :)
"this has the potential to break several missions or to cheese them far too easily" - Yeah that makes sense, It was pretty easy to cheese origional TF with the heavy space bombs without reloads, Now that you mention it I can only imagine how much chaos I could cause with Heavy Space Bombs and reloads.
@@MagzGTV Exactly! Its not completely restricted. Usually any mission where you are by default given Torps/Rockets, I will also offer any other warhead that's less powerful to be used as well.
Meh. I'm really not a Fan of the overblown TIE Defender. The Avenger is more practical and the Empire wouldn't need to completely redesign all their Logistics just to hold the damn thing like the other TIEs. Plus since it has no counterweight, once it lands on it's "Wings" it would fall over.
Really... What do People like about this crap Fighter Craft?! It looks like one of those German over engineered monstrosities that in reality never came into fruition.
@@TurKlack The T/D was introduced in the original TIE Fighter, meant basically to give the player an absolutely OP craft to be able to tackle hordes of enemies with no support given the engine limitations of the time. That OP gameplay has translated it into being the uber fighter of the Empire over the decades.
What a shame. If they'd wanted to make the TIE more impressive they could have just given it it's autofire from A New Hope. But nice info. Thanks.@@ange1uk
If you havent played the Star Wars mod for X4, it is basically everything you could want as far as ship command. Models are very good. Its a more or less sandbox, so you can build a fleet, fly a solo fighter, whatever. Also, in X-Wing vs Tie Fighter you could fudge a few files and fly any capital ship you wanted. Couldn't do much aside from saying go this way, and wing men attack that, but when you are a SSD, all is well.
I was definitely enjoying it until my ancient PC just couldn't handle it with any major combat. Luckily I just bought a new beast of a PC so soon it will be time to try again :D

The Avenger is such a sleek TIE. It's definitely one of my favorites!!
Me and a few of my buddies are currently working on a game thats a combination pf war thunder, this game, and enlisted, where you start with a small corvette/Frigate class and work your way up to capitals. you can outfit your ship with load outs of starfighters and ground forces as you see fit, theres a single and multi player modes, rn just fighting for licensing and some final touches. should only be a year or two at the most.
The friendly targeting of that gunship is understandable.
The HUD shows friendly as red, and enemies as green...it feels counterintuitive to me
I think this was done because being Imperial flips the color code, being green for 'good guys' and red for 'bad'. Although the game certainly doesn't draw the Imperials as being evil.
Back when X-wing came out my friends and I talked about how we wanted a game where you could command a Star Destroyer and we imagined that it would work similair to Silent Service 2 (being the only submarine game we had played).
Who needs sleep anyway....

Ion cannons on an imperial fighter is not beneficial to hero starships and long form storytelling in general 😂

Have you tried Starsector? Not quite what you're talking about, but there is a Star Wars mod that can fullfill this niche in a different medium (top-down sprites game).

Good to see the story continue! The background graphics moving around randomly is a bit trippy. I wonder if that's just a feature of the 3d rendering engine, or if it's a bug that the total conversion developers could potentially solve?

Yes, Independence War was marketed and sold as I-War outside of the US so I played it as I-War but same game.

You need to fire your missles single. You'll get a better hit rate.
Has there been any update to the AI? Love the reskinning but the original AI is just a bunch of predetermined flight paths.
Inside the cockpit why are the letters in Aurebesh, but numbers in English ?
Practicality. All relevant information the player needs about their ship is in English ofc so they can fly effectively and understand the status of their ship and others, anything else is just flavour and detail :)
@@ange1uk that said, as long as you have the aurebesh font installed in windows, all the functional english characters can be changed to aurebesh with a simple config line change. Numbers in aurebesh look nearly identical in most fonts though.
But for the sake of gameplay its a not a default option, its been nearly 30 years since I could read and write aurebesh fluently and I suspect thats how most others feel.
soo is there a reason why the Reb's dont have any Plot Armor ?
"Plot armor" is survivorship bias. We dont hear the stories of the people who die.

i cant get the hang of your navigational pannels. its just a bunch of dots to me lol.
Left hand screen displays the forward hemisphere of the ship, the right one displays the rear hemisphere. Distance is displaced by the size of the dots, once you get used to it you'll actually find it as one of the best sensor screens in a space game as it's the only one I have found that gives an accurate and instantly readable indication of the location of the ships around you in relation to your location.
