I was there to experience Slave Raider for many shows. This band was the best live hard rock entertainment to ever come out of Minnesota. Their shows were a Metal Rock n Roll Fantasy come to life! A non stop thrill machine from beginning to end!
Going to see them in Ostego MN for the first time August 22nd! My parents followed slave raider from 1986 and onward they’ve seen them like 20 plus times. I got a picture taken with chainsaw five years ago from when I was 17 really awesome guy I’m so happy I finally get to watch them live!!!
I can't believe I actually got to play on that drum kit. I took drum lessons from Rock for a number of years. He truly is the best drummer I have ever had the pleasure of listening to!!
in minnesota lakeside ballroom gleenwood, "you me and the boys got together and made some noise" lol the metal experience for me was driving to lake side ball room glenwood, new munich, horse shoe bar browerville, kimball, st cloud and a kick ass time with bands like gemini and mace plus slave raider seem to dominate with chainsaw and that smoke on stage before the show, we need cannibal corps style mosh pits here in our state, all of the metal scene seem stuck in england like the waken fest and stuff like that
@@joelcutiepie2844 How so? After listening to most of their musical catalog, I found them to have: (1) a lack hooks, (2) lyrics that ranged from cheesy to just plain gawd awful, and (3) singing that was unremarkable. SR had 3 bites of the apple in 6 years and never found commercial success. And they definitely weren't going survive after 1991 when the musical napalm known as grunge snuffed out the glam/metal genres. You didn't have to be a genius to see the writing on the wall when Crue, Ratt, and Priest's releases failed to chart and went straight to the Sam Goody cut-out bins. The musicianship is actually quite good but the songs themselves were never going to be hits, no matter how hard the execs pushed or how good looking the front man. It would've been easy to pretty-up Chainsaw for videos, photo shoots, concerts, and Headbanger's Ball interviews, but what they really needed was some outside song writing if they were going to chart. Regardless, they still would've needed to retool after 1991 to find airplay. "Chainsaw" Findling's voice pretty much sums up the entire band: Good but not great, better than any bar band but not even a one-hit wonder. Findling's claim to fame before SR was "sharing" the stage with Ruby Starr. Starr was herself a hanger-on to Jim Dandy & Black Oak Arkansas. She likewise never found the charts despite having an incredible instrument for a voice ua-cam.com/video/hKxOO3984i8/v-deo.html SR were an ideal opening act. They're entertaining enough to keep the crowd from hurling butts and beer cans, but not good enough to steal the spotlight from the headliner.
Fair enough, I just thought Letitia Rae was hotter than fuck!!! I saw them live, and she is hotter than fuck!!!Not to mention she has an amazing voice and could play the fuck out of that bass!!!
It is a scientific fact that the rate of global warming is related to the lack of pirates. (FSM). Hence once this band faded, warming rapidly increased.
Slave Raider Wow... I've seen them many times because I worked those shows as a bartender. Talented, but not my keg of beer. As I remember the bassist was a woman. She was always a "good" girl, to me, the working doofus. However the guys I never really had any interaction nor got to know them. I just didn't get into their music, I was more into the Replacements or sometimes Costello or that UK punk stuff. But can't help but admit to enjoying hearing some old tyme thrash metal... um speed metal, or anything prior to "Metal-Lick-Ah".
only reason I found these guys is because of a blue felix Interview I read. not bad for there time I suppose. not my music taste but I can dig it for what it is.
This is brutal and the exact reason why glam died. Turn this off and go listen to Steelheart if you desire to hear a real early 90s "glam" rock band. The singer here is a poser hahaha.
Unbelievable band recorded and live! One of my all-time favorites. Saw them many.many times....best days.
Me too! Bad ass!

Jammin Tune...
I can't believe I actually got to play on that drum kit. I took drum lessons from Rock for a number of years. He truly is the best drummer I have ever had the pleasure of listening to!!

True Story: I Actually Know The Lead Singer Of This Band And Believe Me He Is One Of The Nicest Guys You'd Ever Meet
I met him when he was singing for Hairball. I concur. Chainsaw is an amazingly nice person. The guitarist Happy is a great guy as well.
@@salozmen29 Sucks that his cancer came back though
@@WarriorRockStarWolfGaming Very true. Sucks big time. He just had a wonderful benefit for him.
Grande banda. Acabaram demasiado depressa. Uma das melhores vozes da altura
I guess they played at T.A. Vern's in Milwaukee a lot, I don't remember them lol
RIP Nicci Wikkid (David Hussman).
This news makes me sad.
@@jimbeekman4863 I had the privilege of sharing correspondence with him. He was such a humble dude that was in it for the fans all the way. Great guy.
Good band. Good singer. Reminds me a bit of Kevin Dubrow or Mark Tornillo.
If the lead singer had been a pretty boy these guys would have been as big in the '80's as Cinderella, Slaughter, Winger, etc.
You are SO WRONG
Jim Beekman.. how so?

powerful band
Developer On Fire brought me here.
How about some new comments from "The Raid"!!!
Seen them open for Ratt when Poison dipped out cause their drummer broke his arm. Think Slaveraider was way better then poison.
One more for the Rock Hall \\mm//
The rock of Seattle
99.9 KISW.....
Jackyle lead singer owes chainsaw royaltys
You got that right!!!
This song just would not survive today, if these guys were or would have been bigger, this song would have a huge target on it..
Isn't it funny how certain bands managed to completely escape your radar during the era, yet they were good enough to have a cult following?
ha ha, so metal.

The Lyrics and Intent don't really age well, do they?
Kinda like "Christine 16" -Gene Simmons
But Slave Raider isn't KISS - right?
