As much as I love them, I very much doubt they would have been huge considering that Joels previous band Cats in boots were very similar, and that got a lot of promotion and still did not make it big.Was even on a big label as well and their worldwide debut was released in 1989 a year after their Japanese only EP/album. Heavy Bones got zero promotion and I didn't even find out they existed til about 7 or 8 years after the album came out. A band is never gonna have success if the record label does nothing to promote them.
I've said it before...and i'll say it again...the late 80's early 90's Hair Metal scene was amazing...sure so many bands you've probably never heard of, but so many labels were signing and releasing stuff that there was a gluttony of product...much garbage...but, a Slew of Kick Ass stuff...Heavy Bones for one...Trouble Tribe, Sleeze Beez, Princess Pang, Bad4Good, SouthGang, Slik Toxik, Sven Gali, Harem Scarem, Saints & Sinners, Beau Nasty, Dirty Looks, Cry Wolf, Electric Angels, Electric Boys, Johnny Crash, McQueen Street, Wildside and many many more...ROCK ON!!! \m/ \m/
SabuPtolemy it´s quite sad actually , these bands from the 80´s had a lot of talent and a great musicianship , i´m 100% sure i was born in the wrong era ´cause 80´s Hard Rock and classical music is all i listen to :)
Phoenix Van Wyden I agree, i was born in the wrong decade. 80s was an amazing era music wise, i still come along discovering new bands everyday on u tube, just shows how much talent there was through out 80s early 90s.
The same happens to me , i´m always being amazed by the talent of the 70´s and 80´s bands , great levels of musicianship , i wish there were a few bands like these today ... we´re part of the minority of young people today who love this type of music :)
The sad thing is, for what i´ve been hearing and discovering the late 80´s had some really good bands that could´ve shaped the 90´s sound , Tora Tora , Wild side ,Badlands and many more , i wish these bands had stayed , we could be still listening to some great music today
I saw these guys by happenstance at the Marquee club in So Cal....loved 'em. I don't think they split 'cause they couldn't get along. I think it was because they were lumped in with all of the "dime a dozen" crappy bands that were out there at the time........as a matter of fact I ran into Frankie Banali (the drummer) a few years ago, and he told me it was "a great band at the wrong time........" Anyway, awesome video, I had never seen it, have to go dig out my CD now and have a listen!
This rocks!!! Bought this when it came out in '92. Gary Hoey is such an awesome guitarist, met him after one of his shows in Colorado Springs, Co. back in '97. I remember when Joel fronted Cats n' Boots, and of course everyone knows the man behind the drum kit Mr. Frankie Banali..............another awesome band!
Back when this came out, there was this song "4AM TM" which had lyrics of "another memory's callin" and another song was mainstream by Trouble called "Memory's Garden". Both GREAT rock/metal songs, but always got the two confused. Loved the 80's / 90's music (ROCK). \\m//
Your description is almost too simple, lol. I do have to agree, his ferocity is both spectacular and chronologically perfect. At the very least, I would bet they wished they HAD paid him back!!
The band members are: ex Cats In Boots singer Joel Ellis, Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali, guitar player extraordinaire Gary Hoey and ex Hellion bassist Rex Tennyson.
Joel Ellis from cats in boots on vocals, I've always said if this was released in 87 or 88 they would have been around way longer. CATS IN BOOTS RULED TOO
This song was always playing on VH1 when I got up in the morning which got me moving. RIP Frankie. Things worked out for Gary he surprisingly had a lot of success during the grunge Era.
This song is amazing! Where the hell was I when this group came out?? I thought I knew every 80's hair metal band out there..sorry i missed these guys..would love to hear the rest of this !
Discovered this band by accident in bout 96. Had bought the tape just because the cover art. Loved the whole tape and now have the cd and love listening to it from beginning to end. Favorite songs are Anna and Where Eagles Fly
great track great underrated band. I just found this album going through things the other day. I had forgotten i owned it what a killer album /,,/ /,,/
i think this is one of the best stage playing video ever!! only one camera goin around capturing the musicians in amore natural way than the high speed images you always get in videos..and the song always made me bang my head!!
only recently came across this band on a website called HEAVY HARMONIES it reviews every hard rock/aor band & album from A-Z check it out its excellent they even have sample songs on some albums too
First time I saw this video was on Headbanger's Ball. I had too much to drink and was puking when it was on, so whenever I hear this song I feel slightly ill... :) (Smooth Up by Bulletboys was on after it, so same effect) It rocks that someone FOUND it, can't find this song ANYWHERE!
Only saw this a few years ago. Didn't know Gary hoey's name, only that this dude made that guitar howl and growl. Knew the drummer immediately from the metal health album by quiet riot. Killer singer and bass. Like it's been said, just hit the scene about 6 years too late. A real shame...
Well it's four in the mornin' My ol' lady's snorin' Outside it's rainin' and pourin' And I need some affection To fuel my resurrection So I contemplate with silent intention... Suddenly my mind is not my own And I'm falling I can see through the door Another memory's Calling... yes it's calling Then I see In the night she comes to sweep-a-me Off my feet All hell fire couldn't make her a liar In the moonlight charity's balling Through the door another memory's calling Whoa! Holy Moses It must have been hypnosis I woke up in a bed full of roses And it's hardly accidental In fact I'm slightly mental My thoughts have all become Transcendental Suddenly my mind is not my own And I'm falling I can see through the door Another memory's Calling... yes it's calling Then I see In the night she comes to sweep-a-me Off my feet All hell fire couldn't make her a liar In the moonlight charity's balling Through the door another memory's calling All hell fire couldn't make her a liar Through the door another memory's calling Hear me calling Hear me calling Hear me calling

this song just like maybe a few months bach on vh1 they started to play this song.then they took it off wtf.we need to bring good rock n roll back to usa
@ohio1998 Have you had any luck with getting your hands on the disc? I am more than willing to copy it for you. Love this disc. Wouldn't sell this disc if I could prevent it. Sell my liver first!! lmao
damn, if this band came out just a few years earlier than when they released their first album in 1992, they could have been huge.

RIP Frankie !! Thanks for those thundering memories !
This is a great album from beginning to end.
This gem went under the radar ...was over looked among the plethora of hair metal bands when it was released....but still have it on cd format

🤘Rock in peace Frankie Banali thanks for rockin us all!
I can't understand WHY these guys weren't that popular, Joel Ellis had the most amazing voice, and he was drop dead gorgeous!!!! Such a handsome man.
Shame :-( ... Yet i was born in The wrong decade, im going back listening to 80s-90s as the music now compared back then is embarrassing.
SabuPtolemy it´s quite sad actually , these bands from the 80´s had a lot of talent and a great musicianship , i´m 100% sure i was born in the wrong era ´cause 80´s Hard Rock and classical music is all i listen to :)

Unmistakable. This guy used to sing for Cats in Boots, didn't he? Wicked!
Trevor Duplessis yup, heavy bones was way more fine tuned
@Ari Awan Cats in boots!
Motley in Chains!! That's the vibe and sound I've always heard in Heavy Bones! And that's an awesome sound in my opinion!
This is the kind the music the media doesn't want you to listen. It's too good.
Exactly
I remember seeing this video on MTV when I came out. What a badass tune. I didn't realize it was Frankie playing drums til later on.
One of the best hard rock songs ever. I've never heard of them.
Exactly they are amazing I love them and I had never heard of them until recently 😮
Used to crank this one up daily back in the day. 🍺
I saw these guys by happenstance at the Marquee club in So Cal....loved 'em.

Joel Ellis from cats in boots on vocals, I've always said if this was released in 87 or 88 they would have been around way longer. CATS IN BOOTS RULED TOO

Thank u God for making me born in 1977. So I went HS in early-mid 1990s
I grew up in the 80's. I love hair metal. The closest band to hair metal right now is Crash Diet.
Check Crazy Lixx , they´re very good
Phoenix van der Weyden crazy lixx is probably the best of the new wave glam metal
I got to see them live. A little club in Orange County off the 405. One of the best albums of the 90's.
Oh man if only they would have came out in the 80's. They are so tight and the lead singer is amazing.
great track great underrated band. I just found this album going through things the other day. I had forgotten i owned it what a killer album /,,/ /,,/

How Hoey and the boys didnt make it big time is a shame. Thats good METAL!!
Oh man, a prime example of a Gary Hoey guitar solo. Just awesome.

He's not quit a household name, but Hoey has a solo career with a major fan following. He's still playing many shows and releasing new albums.

Only saw this a few years ago. Didn't know Gary hoey's name, only that this dude made that guitar howl and growl. Knew the drummer immediately from the metal health album by quiet riot. Killer singer and bass. Like it's been said, just hit the scene about 6 years too late. A real shame...

I had no idea that was Frankie Banali on drums!
Well it's four in the mornin'
My ol' lady's snorin'
Outside it's rainin' and pourin'
And I need some affection
To fuel my resurrection
So I contemplate with silent intention...
Suddenly my mind is not my own
And I'm falling
I can see through the door
Another memory's
Calling... yes it's calling
Then I see
In the night she comes to sweep-a-me
Off my feet
All hell fire couldn't make her a liar
In the moonlight charity's balling
Through the door another memory's calling
Whoa! Holy Moses
It must have been hypnosis
I woke up in a bed full of roses
And it's hardly accidental
In fact I'm slightly mental
My thoughts have all become
Transcendental
Suddenly my mind is not my own
And I'm falling
I can see through the door
Another memory's
Calling... yes it's calling
Then I see
In the night she comes to sweep-a-me
Off my feet
All hell fire couldn't make her a liar
In the moonlight charity's balling
Through the door another memory's calling
All hell fire couldn't make her a liar
Through the door another memory's calling
Hear me calling
Hear me calling
Hear me calling

@thelawler Don't forget Frankie Banalli... drummer for Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P. , and others... \m/
Awesome !!!!

Huge fan of this band! Never seen the video before today! Sucks they fade it down early as the album version has a killer ending.
Love these guys 👍👍
Great song. I know it's a music video and everything, but the guitarist has plugged in his guitar.
This is nothing short of amazing.
The good ol'days when you had to know how to play to be in a band...
Very 90 ish a lot of bands have the super clean drum production and heavy bass.
I don't know who those other people are, but, I see Gary Hoey!
Yeah that's Gary Hoey alright. The drummer is Frankie Banali from Quiet Riot and Wasp.
Rocking!!! Love it!
KILLER solo section!
this song just like maybe a few months bach on vh1 they started to play this song.then they took it off wtf.we need to bring good rock n roll back to usa
what's the name of the guy at 2:30? (i guess he is playing the bass but i might be wrong)
That Hamer Sunburst is killer!
RIP Frankie! 🙏🥁
I wish they would be back!!
I can't find this song anywhere...totally out of print! So frustrating!!!

It's a heavy video and I will get this album. 😀👍🤘🎸
@ohio1998 Have you had any luck with getting your hands on the disc? I am more than willing to copy it for you. Love this disc. Wouldn't sell this disc if I could prevent it. Sell my liver first!! lmao
