It’s sooo eerie, heart wrenching, and ironic to hear the firefighters near the end, that it was already too much and devastating enough for them to lose 3 firefighters at once. This was in June of 2001. Little did they know what was to come three months later, which took 343 more of their brothers and friends, including Captain Hickey. 😔
Very sad I lived blocks away from this fire when I was a little girl .. rip to the heroes that lost their lives. The streets were named after them ! And they will never be forgotten.
15:42 - 20:08: Sooooo eerie, bone chilling, and ironic to hear those firefighters and others describe what a terrible and unthinkable tragedy it was to lose 3 firefighters at once, and that so long as the FDNY continued to operate, that it would not be the last time such a thing would happen and that there would be more to come....... then 3 months later (this was June, 2001).... There are no words.

Rest in peace to Captain Brian Hickey, who died covering Rescue 3 on 9/11
sadly, this fire and LODD event was overshadowed by the events that occurred in September of that year and is often forgotten about
@@hosedragger-204 it was most definitely not forgotten. Especially by the brothers who operated. They’ll live on forever

Heartbreaking. Was taught early on that there's never a routine fire.
It seemed like an unfathomable tragedy at the time. Little did we know...
RIP Brothers.....
Thanks for posting this, I had heard about this fire but because of 9/11 was kind of overshadowed.
Won’t play
