Girl, don't do it, it's not worth it. Kate: I'm not gonna do it girl, I was just thinking about it, I'm not gonna do it... Kate at 4:10 "...dying to sea" ....I did it.
Thanks for this fascinating video! I’m both a long time cruiser and long time ER doctor, and always like seeing what the medical facilities look like on the ship. Full respect to all the Medical staff on board. Stay safe everyone!
This video is brilliant, as a nurse considering a life at sea, I have been struggling to find any information or vlogs on what it is like so this is a brilliant insight.
It is reassuring to actually see the facilities you are told exist, but even more so that they are staffed by consummate professionals, thank you for the tour and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I had a panic attack on day 6 of 7 and the nurse that checked us in kept telling us that it will cost a lot of money if you end up seeing the dr. She was being attentive but trying to sway us to not see the dr. She gave me a paper bag and tried to calm me, I didn't know at the time what it was and I was stressing something fierce, it kept getting worse. So my husband insisted after about 30 mins of no improvement, that we see the dr. Anyway the dr was great he checked my heart, did a ekg, my blood sugar, my blood pressure. Several things, I felt well taken care of. After consulting with my husband and I he said it was a panic attack gave me some meds for the night and the next day. I said all that to say this. I felt cared for and I felt the medical staff we all professional and concerned for my wellness. This video is exactly how clean and well kept the hospital was on our ship. I'm thankful for all the nurses and doctors out there, land and sea.
Absolutely fascinating. I'm in EMS, so knowing how it's done aboard a cruise ship is very interesting. Would definitely like to see more of the emergency teams & procedures. Happy Thanksgiving!
That is so interesting! My brother got sick once on the Celebrity Summit (luckily it was the last day), everyone was very nice. He and my Dad were allowed to go back to one of the rooms while my mom and I stayed back. I think a cool video idea (when you are back on the ship) would be showing off the "Brig" if you are allowed.
Great video. As a paramedic, it's always interesting to "Sea" how ships utilize their medical facilities. As a cruiser myself, I always wonder why only one cruise line actually utilizes Paramedics as part of their medical staff. None the less, love the video and well done captain on another well produced post.
I have always appreciated these as someone who loves cruises and has multiple medical problems. I am just now trying to return to work as a nurse and enjoyed learning tons on triage // trauma care when I got my EMT license after becoming a nurse.
I wish cruise naysayers would watch this. It's more informative than even the longest, densest cruise books I have read. I realize not all Medical Centers are this large but have read they all have good equipment and well trained medical personnel. Captain Kate keep up good work. Hope you can soon get back to your real job of taking everyone on great cruises. Happy Holidays!
In January 2020, I went on a cruise on the Liberty of the seas, and we needed to make an emergency run to Cozumel which cut our trip short, still worth it...
Captain Kate McCue, Thank You. The list that follows this “THANK YOU” is long, A testimony to your accomplishments & sacrifices. “SEA YOU” is now a tag I will watch for, use, carry & assign as necessary into the future.
I worked for Celebrity as a nurse in the 1990's on the Meridian and the Horizon, so interesting to see how things have progressed. Thanks so much for showing me around! 😁
I so appreciate the medical staff onboard Royal Caribbean Group ships. My husband "deck toed", called "turf toed" on land, his foot playing soccer on a Royal Caribbean President's Cruise. He got excellent care from the medical staff, including an x-ray to insure it wasn't a break. But the care didn't stop there. Our cabin attendant made sure my husband had ice in our cabin to ice his foot. Guest Relations and medical staff called to follow up on his recovery. I like to think this level of care would have been just as great even if weren't a President's Cruise with the cruise line president, Michael Bayley, onboard.
I’m amazed from all that I’ve just seen. I’m lost off words. Wow is the closest I can came up to. Pls continue uploading content on your YT-channel. TikTok with its 1minute limit, is just not enough.
Some cruise companies are starting to add paramedics to their medical staff. That’s what I do for my main job. We are trained in rescues, fast responses, thinking outside of the box, we are also required to have the Advanced Cardiac and Pediatric Cardiac life support certifications, we can intubation, do surgical crics, needle decompression. Along with a multitude of other skills.
I have been on dozens and dozens of cruises over the years. On ships as small as the Empress of the Seas, all the way to the Allure of the Seas. I personally have never needed the medical facility, but I always appreciate it is there. Just incase.
One cruise we lost our sea day speeding back to New Orleans to offload a patient to coast guard boat. It was unique to see the Mississippi River during daylight. The people on shore were surprised too when they'd stop to watch. Docked a good 8 hours early
It's a very high-quality channel. The medical facilities are so well-equipped. I'm honored to be your best channel friend. Have a nice Sunday. 💘💘💘🤙🤙👌💯💯
I once observed a ship-to-ship medical transport off the NCL Sea near Bermuda in 2003 during heavy seas. Hurricane Fabian was bearing down on Bermuda, and the medical emergency (maybe appendicitis?) was significant enough that the captain turned around and headed back into the waves to get the crew member off. Then we turned around again and booked it for safer waters...I remember physically leaning into the wind as we were sprinting out, and ship staff I talked to the next day said we were actually surfing the waves for a while.
My wife and I saw an air evacuation while on the Oasis of the Seas. It was very interesting to watch since I'm in EMS. I've always wondered what medical facilities were like on board, never wanted to find out as a patient though.
super father and interesting video since I could see that a mega cruise in addition to offering fun and relaxation as a family, is very prepared for situations that focus on health.
Great video and topic. I’ve always wondered about the medical facilities on board. Nice hearing the requirements to be a ships doctor/ nurse. Kudos to them for keeping everyone safe during these unprecedented times. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Great Informative Video. Congratulations to you Captain & Celebrity Cruise Line. I hope that all Cruise Lines Worldwide will see your video & use it as a example of what their Companies should also be Show Casing. What God willing most passengers will never have to experience but know that is there just Incase. Superb Job!
That’s so cool to see. My mother in law unfortunately got the opportunity to visit a deck like that at sea, and take a ride on the fast moving ship and fly on a big fancy jet.. 😭 but, her care was top notch.
We have been on two cruises that facilitated removal of a patient. Once diverted to Nassau, for a dock side evacuation. Once at sea in Florida Keys by US Coast Gaurd fast boats. Jerome Manhattan Ks..
This is such an interesting video. I absolutely love your videos. I am wondering if you know if they ever hire Nurse Practitioners for the medical staff?
Thanks for the video captain, Great tour. Is there any chance we could see a day in the life of the Chief Security officer, as a police officer and a cruise lover i find this role interesting.
i was on a cruise and there was a medical emergency overnight... we had left the afternoon before and never knew till the next day when the captain announced it! they turned the boat went back to port and then went full speed to make up for the lost time. The gentleman was rushed into surgery and made it out.
As an travel LPN in my 9th year I was interested in looking into a cruise contract. But I see if all cruises have similar requirements I don't meet the requirements. I've never worked ICU or ED. Guess I need to take some more classes and check out the ED. My current specialty is geriatrics which in itself I've experience many emergencies. Maybe I can look into a cruise line that's mainly for the elderly cruisers. 🤷♀️
Hi Captain Kate I love your videos I have a request I took a tour on a ship but they don’t let us into the engine room can you make a video down in the engine room thanks Billy
I work as a firefighter EMT and I always make it a point to go to Medical no matter what ship and give them a patch from the Fire Department I work for. It’s just a little way to say Thank You, to the dedication of these medical professionals. Thank You all for your hard work.
Do not ever travel without Medical insurance, check with your medical insurer at home before travel, they may not cover your travels, also, be aware, cruise ships do NOT bill your insurer, you have to pay cash/credit card for services rendered and the bill could be quite high...
Does the celebrity edge take dialysis patients? I noticed you said dialysis. I do dialysis 3 days a week but would still love to take a cruise on your ship
From what I understand, this is FAR more advanced than most cruise ships. This is epic.
Girl, don't do it, it's not worth it.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the puns 🤣 great video!
Didn't think that they were that pfunny. I guess I missed the boat?
She seems to love puns. She's very good at it!
The puns were so bad, they were almost enjoyable.
This video is brilliant, as a nurse considering a life at sea, I have been struggling to find any information or vlogs on what it is like so this is a brilliant insight.
hello, would you be kind enough to share your foundings? i too am going on a search for information but the amount is simply not enough
It is reassuring to actually see the facilities you are told exist, but even more so that they are staffed by consummate professionals, thank you for the tour and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
So basically the cruise ship is almost like huge city with every facilities but on water, so cool
Yep! If you can get it on land, you can most likely get on a cruise ship too!!
I can’t get over how they have an ICU on a ship. So crazy.
Old people fall. Old people break hips.

The Brig? You mean the Nautical Gray Bar hotel?? They don't have brigs, they use dungeons. Whips, chains and all.

Thank you Kate for this...I have never seen a ship`s medical facility and assumed it was just a small “office” - this is so reassuring!!!!
Wow. I’ve always wanted to see the medical on a ship. Thanks for taking us

Just wanted to say I love ❤️ your videos plz make more ty plus I’m a big fan of yours plus I had the pleasure of meeting u and crew I ❤️ the edge
Awesome! Better to be ready for anything as I I can tell you after working 48 years on ships and with ships, anything is possible!!!
Thank you for showing medical center on board. I am also a nurse, working as nurse on ship.
Excellent video ❤️

Also, would love a video tour of more crew only areas.

I love the cart with the portable glory hole at 1:41.
They were using it all wrong.
Great puns and great information! This is fascinating!
