- This video shows the working of a ratchet and a freewheel made with LEGO parts. More information at: blog.electricbr...
So this is why I can pedal backwards on bike but when I back my bike it up into the garage I get jabbed in my leg by the peddle
I wish I couldn’t relate
The freewheel is just a clutch works in one way and lets the car roll even if the motor is turned off. What you mean by going faster is the gear ratio.
Gear ratio is also why cars got a transmission and bicycles got, too.
Just like the anti-rollback device on a roller coaster.
And yet some roller coasters can go forward and backwards
@@charlie_mk7.5 Yes, but they don't go backwards on the lift hill. They do it usually in the middle, or at the climax of a coaster.
@@pocowoso1436 oh yeah I see what you meant now, you meant when the cart arrived to the lifting system it uses a one way attachment system
@@charlie_mk7.5 Yes
lol i never though of a ratched in a car. great for going uphill
Roller coaster lifts use them to prevent the train from rolling down the lift in case the lift's drive fails.
@RENEG8DE Precisely
isnt this literally what brakes r for?
combine the ratchet with the freewheel, hell yea a lego bike wheel
Oh so that’s how the bike works
TheShankinSoviet a kids bike
Ich because its small
Random 86 I’m talking about the cassette you genius it’s on every bike.
-2SteppinShiba chill it was a joke
Not on every bike, some also break if you pedal backwards
Can I have instructions for that freewheel? I couldn't find them in that link.
Thats similar to how bikes work
That’s the point
That dumb Aussie TM not so dumb, are we now, aussie
Should also be careful to ensure release of this ratchet ,when using reverse gear!
how can I build that? Do you have any instructions?
cómo lo puedo construir? Tienes instrucciones?
It looks cool and it’s a good design, but while testing there, you didn’t use the ratchet function at all, and it wouldn’t be used unless the motor was disengaged anyways...
If any one is interested, they actually use a rachet, simular to this, to keep roller coasters from falling back on the chain lift. That's why you hear the clicking noise on a roller coaster.
Just like a socket wrench
Very clever thinking. Nice demonstrations too!
That's it. Like Wartburg's drivetrain.
*It's free-wheel estate*
ratchet and clank
Ambos..
So cool idea! Thanks!
yo iba a vuestros cursos de robótica :(
Eres español no te agas
Ratchet &.....?
i wasn't even alive when this came out
*sigh* your too young
COOOL linkages! That is interesting, but where will I use it ?! -_-
DesignJunkie58 Old cars with two-stroke engines were equipped with this kind of drivetrain. To eliminate high revs on downhill with no throttle. 2-stroke engines are using fuel mixed with oil to lube engine. So with no throttle on downhill engine run high revs without oil and that will cause damage and overheat.
Are you Punjabi? I heard some Punjabi in the background. If you are I am too. :D
Hallo lololol 😎
cool
realy cool!
I don't understand how it can roll faster than the drive.
Because you are bumb...
HomelessOnline the freewheel slides through the hole in the larger gear saying how it's a FREEwheel
Uhm u now have differentials? Lol xd 7 years later
electrickbricks always amazing
Kellindil lololol 😎
brake???
Ruzan125 are u croatian
I disagree! You could make a hoist, at the very least. (That's as far as my imagination can go.)
r/wooooosh
not really useful i think
Ok
