Would you ever consider making a video about adapting M-mount glass on other systems like RF or E-mount? I've heard something about how m-mount glass tends to have different looks/sharpness due to some body-specific layouts
thanks for the review Matt. With the SL camera you have the advantage that you can use the 90mm lens in both 35mm and APS-C mode. In principle you have 2 lenses with 90 and somewhere around 135. DNG file is reduced by half, but in my opinion fully sufficient
Great video, as always! Coincidentally I recently purchased a 90mm f2.8 lens, but it’s the Laowa super 2x macro. Along with the ability to get extreme close up images, it’s also an extremely sharp, APO chromatic lens. But it’s manual only and not as compact as the Sigma. Is available in an L mount, you should check it out for your Leica.
Sigma and Lumix lenses are not considered third party but first party due to Sigma and Lumix being part of the L Mount alliance and all using the same lens profile. 😊
Good morning. I own a Leica SL2S, and I'm interested in a 90mm. Which one do you recommend the Voigtländer APO-Skopar 90mm F2.8?. Or the SIGMA 90mm f2.8 DG DN?
I have the Sigma DG DN 24 mm f/3.5 and 90 mm f/2.8 L mount lenses. They’re super light and work well on my SL2 (the 24 works well on my CL; I haven’t tried the 90 on the CL yet). I’ll soon have the Sigma 65 mm f/2.
Nice one. Personally if I'd go the route of a 2.8 fixed aperture lens for travel esp. might just spend a bit more and look at a 24-70mm Sigma L-mount lens. Then throw a small vintage 90mm in the bag for portraits :)
Thanks Ben, I went to escape the UK weather. It wasn't brilliant there but still warmer. I struggle to take photos in these places (unless have models) but I did my best. (You'll see more photos in a video to come soon). Next trip location should be unlimited photos..
Nice video. I had a bit of a laugh hearing your review where you try to go easy on that lens hehe. BTW That tea kettle is an Italian Espresso maker 😁 Good job Thanks for sharing
Thanks RS, ah yes I realised after I called it a teapot..lol. Spot the boy grew up drinking tea. (..and yes I try to be non-bias, the lens takes nice photos but lacks the character of older lenses. Mist filter helped a lot).
Thanks for the video. The Leica SL system is looking more and more appealing to me as I have a collection of manual lenses from F-mount to M mount and M42 mount. I think I would stop buying Sony gear.
Well....on a voigtlander face group, I'm always commenting, " Voigtlander, it is time to do af lenses, check what Sigma is doing with the C dg dn line of lenses", yes many laughing emojis, but to be sincerely, mf is not for the most of the people out there,....and I'm one of them. I use techart pro V2 on my sony with these lenses, and of course I have a few sigma C,....and waiting for their 50 f2....on the hope it will be as good as their 65
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom 📷 I have a LOT of fun using my Sony Cameras, they are small, compact, light and have an excellent quality ! Leica SL cameras need to be smaller and more affordable to be of any interest. I do not think a Leica SL are fun, in my eyes it is also a bit ugly.

Matt, just wanted to say thanks for making my weekend more enjoyable!

@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom I wonder what this lens would look like on the Leica CL. I'm hoping to sell my s5 to get one.
Nice Video ... My Apo Skoppar 90 mm is my longest lens for my Leicas SL2S and M... one lens ... multi usage 🙂
Thanks Jerome, I love mine!

Hi, nice idea. I'm sure it could help a lot of viewers. If I get the chance to do so I will.
Is the best you can give to your sony camera,...add techart lm ea9...and you are in heaven

Thanks Peter, yes very true. Cropping is better with SL2 but as you say normally still enough even on the SL
I have this lens on my Lumix S5 and it's just fantastic !
Thanks Christian, yes great performer for digital for sure

Thanks James, noted!
These third party lenses are a really important option because of the size, weight and cost of many of the native lenses
Thanks Ronald! Yes people often ask me about AF lens options so i'm trying to review a few more.
Sigma and Lumix lenses are not considered third party but first party due to Sigma and Lumix being part of the L Mount alliance and all using the same lens profile. 😊
Thank-you Matt, as always, for the valuable info. Maybe I missed it, but where were you... It's beautiful there!
Thanks Robert! Lanzarote

Good morning.
I own a Leica SL2S, and I'm interested in a 90mm.
Which one do you recommend the Voigtländer APO-Skopar 90mm F2.8?. Or the SIGMA 90mm f2.8 DG DN?
If you use any M bodies too And or like small get APO. If prefer AF get Sigma
this one sits most of the time on my Sigma. Small and powerful. 2,8 is fully enough
Thanks Armin! Yes it does the job.

Thanks Thomas, yes that makes good sense.
Hm.... I'm wondering how it compares to the Lumix 85/1.8 and the Sigma 65/2.0.
Hi Steve, Lumix.. not sure as haven't tried yet. Sigma 65mm is very similar and possibly even sharper.
Looks like a decent place to go

You're always tempting me more and more with the Voigtländer APO Skopar 90mm f/2.8 :') (I'm seriously trying not to buy more gear right now :'D )
Ha thanks Matthias! Sorry about the temptations! :)
Thanks for the video. The Leica SL system is looking more and more appealing to me as I have a collection of manual lenses from F-mount to M mount and M42 mount. I think I would stop buying Sony gear.
Hi Eric, yes the SL kills camera GAS for sure AND you can then enjoy all your fav lenses with probably a better finder than you have currently.
What did he say?
Who?

Thanks, yes I made this video partly for people looking for AF lenses. I have another lens review to come from Sigma too.
LOL, small compact Lens on a huge camera 🤣 But the 90mm will be great on a Sony Camera !
Yes Sony are smaller.. but less fun ;)

Shit without saying it's shit. We can se it though, so thanks.
Haha thanks. It was fine for me in these situations but other lenses have more character.
