@@RedRocket415 I was thinking that before I scrolled down to the comments. Colin especially cannot seem to keep a straight face. But not in a fun way. Not like he's breaking. More in a Pete Davidson way where he knows what's coming or just smirks like an idiot before the punchline which really screws up the good work the people who actually put in some effort are doing. I'll compare him to Seth since he's basically Seth lite. When Stefon was on Seth would treat him as if he were a real person thereby maintaining the reality of the bit as the straight man. Colin cannot keep from laughing with that smug look on his face.
Hidden?! The guy's been in every Trump skit since he came on board. Point of fact, I'd wager it helped land him the job, because it's so good. Considering he's not a writer on the show, he's been in a lot of really funny pieces.
@Beth Jim and what are you doing to help? Telling people how trivial it is to talk about a TV show when the world is in peril isn’t actually helping any.
@Beth Jim Very serious stuff. I wish you would've video recorded the co-worker, and recorded the conversation with your dismissive supervisor, and brought the issue to your Chief Safety Officer and to your HR department, and to the county and state health officials, and even to the local media. People should know there are always at least anonymous complaint phone lines to county and state health offices. I worked in a biopharmaceutical company, a very big one, in Northern California, and I can tell you that if credible complaints were made then the county and state officials would've shut us down. They do not mess around. They would've locked the doors and done an investigation and at the very least increased unscheduled inspections and company management would have very high pressure tightening up chemical safety protocols and changing the company culture.
Tbh I think this cast for the season is brilliant. Good impressionists, a bit of chaotic insanity from everyone, *some* political sketches altho far less than previous years, and writers who know how to connect with a more modern audience while also still being able to bring some people who stopped watching, back into the show. Don't get me wrong, I always watch the show and it's always entertaining to a certain point but this season in particular has had some really decent sketches. They've also had a great assortment of hosts that really helps, and most of the cast.. are not afraid to go completely all-in for the sketches. Ego, Sarah, and Mikey in particular really just. Commit. XD I love this current cast. ❤️
There was a lot of political sketches, but it was kinda to be expected. They make fun of whatever the biggest story of the week is, and Trump was adamant on being the biggest story of the week every week.
@@neonrays28 Sarah is like a combination of Kate's insanity and Gildas just..silliness. you can definitely tell when she's helping write a sketch though. XD
agreed! i also love that they’re hiring people with different styles of humor and giving them all a chance to shine. sarah’s sketches, for example, are rarely my cup of tea but i think it was smart to hire her because she brings a new energy and fully commits to whatever insane bit she’s given. everyone has different senses of humor and i think this new season has done a good job of showcasing that. and they’ve been far less “how do you do fellow kids?” in their attempts to connect with a younger audience (which i think has a lot to do with hiring pdd). i was worried going into the season since so many great members left, but this cast/writers team is absolutely killing it and i hope they keep this momentum going.
I'm pretty sure that's why he was chosen for the show, even though Trump didn't get re-elected and SNL was desperately looking for someone to play Joe Biden since Jim Carrey wouldn't do it and Alex Moffatt's wasn't exactly winning over the audience.
The Bob Dylan was my favorite. My sister & I once worked in the same forensic accounting firm. We’d sometimes have “talk like Bob Dylan” days. Everything, all day, was in Bob Dylan voice, whether asking for a file or discussing a client. RIP my sister. She would have loved this & we’d both be repeating it all the time. 😂
better yet, do a skit that's an impression-off between james & chloe! they could make it like a game-show competition with a lightning round & everything.
I wonder how the costume department chooses clothes for the cast when they're on a segment as themselves. You want something casual... that lets the audience know "hey... lets let our hair down for a moment and just chill..." Bravissimo
Hilarious. The late Phil Hartman once said...."I hope that when I die the one thing will remember about me is that I was funny." This dude has real raw talent. Should go by James Austin. Funny.
This needs to be a regular thing.
I second that emotion!
Agreed!
It's clear JAJ is going to be another SNL legend
Yeah like operaman and other great update characters James Austin Johnson's useless two second impression corner ha
Third. Motion passed. Read the minutes and report back next open session.
Agreed ! 🤣
seeing James get both Colin and Michael to crack up was genuinely a treat
Seeing James get both Colin and Michael to crack up is some kind of feat? A cancer diagnosis would get Colin and Michael to laugh.
Cool, have fun getting laughed at during your guest appearance next week for acting so cancerous 🥸🥸🥸

Absolutely!!!
he really is
With every episode he brings even better stuff he did before.

I hope featured cast members will get extra air time in future seasons someday
This needs to happen way more. I would watch 30 minutes or more of this
like, literally an hour. it's so whimsical. "beh-yen-ce. beh-yen-ce!"
Go listen to his Fly on the Wall podcast. He does a bunch on there with Carvey and Spade.
Careful what you wish for. As SNL loses more comedic writers they start resorting to impressionists.
@@comediekid what a shame he has to include spade.

That Bob Dylan phone impression. 🤣💀

Duuuuuuuudeeeee 💀💀💀

That Bob Dylan impression was perfect! I laughed way harder than I expected 🤣🤣🤣👌🏼😚
I think that was the funniest SNL 10 seconds in YEARS.

Me too! I've come back multiple times and laugh hard every time.
Random impressions is what we needed. James is an absolute powerhouse. Jay Z bit is amazing.
He's a douche bag just like you
James is a gift to humanity. May he have many years to come

“Why not do them on Update, where it doesn’t really matter?” LOL.
That Bob Dylan knocked me off my chair from laughing. 😂
He does a better Trump impression than Trump himself

Not as good as Shane Gillis’ Trump, but they fired him. 😮

Dana has been doing that exact bit lately. Trying to get his impressions shorter and more specific. He's pulled out a few on his podcast with Spade.
love, love Dana Carvey
Only MUCH better!
100%
Maybe Bill Hader-level.
Hearing Che trying to keep it together off camera is everything.

1:58 the moment when his voice actually transformed into Trump’s for a second the audience gasped.
"Negroni"😂
They're not used to hearing that voice outside of a frighteningly accurate costume, hair, and makeup job.
@@canaisyoung3601 Yeah, it took me a second too!
I always like when the cast pretty much appear as themselves in Update.

This guy is a legend in the making.
I like that Che & Jost seemed genuinely amused.

Bob Dylan's phone. Brilliant!🕶

JAJ is definitely an asset to the show and I hope he stays on indefinitely! His Bob Dylan impression is so on point! 😃😂

Does anyone else agree that the smile of Colin Jost is infectious. He smiles and I want to laugh out loud. What a grin!
It got him Scarlett.
It's a three ingredient drink 😄
They absolutely have to continue these!
Johnson's impressions are literally the only thing worth tuning in for this year--a very talented young man...
His Trump impression blows my mind. Every. Single. Time.

JAJ gets more hilarious every week! 😂
Soooo underutilized! Loren, what are you WAITING for?!
bob Dylan's phone:
euhh. euhh.euuh.🥺
They should bring back Melissa Villasenor and have these two do impersonations together. Now that would be cool! 😀
He has the best Trump impersonation I've seen next to Jamie Foxx.
Not as good as Matt Friend in my opinion
Not me showing my 5 year old videos of Bob Dylan's voice, trying to explain the source of my uncontrolled giggling.
