- Labour is set to allow more than 100,000 migrants to apply for asylum after abandoning Rishi Sunak's Rwanda scheme, Sir Keir Starmer's spokesman suggested on Monday.

@@andrewcoxhead6451 That's not the case. Starmer and Labour have no intent of stopping the boats, or should I say, stopping asylum. They want to stop the boats purely because it's dangerous for illegals - but they have no issue with us being swamped by fake asylum seekers - so long as they get here safely.
Labour only talked about "stopping the boats" and "immigration too high" to encourage voters to vote Reform and discourage other voters from voting Tory to stop Labour (they wanted Tory voters to stay at home which is what happened). This has been Starmer's entire election strategy: and it worked, he deserves appreciation for his cunning.
But Labour voters themselves don't care about this. They want MORE of it. Most Labour voters barely care about immigration: they care more about getting Net Zero than immigration. They WANT more of this. Labour voters completely aware of what Labour intend to do. Just as they are 100% aware and supportive that most of our taxes will be going up soon.

The only way that Rwanda might have been useful is if any illegal migrant arriving without a passport or documentation (i.e. not having thrown it into the Channel) would have automatically been sent there : no ifs or buts. That may have sped up the application process of identifying those that could be verified & facilitate faster deportation where necessary.
Similarly, no immigration lawyer should be allowed to be engaged unless there was a positive means of identification available.
And then another 100,000, and so it will go on until normal life is no longer possible.
once the word is out that they are getting processed faster then a huge flood will be coming your way...
Process those 100,000 quickly, get their extended families over here and the give them all houses. That will make room for another 100,000 and so it goes on.

They plan to build 1.5m new homes over the next 5 years (though given the rate of population increase due to immigration they’ll need more than 1.5m new homes over the next 5 years), relaxing rules around developing greenbelt to do so, it’s just barren agricultural land so not important (said an idiot townie I was unlucky enough to speak to…) and build loads more onshore wind farms removing yet more agricultural land from food production (meaning we’re all going to have to go on starvation diets or more food will need to be imported)… 🤔 hmm, so nothing to actually help people afford houses or food 🤷♀️

I work in end of life care here in the UK , health care assistant . Low wage but I really care about my patients . Weird thing is , I am glad I am in my last third of life ( 64 ) because I don't feel hopeful about the future . I do worry about my grown up children . Actually thankful I don't have grandchildren now ( never thought I would feel that way )

Not processing them is the Tory policy which led to indefinite hotel accommodation. If you want the state to spend less on asylum seekers, the first thing you do is process their claims.

The reason that all asylum claims will be allowed is that there is nowhere to deport the failures to. mainly we don't know for definite where they come from as they have no documents and if we do there are no arrangements for returning them. We do know they set off from France and were escorted to British waters by the French authorities so France should be where they are returned. On shallow draught barges to uninhabited shores and chucked into 3 feet of water on a french beach.
