EU4 1.35 Teutonic Order Opening Moves Guide: One Faith World Conquest Setup (Part 1)

- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- In this video, we'll do the opening moves and set up for the eventual One Faith World Conquest by Teutonic Order. We'll become the Holy Horde and target a development milestone by 1600.
This is Part 1. Part 2 is here: • EU4 1.35 Teutonic Orde...
Thank you for watching! Have you done a One Faith World Conquest? If yes, do you have any advice for the Part 2 of this run?
I think the later stages can become very tedious because of the amount of wars, armies, navies and the immense territory you own. How do you plan ahead and stay focused?
@@anthroposium I agree with the tedium of the last century.
As for me, I simply outline the core directions in my mind, and play in short bursts not to burn out…
An advice for Part 1 close before 17:45. Chasing is ok, but wait one Month for the Moral tick, so you take less casualties in the fight. U go in the second fight with 60% Morale against full moscow stack. I am sure u know this, but i also forgot this some time. Learned hard lessons in wars against the ottomans ;) I think no CB Byz is ok, cause if u let grow ottomans, its dificult to cut them down. Especially if the ally french. Its hard to do this worldconquests, to stay focused, so take what u can get in the early game.
Amazing channel! No unneccesary fast paced editing, everything straight forward presented in a very entertaning manner. The video's are always pleasant to watch. Keep it up!
Thanks much! Glad this format works.
Slight addendum to the Livonian Order vassalization thing for people who want to try this themselves: Ideally you want +2 diplo rep when you complete the mission as that gives a 90% chance for the Livonians to accept vassalization. In 1.34 this was a bit of a pain as youd have to take the advisor and then find another diplo rep somewhere, but in 1.35 with the Clergy privilege that gives +1 diplo rep it's very easy. Alternatively if you can't get an advisor for whatever reason +1 diplo rep still gives a 60% chance.
Awesome info, thank you!
Joining the HRE also gives a diplo rep. So what I like to do is declare for Pomeranian coast while in there and then get Livonian order as a subject, and then leave the HRE. With 2 diplo rep most German minors will allow you to join with no strings attached. Especially if you improve with the electors.
Oh and a tip: the 6 possible options for heirs of monastic orders are based on the date. If none of the 6 is to your liking, you can let a day pass, save, and savescum with 6 new random heirs.
This is interesting, didn’t know this! Thanks much.
Nice to see you reached your like goal within a couple of hours instead of a week! This speaks for itself :)
Haha yep, this has been a humbling experience. The community is awesome 😎
I guess I have a couple of late nights ahead!
@@StrategySphereyou might, but you can and also should take the time you need
Very entertaining, skillfull, and helpful. Thank you for this good content.
Thank you :)
THIS IS THE MOST CURSED BORDER GORE
You ain’t seen nothing yet 😂
Please keep making videos like this, most country guides on UA-cam are pretty simple and can be figured out in a few play throughs. Your views are very unique and you do things that I wouldn't have thought of even in my 3000+ hours in EU4. I also really like the no CB Byz on December 11th I've always been interested in countries that can pull that off.
Thanks much, I appreciate your comment! More to come, indeed.
No cbing Byzantium is annoying because mil access can be a PITA sometimes, but I do it in all my games where I can do it because it makes the Ottos way easier to deal with.
Although another strategy I've had success with is buddying up to Hungary and bankrupting the Ottomans in Hungarian defensive wars (since Hungary tends to be decently strong and get allies like Austria, France, or Aragon) - always a hilarious experience.
I'm nowhere near skilled enough to actually do one-faith WCs, but I love your content style and presentation - factual, informative, not memey. Keep up the good work!
These strategies make perfect sense to me, and thank you!
I feel like I've discovered one of the eu4 big dogs on content creation in the earliest days. Your subscriber count has doubled since I very recently discovered you.
Like if you did a series of these where you did a world conquest from every continent that would be cool. it sorta self-regulates the no cb byzantium opener concern if you do a wc as ibadi kilwa or whatever.
I loved this video and I absolutely want to see you go all the way and complete this series
If you consistently conplete and upload world conquests with this level of quality and care in the video making process, you will go far
Thank you Mathew!
A WC from every continent sounds fun. Not sure I can do it as an American Native though :)
I appreciate your nice words, they mean a lot to me.
I saw someone on reddit do a one faith starting as an australian minor. This makes me believe that north american minor is surely possible also. Also the primary purpose of these videos is entertainment. Modded runs like an anbennar wc is also on the table
By the way, by any chance, would you have the username of the person who did it as an Australian native? I’m super interested.
@@StrategySphere Unfortunately I do not, I only remember the when which was leviathan
@@mpmmuirhead got it, thanks :)
These chill runs are so fun to watch. Thanks for the awesome content.
Glad you like them! Thanks a lot :)
I didn't realize you had to basically beat the game to get the holy horde... geeze
Haha yep, the requirements are a little wild. But it’s worth it!
It was one of the best eu4 videos I've ever watched
Thank you, I appreciate :)
Declaring a war without a casus belli should have different penalties, and they should affect your external (reputation, improve relations, liberty desire, etc.) rather than internal politics (stability, war exhaustion). Both for realism and challenging gameplay. Well done regardless, very nicely edited and narrated video.
just yesterday i finished a teutons into mongol empire run, albeit in the late 1600s. This along with stuff i learned from your video gives me the will i need to embark on an one culture run haha
Good luck 🍀 I have to say, not sure I can do one culture on this latest patch. Countries develop like crazy where they didn’t before, e.g. Japan and Korea.
Please shout if you manage to do this, and how!
The thumbnail of the video is interesting. I hit the like button before watching this video.
I appreciate this :)
Nice vid, concerning the bohemians if you siege down prague or the bohemian captial you get to potentially sack it twice once from a regular captial sack 2nd from an event which gives more than just money.
Ah, makes sense. I did get the event, I believe.
This is golden, the Holy Horder achievement is a thorn on my side because I never manage to go past Poland. Maybe I'm just bad, but this surely helps. Thank you, amazing content!
Thank you! Teutons have this particular challenge where you have to fight a powerful opponent early on.
I find that joining the HRE so they don’t attack, getting strong allies and attacking when they’re distracted (like in my case) makes all the difference.
I appreciate the starting moves. It has helped me get off the ground twice. But my rng was particularly bad with austria and poland/lithuania so ive had to restart 2 times. I'll be trying again today so we will see!
Good luck! Teutons is one of the more difficult starts in the game, early expansion isn’t easy.
But it’s still fun :)
Great! I decided to like the video but after the clip of your dog I directly suscribed. Could you consider in the future to go for a Sunset Invasion?
Thank you :) I will attempt it, not sure I can succeed… on the latest patches, the colonizers are insane!
I am happy to have found your channel.
Thank you, and welcome!
41:59 This is a one-time event that fires only in 1577 if you have hired a production advisor (Natural Scientist). It's a reference to the very real great comet of 1577.
Great to know! Thank you, will now keep it in mind.
Interestingly, I found this guide after I couldn't get my own Teutons run off of the ground (got locked out because super strong Ottomans).
I've been following your guide, and while my own execution may be off, you do have a repeatable strategy that isn't difficult to follow.
Glad I was able to help even a little! Hope you enjoy your game, Teutons are great fun :)
"holy horde"
the Lord has commanded us to turn off the security camera and Beat/Pillage the shit out of thee lol
Haha too true 😂
So happy I found this channel! You're clearly a great player and do an excellent job explaining your overarching strategy.
Thank you for your support! :)
Great video, fun to watch.
Thank you :)
Nice to see it split into two parts. One problem I had with the previous video is that you went through the later part of the game a bit too fast in my opinion.
Thanks Carl - I’m still learning my way so your feedback helps a lot!
@@StrategySphere You make good content, man
GOOD video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 👍
Awesome Guide! Can you pls do a Guide on Three Mountains
Thank you, I’ll put it in the queue :)
this channel rocks
Thank you 👍
another great video
Thank you :)
love the content man, what graphics mod do you use?
Thank you! It’s “theatrum orbis terrarum,” Ironman-compatible.
Love your videos man!
I appreciate that! :)
Слушай, я тут заметил, в принципе, учитывая те обороты, что ты используешь в речи, по твоим роликам и английский учить можно. Видео супер, спасибо за творчество 👍🏻
Благодарю! Рад, что есть польза кроме самой игры :)
Fun video. Wonder if you could get away with opening Espionage, into Admin second, then religious, then trade or something. Would definitely accelerate the expansion a bit. Not that that's necessary I'm sure.
Yep, I believe that would be a strong combination, too.
In a chill game I'd never do it, but if you're setting out for a WC, it's such a good idea to no CB Byzantium.
This makes sense!
the main reason i play paradox games is because i like seen catholicism win so great video lmao
Thanks for watching! I understand the sentiment :)
What is the map graphic mod do you use for your games? I used to use imperial graphics but it still hasn't been updated for 1.35, so I've been looking for a new graphic mod. Anyway great video!
Thank you - and it’s the “theatrum orbis terrarum” map mod.
Amazing channel, very entertaining, thanks! Why do you stay catholic? Wouldnt it be (maybe) better to go for orthodox or hussite (or something else)?
Thank you! I had to stay Catholic to keep the Holy Horde government type. Plus I enjoyed the Catholic bonuses.
My first One Faith was as an Orthodox Byzantium, was fun too.
Ah, iam stupid, thanks. One more question if you do not mind: i do not like the ideas very much of the TO. Could i change to the polish ifeasset and keep the chance of the achievement?
You should still be able to get the Holy Horder achievement if you then later form the Mongol Empire, yes. The game requires you to start as the Teutonic order but you can change tags.
The only achievements you won’t be able to get would be the Baltic Crusader and the Germany-related ones (unless you switch back to a Germanic culture later).
3:30 gov reforms
👍
nice guide, good video
Thank you! Part 2 soon.
Will you do one for Teutonic order expending into Germany?
Exactly. It’s in Part 2, already uploaded here:
ua-cam.com/video/5-5kBJ1cNQQ/v-deo.html
That's a nice map mod. What's the name of the mod?
Hey, it's "theatrum orbis terrarum," Ironman-compatible.
@@StrategySphere Cheers
for wq no cb byz is necessary you must divide time and ae effectively its like a bug but who cares :D
This makes perfect sense to me!
"200 likes in a couple of weeks" "gets 3 times that in less then a week"
Well beyond my expectations! Making part 2 asap.
Would you change something for 1.37?
what is the map graphics mod you are using?
Hi! It’s Theatrum Orbis Terrarum from the Steam Workshop.
@@StrategySphere Thank you!
i want to see the korea campain you mentioned in the russia wc!

Thank you sir! I love your videos can’t wait for the next one :)
how to get the ottomans not joining the war agaist bizantines ? when you fight byzantium .
Hi! It’s totally random, I don’t think as a player you can stop them (unless you fight them yourself).
I did this in 1.34 :)
Congrats! :)
I did the same, even completed a One Culture. But decided to replay for the guide…
Waiting for part 2
Thanks much, it’s on its way. Played till 1660, going well so far.
do you ever stream?
Hi! No, at least not yet. Still learning UA-cam :)
What did you choose in imperial protection mission?
Hi! I chose to join the HRE. If I recall correctly, I joined with restrictions.
@@StrategySphere thanks for your answer. And maybe stupid question, but i should't give any more priveleges above your before danzig mission to have crown land more than 30%?
@@Ivan-cg2pd Hmm, sorry, I don’t remember anymore, as I played this campaign a while ago. EU4 Wiki would have some indication, maybe? Sorry I can’t be more helpful…
which map mod do you use
Hi! It’s “theatrum orbis terrarum” from the Steam workshop, Ironman-compatible.
In my holy horde run I changed government for a moment to pick aristocratic for espionage+aristo, but that wasn't wc game. And my horses annihilated full strenghth turks, melting their armies like snow.
This is a great approach - did you also take the Horde idea group? 😂
@@StrategySphere yep :) And qual, that was fun meme cav run. And formed Poland for cca and moral.

??
I guess you hate every country outside of the Europe with no maps of that region since they can't no CB Byzantium at the beginning of the game 🤣
😂 not at all, some of my most enjoyable world conquests were by Ryukyu and Oda. But I see where you’re coming from!
This is very difficult because the AI is hyper player focused now since the recent update. It will simply focus down your vassals and you while ignoring everything else if it thinks it is stronger with more troops and manpower... even when you have more moral and discipline so you smash their armies; If anything it is annoying because it wastes time which otherwise could be spent sieging, ultimately causing exhaustion and war weariness tick up. Also, sieging absolutely devastates manpower reserves now, the only possible way to conduct unequal wars in the game now is to hire mercenaries to siege things to save your manpower pool. Whoever balanced this game, only seems to care about the niche PvP that only 10% of the playerbase even participates in, absolute dingus.
Also Siege RNG is BS now; 28% chance of surrender, stuck at 12 siege for a year, meanwhile the enemy gets 38% and instantly surrender while cycling from 7 to 12 in that time? Yeah BS, game is rigged, so bull. How about make your game fair paradox?
Thanks - I do agree the AI focuses on the player a lot. Also, it’s quite aggressive lately and will attack if it feels weakness…
i'm sure you can tell in hindsight but you wouldnt have needed to release novgorod as a vassal had you taken one lithuanian province connecting your mainland to muscovy, noticed it in the first peace deal. ive also noticed you often had high vassal LD at some points and if i can suggest something: your standing army and manpower are directly correlated to their LD. hiring a free company and efficiently using it will make managing rebels and enemy nations in wars much easier, im personally not a fan of the playstyle of having vassals about equal to you in size and dev AND not relying on mercs, especially since you kept getting manpower wiping events
but anymore and im gonna start backseat gaming LOL. these are humble suggestions from a fan, i dont know better than you
Hi! Absolutely agree with you, releasing Novgorod was a mistake. It blocked my expansion for a while, because of how I configured my borders.
I tend to over-do it with vassals, then struggling with their liberty desire.
After completing this myself, I agree that the no CV on Byzantium start is a must, mainly because the Ottomans become a big annoying threat that blocks your progress at any opportunity once they start rivalling you, which they will eventually and will do stuff like ally Muscovy (which is absurd, just shows the AI bends over backwards to wall in the player) or they start guaranteeing any AI who refuses to ally them when asked. As for Austria, Hungry and Bohemia wanting your provinces eventually, you never really have to worry about them breaking their alliance with you over territory disputes because by the time they get mad enough to break it, Austria's mission try will force the AI to declare PU wars on Bohemia first then later Hungry and in both situation the AI will contest (The AI is hyper aggressive this patch for some reason), meaning in both situations Bohemia and Hungry will shoot themselves in the foot in the process, you get dragged into these wars but you don't really need to do much as you just sit back and watch Austria and the HRE allies roflstomp both since their own allies won't get called in... because you all share the same allies and the mission tree event will prevent conflicting allies from siding with Hungry or Bohemia and instead side with Austria. Effectively giving you two free allies in the form of Austria's PUs while simultaneously ending Austria's interests in your territories because AI vassals under normal circumstances become incapable of fulfilling missions unless it is forced... by a player and the AI won't force it on their vassals because it is dumb.
However, you will not be able to take territory quickly and you'll have to slowly grind through Poland and Lithuania, especially if they are in a PU; What often happens if you do so, they won't form the commonwealth, instead they will constantly have succession civil wars after each conquest due to high independence desire from either party, with no one supporting either, meaning, they end up constantly embroiled in civil war and weak, making them even easier to defeat with each truce expire. With that said, expect unforeseen consequences, such as genoa and mamelukes taking Anatolia and Muscovy bloating super fast, you'll need to be quick on your feet and take the territories required to prevent them forming Russia before they reach tech 10, so make a beeline to do so before 1550 (which is roughly around the time the AI reaches tech 10). They are strong, but Austria is stronger, just worry about sneaky death stacks, so keep your forces clustered to jump on them, Tutons have better troops and mil tech and can beat them if you throw your whole army at their stacks.
Whoa, this is SUPER helpful, thanks a ton!
that Ottoman stackwipe on the island of Cephalonia was all Hungary's doing. That one lightship blocked the Ottoman retreat haha
Yep, you’re absolutely right. Overall, the Hungarians were a helpful ally, until our interests clashed.
While no cb is a tired start, when doing any kind of World Conquest, I think doing this and anything else to give you more flexibility and power are totally acceptable. If you're doing an RP run, I can get not liking the opening. Love your videos btw.
Thank you! And makes perfect sense re: the no-cb!
the order got nerfed since 1.35.6? or is this a mod. because my Teutonic order isn't that big. or is it a dlc if so I'm screwed I got this game for free forever agon on epic and tried to play but the order gets its ass kicked by poland
Hi! I play on Ironman, so it’s the base game, no mods. I only charge the graphics.
The Teutons is definitely a hard start, but once you get going it’s unstoppable.
I used your Russia guide and it was a smooth ride, albeit muscovy unlike novgorod has more problems with money it seems until I get trade ideas. I know you recommended taking the non permanent claim option for muscovy but I feel like the perma claims seems to work equally well. Admin wise it wasn't much difference and late game Russia has enough ccr reduction it seems.
BTW how do you deal with republic absolutism ( previous novgorod Russia save) the absolutism level fluctuate wildly fuebto election
Thank you - that’s a good point, actually early game the permanent claim option could be more optimal. It’s just I value permanent modifiers more.
As for the republican absolutism fluctuations - isn’t there a government reform which drops 40 absolutism at every election, or something like that? I never take this reform, so it tends to stay even.
First eu4 youtuber that i subscribe to, continue the good content
Thanks much - I appreciate :)
Nice video! It's cool to see the different strategy for setting up for a world conquest. In my TO campaign I was going for KHAAAN along with Holy Horder so I was snaking east a lot more. Your country definitely looks much nicer in 1600 lol.
Thanks, it’s a great idea to go for the Khaaan achievement while doing this!
