Roasting coffee grounds smell pretty bad though. I mean, it's a really natural smell. Imagine literally burning coffee grounds in a pan and that's what it smells like. There's a coffee shop a block away that does it. I have a Cheerio plant near me too. That smells like burnt popcorn mixed with Cheerios. The Cheerio manufacturing fumes smell better.

I was in Tanzania for 3 months and I was paying something like $2 for a tiny cup of weak and tasteless coffee after lunch… the hotel serves Nescafé classic and I was yearning for a good cup of joe… one of the street vendors sent me to a market in kinondoni and there was this old Chinese gentleman selling coffee… he roasted the beans whilst I waited and he told me his life story… while I drank the coffee with him… he charged $1 for the coffee but it was better than any coffee I’ve tasted in my entire life… before I left to go home I had to have one more cupa… when I returned 2 years later with the bosses… I hired him to keep the coffee flowing at an event… he made over $8000 in tips that evening… your video reminded me of such a good person…

This brings back memories. My grandad used to toast coffee beans over the fireplace and then grind the coffee beans with a handheld grinder. It would take him all morning to do that. The whole house smelled of coffee. And then he would make a Turkish coffee for him to taste his work. I have a similar handheld grinder that I use for spices. Very nostalgic every time I use it

Espresso drinks, like latte cappuccinos and americanos, are all made from one or two 'shot glasses' of espresso. You fill the rest of the cup with hot water or steamed milk. Or you enjoy it as a very strong but short drink like an espresso.@@stellviahohenheim
In case anybody is interested, this barista most likely won’t have used fresh roasted beans on the daily as it’s best to let roasted beans rest for at least a couple of weeks due to co2 gas being released. James Hoffman (as well as many others) has spoken about the reasons behind letting beans rest and what not. Flavor profiles of roasted beans develop and change daily. Crazy to be experience.

We used to do it this way when I was a child. My mom loves freshly roasted and ground coffee so we all had coffee utensils at home to do all these things. It is now that we buy a 100 grams of freshly ground coffee from supermarkets or coffee shops.

We've reached such a level of convenience and comfort that one of the only ways left to signal status is to make mundane tasks unnecessarily complicated for ourselves.
People have always done such things, that's how you get your coffee roasted, some guy felt the need to roast his own coffee, learned how it's done and started a company. Here in Mexico, at Costco, I buy a kilo of medium roast coffee beans from Chiapas in the southern mountains. ($12 DLLS) I grind them at home every morning. It yields a delicious, full bodied cup of coffee that is one of life's simple pleasures. 👌🙂

@pe.bo.5038 Well, I figured it was expensive. Which is why I said I would buy whatever they're selling, everything looks very high quality. It doesn't change how I feel about the short. Still good quality and inspires me to buy whatever I can afford. Which most likely is the coffee 😅 but I don't have coffee as a hobby, so I enjoy my plain cup of Joe at home.

People have always done such things, that's how you get your coffee roasted, some guy felt the need to roast his own coffee, learned how it's done and started a company.
