the coolest dreadlocks in the game - ladene clark (freeform).

- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Today I review one of the most iconic set of dreadlocks I have ever witnessed (Jaden Smith was a close second). These are of course non other than Ladene Clark's set of locs. Her freeform method has resulted in long epic dreadlocks almost touching the back of her knees!
Lets also not forget her great and unique sense of style. Ladene is maybe one of the most mysterious and interesting women with locs on the web.
Would you ever consider a set like this? Leave a comment down below.
On TPL Locs (that pineapple life locs) we review dreadlocks from people all over the world. We do videos on loc journey's, dreads in different cultures and reactions to (black) hair in the media.

Thid is the best review I have seen on Ladene. You showed pictures that I have never seen and you went into more detail.
Great review!
New subscriber here! 🙋🏾☜
Thank you for the kind words Lilmissfreens! I hope to continue making more in-depth review videos :D
Her locs are EPIC. I'd be happy if mine turned out half as nice as hers.
I was in Starbucks about a month ago. Had to compliment this brotha with locs extremely similar to this. His hair looked like ribbons.. very unique and beautiful 💯
If your hair is healthy and don’t have build up its only heavy when it’s wet
I never get why people think natural hair is SO heavy. Had a boss say that before!
The real Medusa #BeautifulBlackQueen
OMG! Thank you so much for this review! Everytimes I am scrolling on the web, spending hours to have hairgasm (lol, but u know what I mean) I had never know her name until rn, and as a french girl always lookig for inspirations, you have to know this girl, Valerie June and so much more are on feminine role model in the gang! So thank you,
Locs aren't supposed to be heavy, if she doesn't use products, then they should be light and fluffy
Dayleeyah Kalonji fr fr?
Locs get heavy on how length n thick they is.
I've had locs for 10 yrs. I stopped using products beside a little oil for my retwist. I clarifying frequently. My locs are heavy because my hair is extremely thick. I have several friends with locs...their hair is light weight. They don't have my density. They also use lots of products. I have to brace my neck while exercising due to the weight. When wet it's like balancing a bowling ball on my head with a towel wrapping it.
@@t.l1357 I have a friend whose locs are extremely thick, they're so long that they reach the ground, once she stopped using products and started using really hot water to get rid of the build up they got way lighter. Her locs are still thick and long, just lighter. She had the same issue with her neck as well. When she's drying them, it takes forever, neck pain etc....I use to have some of the same issues, most of them disappeared once I got rid of the product build up. Her locs are over 35 years old, mine are probably almost 30 years old...I dry mine with a German shammy, soaks up everything, no lint.
@@JahleeyahKalonji how do you detox them?
This is beauty.. I LOVE IT... love the freeform look🥰
🥰 I’m semi free but I’ve started combining some of my locs either by 2’s or 3’s depending the thickness. I started but journey with a mini fro, and grabbing hair and twisting, no same parts or order. My hair is soft so I wrap my new growth around the nearest loc. I’m not into palmed rolled locs. I use oils to touch up the and go throughout my hair, to separate my parts.
I will continue these steps throughout my journey, combining locs when needed, but my my end goal is to have nice thick locs. 🥰🥰🥰 I cant wait! 😂
This is lot like myself. I had small fro and i just grabbed random sections and began twisting. I started with approximately 77 locs and now I have 42. my hair is very thick and curly so they have combined on their own and not just at the roots . I too will continue my steps throughout my journey and see where I go from there. The goal is to keep the thickness fair at a short length but extremely thick after ive had another 5 years or so into the journey.
Blkeclipse L that’s awesome! I started with 187 but I haven’t counted them since I’ve started combining. It’s funny because I tell ppl all the time that my end goal is to have between 7 and 12 locs! It will be 3 years this March on my journey so it is very possible to get to my goal.
Blkeclipse L now I’m curious to see how many I have. I’ll get my daughter to count them and give u an update.
my word I love the style of clothes and the photo composition at 7:27
her style is truly something else isnt it! Such an iconic woman. Thanks for the kind words Felicia!
damn i thought i had dope freeforms. these are dope freeforms.
whats your insta?!
Sumayya'Iah Konjo it’s 0welcomehome0 !!!
I always admire her hair her hair is beautiful and she is beautiful.
She has those Florida style locs.
She may have fully freeformed them, my tips are blunted already and I'm not even a year in yet.
It is definitely possible. That is the beauty of locs, each set is so unique!
Shalom, I’m a newbie to your channel 😊 Nice video you shared about Ladene. I’m in 8yrs with my Locs,
and transitioning to ‘free form’ myself. Should have done this yrs ago, but you grow * learn on
this journey. To pass the right meaning along... we as a people have Locs ...not DreadLocs. Plz,
refrain from using that phrase. 😡 History tells us, this is an ‘incorrect’ manner to describe our crowns.
Just because Caucasian people started this back in the day, does not make it right. Don’t let another
ethnic group define who you are or what to name your ‘Crown’.
Evan Gero No not at all. Rastas stares to use the the term dread as a mean for fear or reverence to God
Can't express how much appreciation I have for your channel. Looking forward to a very lengthy sub😍

love her...…...
you are a good hostttt.... and yes shes so beautiful
haha thank you Chidera! Glad you enjoyed :)
Hey Sista, don’t call them dreadlocs. Whites called them dreadlocs because they looked “Dreadfull.” Call them Locs, Sis!
Hey Geriimil7, thank you for your comment! This is something that is debated a lot in the (dread)loc community on UA-cam, but personally I feel the situation is more nuanced. In the 60s there was a huge trend of the ''dread'' they aroused in the beholders, but alongside that, sources on Rastafarianism reported that the dread relates to the fear of the Lord, the alienation of contemporary society. This is also what Bob Marley stated in the documentary Marley. I am also in part a strong believer of giving words with former bad connotations a new one, by associating it with the glorious hairstyles found in this YT community. I do get where you are coming from, not everyone shares my opinion.
Looks like world haven’t seen my dredlocks
Thanks for sharing this video. I have always wondered about her locks. I would only see the updo at the Afropunk. Sooo beautiful.
I heard the free form locs are quite light actually. There is nothing wrong with saying dreads. Rastas say it as means of fear or reverence to God. I say dreads.
I love your viids. LOVING your Dreds
Thank you! :D
Beautiful
New sub to the channel!!! Great vid!!!
Thank you Lasaan! Its greatly appreciated :)
You're welcome!! i also have a loc channel. You can check it out if you want!!
you have a great set of locs Lasaan, looks awesome!
nice video
Where are you from? I like the way you speak.
haha thanks! I do not hear that a lot. I am from the Netherlands! However, MTV taught me my accent I guess haha. And a lil British, my dad is from the UK.
tpl locs. I always wondered if you guys say "Holland" or "Netherlands"? Must languages call it Holland, I speak Hebrew and that's what I've always thought 😂
@@TheLouis3877 Our country is called The Netherlands. North Holland and South Holland are just 2 of our provinces.
Dreads By Meghan NL Wow didn't know that, thanks! The languages I've learned (Hebrew and Arabic) called it holland. Always assumed it was correct. Thanks again.
I like pineapples
they are the best
Locs.
I found her Instagram page surprisingly
Haha that is a coincidence! I also found her page a week after I uploaded this video. For people who want to take a look: instagram.com/ladene_clark/
What's the point?
Uniform would indicate maintenance.
Jay VonnGee not always with black hair
“DREADlocks” 😑😑😑Sis, they are LOCS! Nothing dreadful about them!
Hudson • River • Apothecary a lot of Rastas prefer the term "Dreads" because they choose to use the definition of the word which means fear. As in how the Europeans feared these warriors. Today most manicured loc wearers notice "dreads" is mostly used by Freeformers and choose to associate it with negative connotation " ugly" and try to separate themselves from that because they feel different. But we aren't calling them "dreadFULlocks" tho. I guess it's all about perspective.
@@TheLouis3877 thank you for the history. The word is not a negative word, it has a meaning behind it.
Where is she so I can get back my buumbaclaaat
hahaha!
