heard him on a radio interview and his natural talking style is really deadpan - but when he sings - wow!
They're one of those rare bands that are a "live band". They make sense when you watch them play live. So much raw emotion that can't be captured on a record.

The double cowbell assault in the final minutes is simply too much to handle
Just one minute into this song, and I think they're my cup of tea! And it's due to a headline in an email from The New Yorker that I came here. The headline reads, "Squid is a Band with No Rules; That's Why Their Music is So Weirdly Listenable." I didn't even read the article, though I might. The headline really captured all I needed to know.
It would be a dream to see the lads live, absolute units.

At first I thought 3 guitars was gonna be a bit excessive, then Anton started playing his FX board and it all made sense.

I thought this was real cool, but I feel the guitars are too clean for his screaming vocals, like the guitars need to be heavier on the distorted side mostly, and then clean it up every now and again when his vocals aren't so screamy..know what I mean?

That's artistry at it's best. Watching and listening to these guys give me the same feeling when I heard back in the 70's for the first time such tunes as Achilles Last Stand, Xanadu, War Pigs or Echoes, etc...get my drift? Point is, these dudes rock and I can feel their artistry and expression.
It has to be a long, long time ago I have felt this much hype for a new album!
Can't wait to listen to the whole thing nonstop!

He's definitely way low in the mix, but you can hear him. The mixing here isn't stellar in general, especially the tapping part at the end should be way louder.

@@ravenkliff I personally wasn’t too crazy of the singles, though I did like their KEXP live. It was really well made. And even the singles sounded better live. But idk I’m not feeling it as much as I am with squid.
