Great tips. It's good to get some perspective on aspects of photography other than gear.

Guess Dad doesn’t know how to get himself made up, what the kids do for fun, or what the kids wear.

I've found I can't keep track of what everyone is doing if I'm looking through the viewfinder. Everyone is always doing something in a group. So, I agree with using a tripod. * Personally, I never shoot wider that f5, and mostly not wider than f8 as a go to, and sometimes to f16. But that's me.

I agree with using a tripod for groups & families. Communication aside, you can't see everyone's expression and other things through a viewfinder. I've tried, & it doesn't work. * I never, ever, for any reason, shoot wide open. Never. The depth of field is far too shallow. Having the eyes in focus and the nose and ears out of focus is ridiculous, but I see it a lot. And, I often don't want everyone in the same plane, so 5.6 minimum for me.

Tips #6 I still don't understand if using wide open aperture usually some pro suggested f/8 or r/5.6 for group photo's, do you mean get close to subject in order to be able shoot in wide open aperture?

It means that models need to be on the same distance from the camera. Instead of parents standing behind kids, it is better for everyone to stand side by side or to put the faces close together side by side if you want to take the photo wide open like F2.8. Then you can blur the background and isolate your subjects from the background.
