Apparently, this game had an actual release, probably a few copies and probably in Europe (As Titus is a French company). It has resurfaced in November 2020. Till then, the only thing that existed is the beta version from October 1999. This game is released 8 months after the demo.
It is similar to the N64 Superman, although it has completely different levels, story etc... However the lame gameplay makes this.

Can you imagine the different childhood people have if they went with THIS in the actual Superman 64 game?
Only 10 minutes in and I can already tell...
- The game looks and runs better
-The levels are better designed
- Superman already has his powers (and doesn't have to look for them)
- No rings
- The camera behaves better
- It even looks like the game controls better.
- Better sounds and music (and more voice clips)
A pretty huge improvement over the N64 game.

-The game looks the same and runs the same
-The levels are the same shit, although with less amplitude and polygons. Although, I emphasize that those polygons and wide settings of Superman 64 are plenty.
-He has the same powers. It shows that you have not played well Superman 64
-The camera is the same shit
-The control is also the same shit, WTF
-The only thing that improves is the sound quality xD
Anyway, it's the same shit but without rings.
Although looking at it, Superman's movement and movement animations in this game are more limited and crude. It looks like a walking stick xD
However he pointed out the positive side; It doesn't have unnecessary things and it has better mechanics and textures. Ah, and better enemies.

He never knew of this because it was never released.
James Rolfe, despite his AVGN career, knows surprisingly little about video games. it's not his passion after all. all his scripts and lines are written by other people.

They even have the N64 music in it, in which honestly fits better on this version than that bad cartridge version of the game.
Man, I wish this was released first and the N64 one was cancelled. This looks absolutely radical. A huge improvement over the Cartridge version.
You know what's shocking?
Superman on the Playstation (unreleased) is actually a way better game
than all of the Batman ones combined:
Batman and Robin,
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
& Batman Gotham City Racer.
This version actually looks kind of cool!

This port was developed in a very short amount of time by a partner studio who had just been recently bought by Titus the main guys who made the n64 version. It’s crazy to me how well this turned out finished or not. If this version had been released it could have very well been hailed as a classic and a really good Superman game. Instead Superman will always be stuck with the WB meddled and mandated n64 version
It's such a shame that this would've been a better Superman game. Titus put a lot of effort with the PS1 version and it shows.

Another good Superman game. Now on the Snes/Genesis, 2 on ps2/cube/x-box + Injustice 1 and 2(ps3 and 4), and now on the ps1
No way, Blue Sky software made this? I loved their SpongeBob game on PS2, there’s also a great documentary on the company which showcased how much adversity they overcame while making it. After watching that I decided they’re one of my favorite game studios
Blue Sky Software? The same people behind the Vectorman games & Desert Demolition? Dang they really went downhill.
they didn't make Spongebob on PS2, that was done by Big Sky(who also did that Jimmy Neutron game).

@@jadedheartsz Ohhh! Now I understand. I apologize for the mistake I made, this makes more sense. I love Vectorman, and I also had heard about this studio for its work on titles like the only above average Ren and Stimpy game, the one they made is far above any of the SNES ones, and the extremely ambitious port of Xenophobe on Atari 7800 (argued by some to be even better than the NES port, and that is crazy impressive) Also it’s quite tragic to hear of Blue Sky’s fate as well, apparently the PS1 was one of the last platforms they developed titles for (the only 2 titles they being Tazmania, and Evil Zone although in the latter case it was actually a localization of a Japanese game). I almost feel like, maybe if Superman PS1 actually got released, it could’ve helped them to continue to stay in business. As crazy as that sounds, I feel that being the responsible for a “good version” of a game that was infamously dragged on N64 even at the time could’ve actually been way more press for them. And at least then, they would’ve had more games under their belt that they were paid for,
Such a shame, to see that their story all but ends here considering these games are solid. But after PS1 it seems all they did was Java phone games, and shut down. Truly a great studio also worth remembering… I apologize for the mix up I made though

Oh, and do these loading screen transitions remind me heavily of those used in Crash Bandicoot: Warped, as well as in these two Net Yaroze games that used the same effect: Psychon and Blitter Boy?
Why wasn't this superior and more complete version of the game released to the public instead of what we got in the end?

@@dunkanbulk14 Indeed, and it is said Warner Bros. forced the port to be cancelled because of how much trouble they caused with Superman 64 with their meddling and were even prepared to pay a litigation settlement to Titus if they sued.
This reminds me a lot to The Fifth Element game.
This game has a similar feel to the PS1 Spider-Man games
Now THIS is the Superman we should get at the time; it is by no means perfe4ct, but miles better thatn the crap N64 release!
There is something kind of ironic when this PS1 was lost for years and believed to be an amazing game since the N64 version was horrible. Then after many years, a rom is found. Only to reveal its standard license garbage. So it is technically a million times better, but it still sucks.

I don't know, to me it looks like it could be an alright game, nothing too great or revolutionary, but I wouldn't call it a bad game.

Man Blue Sky Software went REALLY downhill after the cancellation of Vectorman 3: Ultra for the Sega Saturn. I hope this wasn't their final game, because if so that would be terrible. Though at least it DID eventually get a small release because that meant people were to experience something a little bit better than the N64 game, but still it's really crap.
They couldn't have done this on 64. Superman 64 made sub zero mythology look like a five star game. But not compared to the ps 1 verision

It is technically better, but it’s still bad. Here it’s just more standard license game bad.
The N64 game was essentially, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni..... for the fact that it did become the big disaster that it turned out to be. And that was all due to the troubled and complicated relationship the devs at Titus had with Warner Bros., dictating that they couldn't even led the Man of Steel fight against human-looking enemies.....
The unreleased PS1 game that was so close to hit store shelves after development of the game was completed and had just hit gold status, only for the game to be axed in the last minute when the Superman license expired and that Titus were unable to renew it, until it had surfaced in 2020, is essentially Kandagawa Jet Girls, for the fact that it wasn't really a total disaster unlike its N64 counterpart, but is rather considered to be a piece-a-$%!+, sorta speak. Not awful by any means, but still lacking and not as decent as it could have been.

Yeah, it is an improvement, but not too much of it. The camera and controls need more work, as the camera sometimes makes it hard to see and the controls are somewhat iffy (especially when one of the buttons turns Superman to face the opposite direction).
Huh. It actually looks... all right. The levels look unique, the bad guys look cooler, the controls don't seem great, but it looks like they work! According to Titus, after all the changes they were forced to make for the Nintendo version, their license ran out and they couldn't release it. Instead, we got this rancid anus tart of the game vomiting green rings in our face.

It was in development shortly after the original N64 version. It's seemingly Titus' original vision for the game unmarred by WB's attempts to sabotage it

It was released in very limited quantities over there in Europe. So limited that it was once rumored that it never got released when it actually did.

One of the most hated games on the nintendo 64 is on the ps1.
It really sucks that Titus lost the Warner Bros license before it was released to the public then later it went out of business after they made the shitty ass game of Robocop in 2003

Honestly it seems just as monotonous as S64, just with different tasks. At least you get to use his powers in this one though, that puts it a league above

I disagree. People always say Insert whatever is horrible but its like no duh you're comparing it to tech that was only invented what 20 years after it. No duh it won't stand up, but even then I don't think that should matter. Modern games have proved that good looking games can't stand on their own two feet look at The Order 1886 as an example where it looked super pretty but was a bore to actually play. I think the issue isn't we've gotten older, its that everyone has put to much stock in wanting games and all media to look "Hyper realistic" and New, when we really shouldn't. By all means a game shouldn't look like crap either but I'd rather play a fun and engaging game thats story and gameplay have me hooked for hours then one that just looks really pretty.
