For Tandem Takedown, if you have 3 rotpriests out you can also target the damage to the 3rd one and get 9 poison straight away, possible at 22:24 but not necessary in that instance lol
16 Fucking Rotpriests GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Creature - Phyrexian Druid 16/32 Toxic 16 (Players dealt combat damage by this creature also get 16 poison counters.) Whenever a creature you control becomes the target of a spell, target opponent gets 16 poison counters. "holY shit" -Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger
I built a really cool 5 color Commander deck that used Zada, Hedron grinder as the secret commander. That paired with a bunch of pump spells and Venerated rot priest usually took the board out in the same turn it was played lol
I tried something similar using the repulsive mutation but man, that tandem take down is a great idea. I did have 3 copies of Mirrorhall Mimic. Reduced that number to see how take down works. I also have Doppelgang. Even if it only gets 2 extra rotpriest, it is still good
Theoretically, in match three, I am not exactly sure how tandem takedown works, but if you can target a rotpriest with the damage, it would have been 11 poison.
My mistake was thinking it could help in match 3 as well. You could use the third targeting on your own dude to get 3 target triggers but that requires a third dude because it says "another" target so the first two can't be targeted (I think). Thank you for the amazing content as always. Hearing you talk through your thought process makes me a better player and that is why I watch.
I was working on a sideboard for this deck. What if it was modular? Where we go from 16 Rotpriest.dec to a mono green toxic deck? With Cavern of Souls as a SB option against control (naming Phyrexian)? Maybe add in blue from the board for Dooplegangnsjenangoans?
Repulsive Mutation is a good include for making a rotpriest a much bigger threat and get the battle flipped. The 8/8 is a good blocker and also allows your rotpriest to deal damage even when blocked. Just saying..
It's interesting to think that a best case scenario would let you use Tandem Takedown on 2 Rot Priest to target a 3rd Rot Priest and have that card deal 9 poison by itself. Not sure how you could have 3 of those in play and still need to apply 9 poison, but still pretty intense.
Good stuff - question: when you're holding up protection spells, shouldn't you play more Rotpriests before attacking? Just to get more poison counters in case you have to play a protection card. Match 2 has an example when you attacked the second time
If they have removal they would likely just cast it in response to the second Rotpriest, so we would just give them extra information before they have to decide what to cast. The exception is with cards like Wandering Emperor where the timing of their removal could matter.
Bushwhack might be better, because it scales with the number of rotpriests. Perhaps there's another variant that's even better. Thirsting roots can only give one extra counter. It has the benefit of not needing a rotpriest, so it still might be better...
@@LegenVD But 1 Mana less to cast and it has at least the option not to go for an land, but to get a (one last) poison counter. Play a priest deck similar to your form newbie to Diamond. Thanks for pointing out Invasion of Ikoria to me, the biggest problem with this deck were matchups in Round 7+ an still no rotpriest... :) I also like the idea of giving poison with no more rotpriest on the board with the roots.
LVD, have you considered trimming two of the search effects for two Tear Asunder? Gives you a cheap answer to Temporary Lockdown, which seems to be this deck's worst case scenario for getting rid of Rotpriest.
We can answer Lockdown with Archdruid's Charm or Boseiju, so don't think we need more of those effects in the main. After sideboard we could always add more.
@@LegenVD I forgot how much text is on Archdruid's Charm! But those scenarios make sense, too. Have you considered some copies of Leaping Ambush? It allows you to target a Rotpriest, untap it to block against the more aggressive strategies, and even block fliers which this deck seems to also struggle against.

I think the first game was the luckiest I have ever seen you get. Topdecking 2 rot priests and then getting the pump spell last turn was insane. That's the one criticism I have for your videos, you don't always include the decks winrate, so someone might actually see the video and see it winning and think its a viable deck
I’m always happy to give my opinion on a deck at the end of each video, which will distill my experience of playing the deck in the current meta. Sharing winrates over a sample of 10 or fewer games is statistically insignificant and can be skewed by a lot of factors, such as play/draw and the surprise factor of an unknown deck which wears off after a few days. That’s why you won’t see me claim any outlandish win rates in my video titles. I always recommend to people that are tight on wildcards to wait a week or so after a video is posted so Untapped has time to gather more data on the deck. That way you’ll get a much bigger sample size and a more honest representation of a deck. Videos are also meant to be entertaining and nobody wants to see games where someone doesn't get to play Magic.
I see, really appreciate the reply. I thought you played more than 10 games with the deck. I get cutting out the games where you dont get to play, but I also wouldnt mind see more of you losing! As long as its a game where you got to play your spells.
6:20 enemy should have tap, then Demolition to get one more counter? Obviously not much you could do about that :) Edit: Oh, never mind, Rotpriest has toxic.
I don't understand the title. You have nothing that copies the rot priest and little to target all of them at the same time, so where are you getting the title?
each creature tutor is being counted as a rotpriest, because that's essentially what that card will be grabbing, 4 one mana rotpriests and 12 3 mana rotpriests
Lol... Solemnity destroys that deck completely. Hm... that is if you don't already have ten counters on turn three. Ah... and I saw a Boseiyu there, so that could target the enchantment.
Poison is just such an unfun deck to play against. Really lame. Hardly any interaction with the mechanic itself and 10 poison counters add up way too quickly.
Thank you for the perpetuation of the s**tty card and gametype in Standard. Everything for the views I guess even if it means a crappy experience for everyone who finds this card an aberration.
But I'm not. I follow you because I really like how you discover some interesting tech but as I do many also do and have no issues in using your decks over and over. There are cards that should not exist and the Rotpriest is one of them hence I said what I said.
