Very cool reaction and i liked your comment and analysis :). On the new album there are so much great songs (also very diverse/different songs). For sure this is also beautiful song :). I think the song is about the need to build some type of skin because being too valuable can be painful in out world (or as you mentioned in relations etc) but in the some time you dont want to build it too much as you should be able to pass emotions, empathy and you dont want to just put big wall etc.

She fought against Simon Cowell's company trying to turn her into another Jojo Siwa and sing their songs. The songs she wrote were personal songs for herself and they got angry and impatient with her because she wasn't writing poppie dance numbers. She tried but she kept coming out with broody melodies. Try "Faults" "Red Footprints" and "Fked Up Years" the later being about a period she went through realizing her career was going nowhere. Over 8 years she had a few songs that were sure hits that her label never released as singles. Try reacting to this one that was used by Windex for a commercial. It was so effective the US Advertising changed TV commercial laws.
