Listening to this man explain everything is like taking a masterclass in fabrication and Chad asks all the right questions. I think this is his best ever interview.
The one thing I would love to hear the answer to is, when that press is pressing the metal out, how much does it take away from thickness, and is there a failsafe to keep it from getting too thin?
Good on Chad for learning something new today! That should teach us all something. Never too old or too successful or too well known to learn a new skill. Always be willing to learn!!
@@jamesmatheson5115 too bad you missed the whole subject of this video.. its not about Chad its about SALTWORKS and the business this guy built and runs and puts his heart and soul into..
I am really impressed with the Sarasota Saltworks fabrication process, the outcome, and the willingness to offer information and tutorial with Bad Chad. He is really generous with his time and knowledge.
I have tried TIG welding with some success, the experts make it look easy, but it takes practice and you have to get comfortable so you can repeat the process over and over for a decent period of time. That to me is the hard part. Very Nice work!
Chad & Jolene thank you for the tig welding lesson! Chad you can no longer say that you have never tig welded now! It seems like it would be much faster and cleaner the only thing is your cuts have to be perfect so there are no gaps. Jolene thank you for this video it was great!
Nice learning videos from a well maintained shop and a group of dedicated workers and Bosses; just so overwhelming to view it all! Good job on the TIG Chad and wonderfully taped Jolene! (Miss that Fina Girl).
Excellent video with the welding lesson ... Chad 's gonna want one... Good for you Jolene for helping Chad learn new skills and the possible next level for BAD CHAD ..
Awesome video Jolene. And thats great Chad learning how to tig weld and trying new things and learning new things. You learn something new everyday. Get you a tig welder Chad and go for it brother!! That shop is awesome!!! Oh and the Big Boy statue is cool. Comes from Friches Big Boy originally from Cincinnati Ohio. Sad they are closing most of them down now.
Thanks for the wonderful insightful, memorising comment Aaron....except one thing, in your own words yesterday you said all the "shit" this guy has in his shop. But today it's "awesome". So it seems you're either confused or contradicting yourself.. 😘🤡 Merry Xmas
Damm, awesome. Got my first lesson by a professional. Never tig welded in my life doing autobody repair for 45 + years. My son has done this for years and said dad? Come out, and I teach you to tig weld. That I'd never go back to using a mig.
Kudos to the Chad for exploring his programming options. Chad has world class strenghs. He is a great teacher; and certainly many come to learn and be inspired. But, the hazard is that the same lessons can get stale. Expanding the range of technological metal fabrication options could well be within the range of interests of his viewer base. Basic rule: if what you are doing is not working, try something else.
He should have let you follow up the tig weld with a few minutes on the CP planishing hammer, then you would appreciate the real advantages of tig welding, minimal to no grinding of welds. Tig has a steeper learning curve than mig welding but once you get the hang of it you'll learn the advantages, health and speed wise.
he somehow used manual pulsed tig without knowing it. the Saltworks guy let him go. fact is, the less you know about tig and just try it the less you are intimidated. once you realize what's really involved. well, start practicing. and practicing. and practicing. so many subtle things with tig.
To be fair it was his first time. I'll give him some credit for not burning up the electrode which almost everyone does at the beginning. Practice makes perfect.
Great video, once again thank you for taking us along bad Chad and Queen Jolene !! on a sidenote, I tig welded many many high-pressure steam pipe at nuclear plants, and chemical plants etc., etc. but if you get any dirt or any air blowing around, you will get what they call porosity in your welds !! And that is not good. We had to have our weld x-rayed and if something showed up, you be grinding the weld out and doing it over. ✌🏼💯😎🎄
Not really tig only concentrates the heat in the weld area and does not warp the metal,oxy/ACEYLENE can still do the same work but way way to hot.Almost the same ,but not really, depending on the thickness of metal.

Looks like no one is interested in the husk of the original steel 'Woody', but that would be right down Chad's alley - wonder if he could get it back up to Nova Scotia...?
I education is secondary priority you got to learn how to work with your hands I got to sing Chad knows how to work with his hands he just needs somebody to show him what he don't know

Chad will never do it again, too much effort for him to do it right, plus 5 minutes after being shown he would have forgotten it all.

A wonderful Tig Welding Lesson for Chad . Back in the late 1950's & 60'S there were lots of DIVCO milk trucks
Thanks for saying what the truck was! I dont watch the videos anymore, just read the comments!
thats really impressive for your very first tig weld
Glad to see Chad learning some new skills!
Very well explained I used to Tig weld aircraft parts
Beautiful shop

The front grill of that aluminum truck looks a lot like the old Difco delivery truck from years ago.
Great episode guys, thanks for sharing. 👍
Clas was in session today. Man runs a smart business. Chad may have to get him a tig welder now.
It's Sunday funday. Go BAD CHAD AND JOLENE

There all standing there hearing about how he would chop the top and thinking he's nuts🎉
one thing about people that are nutz they think everyone else is!
Chad is an awesome fabricator and knows his stuff when it comes to chops since that's primary of what he does

All tig is the same as oxy/ acetylene glorified welding with electric .
as a kid in the late 50s/60/s all i had was a jewelry oxy/acet torch. I did a lot of learning with that little set up

After all the years that you have done what you do and you didn't know how to tig
I've notice something it all about chad
Well the channel is called Bad Chad! Duh!!
Chad is learning how to wreck more classic cars. Cut and glue them together to make a real mess. I think they both smoke a lot of Dope.
