Actually, this video is so good and informative, I just hit the sub button. Really, there are no other videos on youtube that I have found that explain this.
Hello there. Wonderful video . Is amazing how your corals look so good. I have a question for you. I have Two radion xr 15 5g on a mix tank using kalkwasser. Alk is at 9.5 and caium 440 stable . What template and intensity you recommend to use . Please help .
Knowing what my water parameters should be is something I really need to learn. I stopped testing when I realized I really didn't know what any of it meant. Should probably figure that out soon though
Hi thank you for the very informative video. I just have 1 question. Do you dose after water change or should I wait for couple of days? When is the best time? Thank you❤
Awesome thankyou so much this is the first video I have watched that explained things so newbies like me can understand. You are also pretty cute so that made the video even better 😊
Tank looks great as usually. Red Sea has always been my go to for salts and additives. They have been in the game since I was a kid in 90’s trying to keep salt water life alive. Keep up the good work. How’s your law stuff going?
Thank you for this. Im starting up 150gal tank, looking to keep softies and i was judt really anxious about dosoing. And i feel better though im sure my anxiety will still overthink it into oblivion lol
Weird to see this in my feed, but I'll give the algorithm its due this was entertaining and informative. Not to mention, the reef tank is really cool to look at.
A much simpler and waaaay cheaper way to do this would be to use All for reef. It keeps all 3 of your parameters stable, all you need is 1 powder instead of 3 different liquids, 1 doser instead of 3, and it includes all of the other trace elements! Also, if ya'll still want to go the 2 part way....choose BRS....its cheaper and it's pharmaceutical grade stuff!
Did you use dry rock or live rock and how long did it take for your tank to cycle ? What do you think is better , live or dry ? Just wanted your opinion . Everybody has a love , hate it seems with both
I think a mix is best. My aquascape uses dry rock but I have live rock in my sump. Planning to add more too. Cycling with live rock is the quickest and best way but it depends on the individual tank how long that takes - just check your water parameters consistently during cycle process and gauge from that
I highly recommend Red Sea Test Kit. Hanna is great too but it’s expensive and if you’re on a budget then go Salifert. They are good kits as wel and use them for pH, No4, No3 testing. My KH, Ca, Mg I use Red Sea kit. I use the Coral Pro Salt cause it gives me a jump start on keeping my tank stable. And she is right about testing for two weeks. I test KH daily. Also number one rule and I learned this later “DO NOT CHASE NUMBERS” ever. Just be share it’s with a range. Give your self a spec range like for me for my KH I made a range for my tank “10-11” KH. If it’s within that range I don’t fret. So be sure you’re not chasing numbers because you’ll do more dmg to a tank by doing so. Also, you’ll start dosing as soon as you add LPS/SPS cause they consume a lot of KH/Ca. At least that’s what I noticed in my tank.
oh, i am newbie, but would throw this hannah salinity checker into the trash immediately, had my tank at around 40ppm because of it, right after calibration showing as 35:D
Careful what you wish for with coralline. If you really want it you may want to test for Iodine and then dos that. In my experience coralline explodes when that’s is in check. You might need to seed it with a coralline algae bottle.
i was told by a LFS owner to dose my 2 part once a week and to unplug my heater, every torch in my tank died, and everything now is dying and i dont even know what to do lol, its like my corals wont even consume anything, also i checked my refugium the other day and all my cheato was gone.... -_- wtf (IMPORTANT: ive never noticed any skeletal growth and no matter how deep i look into it i cannot figure it out)
As a rule never dose anything into your tank until you tested your water using a reliable test kit (like Salifert) and only dosing enough to account for how much the corals suck up. If they’re not consuming anything and levels stay the same, that’s good! Means your tank is stable and keep as is. That’s why testing water is sooo important. Sorry this situation happened - I’ve been in the exact same boat before 😩 you’ll rebuild dw!
About soft coral like green star polyps do they need alkalinity and magnesium and calcium as much as hard coral and I got a mushroom coral and tree coral and they died and the guy definitely lied I just took my money and said my water is good
No they don't require as much! Most of the time water changes alone can replenish. But need to be checking water parameters to gauge how often need to do the water changes - I recommend Salifert test kits ☺️
Thanks for your info I got only two Salifert test kits and I would love to have my tank or tanks looking like your plus my uncle said my tank is still basically In cycle mode but saltwater is definitely a lot to learn but got a question is it bad to mix two different sands together and also you said Red Sea is like one of the best brands and I’m using instant ocean right now but got a lot of questions but I appreciate the reply back tho plus you look good as your tanks 💯💯 but thank you
The blocks they sell for salt tanks make it a no brainer. I had a Berlin system and would run two of the big blocks set them right by the filter intakes works great. Also never add fish to your tank with the shops water they use copper for the fish and the copper will kill your Coral's. All the dosing is a pain the blocks are best one kilo blocks I ran two they dissolve as needed . Dosing is a waste of time and money if your not on top of it. So the blocks make it easy .
@@BlackGoldReefing yes Sea Lab 28 is correct they are great I'd buy two of the big ones and place them by the water intakes to make sure the flow of water helped dissolve them into the tank
@@adamlong54 Yeah those don’t get talked about much these days. I have used them for a while now and get good results. I still dose ALK to keep that up, but other trace elements are added through the block. I keep it in my sump in a low flow area and it dissolves as needed. This trick was given to me by a LFS years ago. One box will last me 2 years almost

I have so much to learn about dosing and testing. Thanks for all the info.
A woman who speaks english and likee reef tanks. ❤ subscribed.
Excellent video! You explained dosing very well. Thanks for the education.

Glad it was helpful!! And welcome to the channel 🫶
You’re a GEM!💎 Dropping some very good knowledge! 😎 Thank you!🤙🏼
Amazing video, right to the point. Thanks
Thank you for the easy to understand info. What is your back of the tank look? Something behind the tank? Looks great

Dude. The tank looks awesome! I know you've been wanting to add rock or change some things but I really appreciate the way it is right now!
Thank you!! Moved a few corals around and it looks wayyyy better now though 🥹
This video helped me so much with dosing more than any other video. Subbed

I like what you did with the lights on your reef thank 👍🏻.
What brand of lights are you running?
I appreciate this video, as im looking into dosing. Thank you for the video
Hi thank you for the very informative video. I just have 1 question. Do you dose after water change or should I wait for couple of days? When is the best time? Thank you❤
Only dose if your water parameters tell you to dose (I.e., no longer in stable range)!
Awesome thankyou so much this is the first video I have watched that explained things so newbies like me can understand. You are also pretty cute so that made the video even better 😊

i personally started using the triton method paired with a carbon reactor on my 200 gallon and it is awesome!

Switched over to AFR a few months ago and my tanks alot healthier than before, massive coral growth too
Excellent presentation, please remember we are also Keepers of Algae! The basic unit of life in the ocean 😂
is there a way to automatically monitor water parameters and have the dosing automatically on those parameters?
Ty for this info girl
Your tank is so beautiful ❤❤. Luv it. 😍
Thank you! 😊
Great video love the info great 👍 job
Love your tank so nice
Great video 👍
What made you pick Red Sea brand instead of the BRS brand?
I use a reef octopus calcium reactor for my reef tank. With two little fishes media and remag

What is the blue coral in the middle at the bottom. Looks like a blue bubble coral?
How do they consume alkalinity??
What’s your schedule program?

Nice.
Very informative, thank you! Can you do a follow up video on proper LSD dosing please?
Absolutely
I think you've helped me decide to just make my 240g a arowana aquarium 😜😜
My tank is almost 2 years old, and I dose when needed, and I still haven't got coralline alge I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong 🙃
Careful what you wish for with coralline. If you really want it you may want to test for Iodine and then dos that. In my experience coralline explodes when that’s is in check. You might need to seed it with a coralline algae bottle.
Have you introduced anything with Coralline on it? Frag plug, rock, etc? If you don’t see it won’t grow

What's your parameters like alk, ca, mg? Thanks
Calc 420, Mag 1400, Alk 7-9 are standard for euphyllia tanks. they like a lil extra magnesium.
How do I become a Keeper of Water
I will be doing more guides like this so you too shall become a Keeper of Water
needed this refresher so I didn't go nuts buying dosing supplements for 5 corals #wearethewaterkeepers

In my opinion yes!
How often do you test your water?😊

Why did your fox face look red at the beginning of the video
I like your new light setup but you gotta zip tie them power cords together it drives me crazy every time I see it 😂
Right 😭😭😭
I use a Trident to test water, but do occasionally use salifert.
I still have to set mine up 😅
just get all for reef.
Look your video
It wasn’t clear but are we the water keepers?
Cover foto, cute.
My pet is not the clownfish it is the water 😂
Exactly!!!
I thought this was about weed..
The algorithm is really sending this vid weird places 😂
Why is this on my feed? I mean, really?
Same, very strange considering I've never watched anything like this.
All I use is rodi and klkwasser 😅 been reefing for 20 yrs. Don't fall for the name brand hype.
Love kalk just switched!
Alkalinity is not an element.
Nope, no need to dose. My 16 gallon biocube does not need this and it has been running great for years.
Like I mentioned, dosing is necessary only if your water changes can’t keep up with corals needs!
That’s because you hate me lol
Do we need to dose if I just have softies and euphyllia?
Only dose if you notice your water parameters are dropping when testing! Usually water changes will be sufficient, but very important to test anyway
Awesome. Check your messenger on Facebook about some new product testing when you get a chance.
