Normally I hate clowns, and honestly, that Jack in the box is absolutely terrifying, but between the scene where it was struggling to fit in the vent and when it started clapping, I found it stupidly adorable. It went from scary to goofy and I love that because nobody has made a killer JITB/snake thing before.
+No Good Usernames Left Although the Gingerbread Men were my favorite (I tend to like monsters who work together as good buddies. I don't see that often enough in monster movies.), the Jack-in-the-box WAS awesome! It moves and eats like an anaconda and the end of its "tail" has the still-playing music box reminiscent of a rattlesnake's tail.
+Mr Slappy Sorry but CGI is a cheap and lazy way to do movies. Puppets, animatronics, makeup, models those are skills and makes the movie more interesting. If you were a low budget movie then yeah you can go with CGI but most of the times they will get bad reviews. Not saying all CGI movies get bad reviews.
These are all probably the best horror movie creatures I've seen in a long time. Because it's not all completely CG and how they made REAL art by hand. And I liked the movie, but I wouldn't call it "shit your pants terrifying" but it certainly is a fun watch.
Man, this movie was a blast! I had a lot of fun with the awesome effects, the wonderful creative creatures and the great cast also having a good time plus the perfect score. This was a delight, go see and support it, because it deserves it. One of my favorites this year.
THIS is the reason why CGI can never, ever replace practical effects. Knowing there's something in front of the camera actively interacting with the actors on screen makes a movie 100% more interesting to watch!
The puppets were probably the best part of the film. My roommate and I just completely flipped to see actual puppets in a creature flick again. They were both creepy and funny at the same time.
"Instant classic" is an overused term these days, but I genuinely think it applies to this movie. Definitely a new Christmas tradition in my household.
I don't think this movie would have worked if not for the decision to use as much practical effects as possible. WETA will always be the absolute best at it's craft!!
My sister: I want a baby teddy bear! And an angel doll! Me: I want a bear that murders people with 200 sharp teeth. And an angel with claws and feathers on their wings.
Krampus was one of the best movie of the year for me. Muppets/animatronics were amazing.... that scene when elves come was pure awesomeness... also that toys fights ;D Can't wait to rewatch it on blu-ray
the exciting stuff in the movie is towards the end when they went in the attic and the cookies on fire the jack and the bock was a bit of a jump scare to me
Brilliant movie. Absolutey love the creepy ambience of the sets and the whole feel of the movie. Nightmarish indeed and a Must Watch for me every year.
i love you guys so much. i still remember having a super long conversation with richard taylor a few years ago at CCEE with a friend and it was such an amazing experience.
It's great to see that the art of practical effects is still thriving. CGI effects have their place, of course, but nothing beats good old-fashioned physical effects to achieve that look of physical presence and weight.
I watched this for the first time tonight and loved it. The practical effects were the highlight for me. Such gorgeous designs and so well executed. The skill of these people is incredible. Practical forever!
I love love LOVE the movie! At first I thought it was all amazing cgi because barely anyone uses animatronics but to learn this! This is just amazing! To be completely honest, the clown to me was terrifying. You all did an amazing job with everything. I applaud you!
I love this movie! It was an awesome throwback to 80's creature features. I miss practical effects and this movie deserves way more credit for bringing this sort of thing back. At the same time, watching this featurette sort of ruins it because it might take me out of the movie the next time I watch it. Knowing exactly how the effects were done kind of spoils it. If you really like this movie you should check out "The art of Krampus". It's a hard cover coffee table book full of concept art, background information on the film etc. I can't wait for mine to get here from Amazon.
@@steeter6 Wow I was just talking about Clue. Time for me to watch that again. And yeah NIghtmare before Christmas is amazing. I haven’t seen the crow in 20 years and I’ve yet to see Coraline. I will change that soon
+Syrika Powell OMG SAME!! I had an idea that he was going to come down the chimney when listening to the soundtrack. But DAMN I have NEVER been that scared of an on screen monster as much as I was when he came down that chimney!! They really milk his entrance and you just freeze when you see his horns emerge from the fireplace. I thought I was the only one.
this is thee most different scary movie iv seen in years...........I LOVE IT!!!! #1 best movie in my opinion. good job and skill and creative work. I watched it in theaters 2-3 times. it is that good!!!!!!!!
One of The most Creepy/Beautiful Horror Movies Ever. Alongside The Newest Halloween (2018), The Newest Friday the 13th, and The Newest Friday the 13th. Very Well Done.
My drama teacher said before this film came out that she wished to have a film come out without overused CGI and Krampus gave that to her, such an amazing film
My boyfriend Dominic loves this movie he already knew about Krampus years ago. And he s so glad that they made this film on the old legend tales what have you. We had to buy a copy of Krampus as soon as it hit the stores Dvd. I have to say i thought it was okay myself. He hopes that they make a second film and this time they show Krampus face under the santa mask. In fact he has already made two home made custom figures of krampus. And he hopes that they ll come out with some figures from the film of Krampus and some of the other monsters in the film also.
I kinda wished the other toys like the ones in Krampus’ sack were shown how they were made- 1:19 “Dark Elves” 2:06 “TikTok/ Toy Robot” 2:44 “Perchta/ The Cherub” 5:02 “Teddy Klaue/ Teddy Bear” 6:48 “ Krampus “ 9:04 “ Snowmen “

They sort of did back in the 80's in a really boring and cheap Full Moonroductions movie Demonic Toys.
Huh... Go figure. Thanks for the bit of knowledge. I may watch it solely to commentate on it with a friend or two.
The only Clown I like is the Joker because DC is awesome.

That and the angel I love these two monsters.
+No Good Usernames Left I like the monster teddy bear
I wonder what THE clowns whole body looked liked under THE sheet and cloths
+DJ Studios Well it's basically like a snake creature, so I assume all the cloth is its skin and underneath it is its insides...
I love it that they're bringing back puppets and animatronics to movies instead of all just overused cgi
+harlett- o-scara right
+Mr Slappy Sure cgi might be good, but using puppets and robots is good and really awesome. I'm not offending cgi by the way.
YES!!
Reminds me of Jurassic park

Der Klown was definitely the most creepiest character and thats why people love him!
I liked how they reimagined Krampus.. I love how they added elements of St. Nicholas, and then added animal like features.
the possessed Angel prop is absolutely beautiful!

I would say that Teddy klaue is one of my favorites too in the movie
which movie think it's awesome and cool Krampus or Star Wars? to me krampus I would give it 10 stars and Oscar for it.

Any way good work
Do you know any place that would show a more in depth of how krampus's claws were made? Those finger extensions were amazing.
IKR
Working there would be so amazing.. Or even interning!! It looks so amazing. When I grow up, I want to intern there if they have them.
Seriously, you guys really hit it off! I love it! Keep up the good work!

The dark elves are kind of terrifying, and also my favourite, and I like the way how is the to
The Yule Goats (the animals that pull Krampus' sleigh) don't get enough love.

amazing stuff. watchin this gave me the biggest smile on my face.

Who else would buy toys of these things? I'd buy the robot and I don't have space for it.
+flair541 I'd buy the terror bear and a toy of Krampus himself. I'd also pitch in a few more for the robot and the clown.
Josh Sauer The clown?
yea, why not? I think it would be an awesome toy to have!

yea there was, the Jack in the box.

God the scene where the gingerbread man and elf or clown or some other toy pulled Howie up the chimney was just to good and violent! Really good work!

some of the best horror movie practical effects in the last twenty years
