Wow..I used to fly all the time here in the late 1970's. Nice to see it still working for you guys, but what an incredible change to the buildings/community!
I dropped in to Lennox a couple of times. Both times it was really blowy. I was told that its not worth flying unless there's a heap of white cap. I thought that was mental and left my glider on the car while they were flying tandems. But you didn't have whitecaps at all. Just wind lines.
Gday Col when you changed the trim slower did you just move the dingle dangle a hole back and what hole you flying it at now . Mines in the middle but I find it a bit stiff in the roll out unless I pull in heaps trouble is I don’t really know much bout the trimming side of hang gliders yet. Told Moyes bout it 8 months ago when I bought it new but they said you will get used to it 🤣but I want to trim it best I can for me . I hook in at 82 kilos in a gecko 155 pro. I just bought Brad Porters rx 3.5 all carbon which is trimmed to perfection for speed , but I need to get this 10000 dollar gecko flying right . You know of any people who specialise in that , maybe at Canungra I’ll get Jonny to look at it and if you see the bright red gecko struggling to keep up with ya it will be me😂🤣👍🇦🇺🍻
Hi mate, I reckon their advice to give it a while, till you get more used to it was sound. Not sure how many hrs you have on your Gecko but whenever stepping up into a higher performance/higher aspect ratio glider the slight delay in roll means you have to respond a touch sooner to turn where you want it to. After at least 10+hrs this becomes second nature and even less noticeable as hrs increase. Now I weigh 82kgs and hook in at 95kgs on my 155.. My Gecko was not able to goto mush mode ( which is just before a gentle nose drop), when flying hands off ( flying on your finger tips). I think the dingle dangle was in the middle hole and moving one hole back achieved my favourite trim of able to sniff out the lift with almost no pitch input ( flying on fingertips)- of course this has slowed my roll rate somewhat yet it certainly is still nice even after leaving my Sting3 which has the lowest aspect ratio of any sports wing. Of course going to the Sting after my decade with my C4 topless was an epiphany of joy. Now I know you are trying to change your c of g to change your roll rate ( different to what I was trying to achieve) and that will make a difference if a glider is too slow. The beauty of these modern hanggliders is they are very customizeable to suit all tastes- how slow does it fly hands off? Sometimes technique is a big factor? Have a trusted advanced pilot in your weight range fly it - even better a Gecko pilot. I don't want you to make any c of g trim changes till you have exhausted the other factors-I'm sure you will test at your favourite easy coastal site in similar conditions is also important. Jonny and other top Moyes pilots will want you to feel really happy with your glider and if other trim change are needed ( and there's many) please contact them. Your sports wing will perform nearly as good as your advanced RX 3.5( which will have another slight delay) but with the Geckos extra forgiving nature. I hope I've helped....
@@colrushton8304 thanks mate , yeah I’ve had Tony Armstrong fly it and he said it’s not quite right in roll and can be heaps better, I have 12 hours in it and have no trouble putting it where I want even top landing it now but didn’t think it was going to be so heavy in the roll out. My sting 2 xc 154 is way easier to turn . Unfortunately the effort of Moyes to even look at it has been poor ,even after Tony who is part of there team says it’s not right and it’s been known to them for 10 months now . I’ve asked Matt or noma to give me a call and some advice and have received nothing so far. I’ve flown 9 gliders in 10 months and had no probs with any including intermediate , just hate this gecko at the moment . Every landing in it has been great though , it’s just super heavy on the roll unless you pull in excessively. My combat topless wing handles way better ,is easy to roll , hopefully I and they wil sort it out. but yeh I only get to talk to Vicki and she isn’t a pilot ,I would love for Matt or noma or rob degroot to take some interest in it ,any way I’m not gunna fly it till someone takes the time to looks at it going off what Tony Armstrong says and he has 10000 hours. Might be in a sting at cunungra 😂🤣thanks for your advice col 👍🍻
I like how you synced "round and round" with the 360's. Nice.
Nice wing👌

Sometimes it feels like I'm really on my "farewell tour" with my hang-gliding- we will see?
Beautiful wing. And nice flying.
Thanks mate, I haven't owned a current model hg for a long time. It was irresistible..
Another amazing flight..seems it was a tandem with the magpie on board!
That Butcher bird is well known at Lennox, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks sis xx.

Lennox can look deceptively easy-take care..
Looks like the magpie loved the glider too
Thanks Tushar, this local bird is a Butcher bird-a smaller species of Magpie. Good luck with your flying..
