- Well friends....September has arrived, and the bow seasons for deer and elk are right around the corner in many states. In this video I will be discussing archery equipment, shooting, some necessary tools you may well need, and a few hunting stories to go along with the advice I give you. So sit back and relax, and enjoy preparing for the upcoming bow season.
Cumberland outdoorsman, I'm a fellow Tennessean whom actually resides overseas for employment since 2012 and I sincerely enjoy your informative videos. I hope the youth in your area take advantage of your wealth of woodsmanship and outdoor lore as they begin their individual journeys. I took up archery in 1984 learning from Outdoor life articles, friends and gentlemen like yourself. It's been a remarkable journey!
Thanks for your comment, and sharing your background. The art of archery, and bowhunting can become ingrained at an early age. Most people I know that are involved in it, love it, and it stays with them throughout their lives.
Highly informative, I like the guys that have to have the newest equipment, they sell a lot of great equipment on the used market which I really appreciate.
I love the old Mathews bows great video
Yes sir that flashlight is a must here in Ms because October is the prime crawling time for rattlers, copperheads & cottonmouths.
I would love to see a video of your mounts of deer and here the story behind them .
That's an idea I may have to explore. Thanks for your comment.
I love those older bows and they do shoot awesome. I miss my older bow I killed my first deer with. Now that I’m older I realized selling that bow to get a newer bow was probably not the best thing I could have done. Those old bows are built to last and they shoot awesome
When Mathews came out with their "Solocam" bows I knew they had a winner design. I guess that's one of the reasons I still own two of their original models. If you want to get a replacement for your vintage bow, I would suggest you give Ebay a look. There are always listings for archery equipment.
@@CumberlandOutdoorsman I have a old vintage browning. But it’s no Mathews. But I re did the d loop put a newer sight and rest on it, I got it shooting good, but I also have a 1000 dollar bear bow that I just got so I think that’s what I’ll be using to take a buck lol but I do want to get a deer with that old browning, maybe a doe, it’s kinda like a goal I have but I need to get more deer under my belt with the new bow before trying the vintage bow, it is a goal of mine though
Another good one! Enjoyed very much. I kinda was out of archery for awhile too but have started shooting a recurve and been having lots of fun with it. May have to try hunting with it.
I own a Martin recurve, but right now I think I'll stick with my compound bow because I'm still a bit wary of my previous shoulder injury. The let-off of my Mathews is 85%, and doesn't put too much strain on my shoulder. I hope you have great success with your bow, and if you go hunting, get a big one! Mostly though I hope you continue to have fun with your bow. Thanks for watching, and for the support.
Tom I can’t believe you dud a archery video and didn’t get me shooting one of my recurves. Nice video Tom
Well Doug, I know of one sure-fire way to fix that. I need to come see you anyway, and I always enjoyed shooting with you. No matter if it's with a bow or .22.
That Matthew’s still has some giddy up. Save that $1,000 for a new bow and buy another classic .22. Interestingly, your day pack contains just about everything mine does. Good prep video for beginners and an excellent refresher for seasoned veterans.
Yeah, that little Ultra-Max still zips those arrows along at a good clip, so I'm just gonna stay with what I have. Just wondering Wayne.....do you bowhunt as well? If so what kind of bow do you shoot? I always look forward to your comments, because there's always some sound advice, or point of view that I totally agree with.
I used to bow hunt a little, I’m 74 years old now and have become a bit adverse to tree stands and ladders. Quite simply, I don’t bounce as good as I used to. Lol. I still have my bow, it’s a Parker that my wife gave me for Christmas back in 2004. Before that I shot a Browning. I still have several recurve bows that I sling an arrow or two with now and then. I used to do a lot of muzzleloader hunting, but since joining a local dove club back in 2012, my muzzleloader hunting has been somewhat limited. Another thing we have in common is our choice of muzzleloading rifles, the T/C Omega. I have two of them, a .45 caliber and a .50 and have taken quite a few deer with them, in addition to two foxes and a bobcat. My youngest brother and I have hunted Spring gobblers together since back in the ‘80’s. I absolutely love my time spent in the woods and fields, there’s nothing like it.
Awesome deer
I had a older Mathews solo cam bow years ago. I regret selling it . I could shoot that bow better than my newer bow and I believe it was the quietist bow I have had.
