    This works!! Tried it on a sprayer right out of the box, but note that there are actually FOUR of these check valves not just two. You need to carefully remove the pump and do the other side of it as well (same technique). Also be very careful as you put together, I suggest seating the spring onto the curved / short end of the black plunger and then set the + part into the valve. Also be careful not to over-tighten the screws on the pump as you put it back together. I over-tightened one and started to crack the plastic.

      This is correct. I found out that the other side was not free as well and mine began working. Thanks.

      Wish I had read this comment before I put it back together and realized the pump still wasn't drawing liquid lol
      But yes, there is an identical set on the back side of the pump, did all 4 and she works again!

    Excellent video! You explain the problem and how to fix it in a great way. I followed the instructions and was able to fix my new tool that didn’t work for the first time. Thanks.

    Thank you! This was exactly the problem. You prescribed the exact tool to fix it, and you explained why it fixed it. Awesome video. Thanks so much!

    What a great video. Just received the tool and nothing is spraying out. Your solution fixed the problem.

    Thanks for the fix! I was having trouble with mine and the small compressor was just not making the normal sound. It would only sputter the water on prime setting - rather than a pencil size stream.
    I did what you did in the video. I also flipped that part over carefully in order to get to the other plastic gaskets on the opposite side. I did the same to them.
    When I turned it on it was still having some struggle but it was starting to work intermittently. So I dumped out the water and used HOT water instead. The thing sprang back to life almost instantaneously.
    Thanks again!

    Watched your video and it gave me the idea that since it’s just stuck check valves, I could force them open with air. So, grabbed a small syringe, squeezed the on trigger, and plunged 5cc’s of air into the inlet. Heard the valves open immediately and now it works :) best part is no disassembly required.
    Thanks for diagnosing !

    I went through 5 or 6 of these, only 2 or 3 worked out of the box, and only temporarily. I'm so glad it was an easy fix!

    It worked you will need a long t10 driver to get the 19 screws out some are DEEP in there .
    I ordered this sprayer from ebay that was DOA . These directions was perfect. One of the valves was stuck so I was not getting anything liquid out . Good to go . Thank you !!!!!

    Thank you so much for this video. I just received mine yesterday and it didn't work outside of the box, I didn't have to file but one of the valves was stuck and once it was free, it was properly priming and spraying. Thanks again!

    You are the best! Our 1 Gallon Sprayer has the same issue. I removed the cap, but I wasn't sure it was the prob. I am going to work on the pump later today.

    Direct tools is currently giving these away with qualifying tool purchases right now. (basically any Ryobi 18v power tool purchase) I apparently have two of them on the way so this video is helpful. I'll be playing with the parts to see if I can't make them into something more useful. I'm thinking I'll open up the spray tips a little and use it for applying India ink on projects for one of them and perhaps I'll use the other as a low pressure water pump or just gut it and use the motor in a hobby project of some kind. in any case it looks like it's got some useful bits inside so it will be fun to fiddle with.

    Thanks for your video......I took mine apart and the black rubber parts were very swollen. Actually, one is so swollen I am having difficulties getting the spring to hold to the black rubber piece on one of the two. The spring needs to grab to the rubber correct?

    • @Fiatx192040
      @Fiatx192040  Рік тому

      Yes the spring should seat firmly on the rubber pin. TonyK.

    How long before I have to do? I use for commercial cleaning when I can't use the kavac no touch system. Battery seem to last a long time!

    • @Fiatx192040

      When the sprayer stops working, you are kind of forced into this fix. Just remember there are 4 valves in the pump, 2 on each side. TonyK.

    I have about 20 of these and a few of the little white guides seem to be a different material which continually expands and sticks. The problematic guides are more tan than white in color. Most of the guns with the problematic white guides also have a tan/brown hoses on the inside as well. My question is, do you know of a place where I can order replacement internals for small pumps like this? At the end of the video you said that Ryobi might be coming up with some replacement parts. To your knowledge, have any become available?

    • @Fiatx192040
      @Fiatx192040  2 роки тому +2

      I have not seen replacement part available, however for a period of time Ryobi was sending out complete guns as a replacement. You were not required to send the old unit back. TonyK.

    This sprayer is grounded right? Their bigger spray has like an external wire for grounding but I can't find any info about grounding on this model.

    • @Fiatx192040
      @Fiatx192040  2 роки тому +1

      Some units use an external ground wire to attract the spray. This one does not work that way, the electrostatic charge is applied to the particles in the mist of the spray. Because a ground wire is not used the charged particles do not go in the direction of a grounded system. The particles will go in any direction they are attracted to.

    You have to be kidding right out of box you are required to take it a part and you void warranty and it cost over 75 dollars at HD. Tried call CS only to be told return to store poor quality control poor customer sevice. Ryobi cheap products

    This is not a "simple fix" I'm pretty livid that mine doesn't work right out of the box and sounds like others need to do this the day they bring it home?...I'd say don't buy this tool

    • @deftdawg
      @deftdawg 2 роки тому

      As fixes go, this one is pretty darn simple... You have to keep in mind that Ryobi went nuts trying to make these when much of the world through surface disinfection was the way to fight covid... Now they have so many surplus Direct Tools (in Canada at least) are giving them away for free. If it stops working and this looks too difficult, you could always exchange it to Home Depot for a new one. 😄
