Going out on an unplanned stroll in the neighborhood randomly looking for a place where to buy some snacks is the closest thing to being a kid again as an adult...
WanderingRurouni92 no no, you got that wrong. You could leave your bag with valuables in it on the street for a couple hours and come back to it still being there (and if not then it's been given to the closest police station)... the thought of being mugged on the open street wouldn't even come up in Japan (obviously there are exceptions, but you get the idea ;) )
Julian Serradilla *ahem* You can leave your stuff anywhere, and the only place it'll end up is the police station? JAPAN IS AMAZING! Enthusiasm that's sounds like sarcasm aside, it's really wonderful that those are the circumstances.
Amazing clean and safe. I so want to return to Japan watching this is making me so famished!! I am craving a snack my Mom would make my sister and I. Stuffed rice balls with a Japanese sour plums sooo good
I miss Japan everytime I see your videos. I've been there 3 times already, but I still get the urge to return every summer. They have so many things that aren't available over here, especially the snacks, the food and the vending machines, and everything is so convenient. People were really helpful too, always eager to help whenever they notice tourists being confused about something.
We are also like midnight snacks. It is absolutely necessary thing after winter night duty at the battlefront, with a cup of hot tea with lemon and honey.
Your face was priceless when you tasted that chemical laden maple margarine thingy....I would have spat it out. I love watching your videos and livestreams. You have been my sanity saver while recovering from a head on accident where I got 14 broken bones.
Great vid! Made me miss my late night missions through Tokyo in December last year, also Conbi's free wifi saved me couple times haha Keep up the solid content!
Awesome video. Here in Toronto we used to have a show called "Night Moves", which was a first person pov walk thru the town at night set to jazz music (you can find vids of it on yt). Thx for the memory recall, and stay safe!
Haha "shoe cream", that's cute!! :) Choux means cabbages in French, choux creams (also called cream puffs or profiteroles) are often filled with pastry cream/custard like the one you had... and boy did it look deeee-licious!!
Hi John. How's it going? I was in Japan for 2 weeks last month with wife. We followed your advice from this channel. We even went to see the highway go through a building called TKP in Osaka. It was awesome! 1 thing we realised in Japan, no matter where we go, Tokyo, Kyoto, Himeji, Osaka, Kobe & Nara, and no matter what time is it, everyday we will see and hear Sirens of Ambulance and Fire Trucks, and I hear Ambulance sirens in this video now. Why it is so often? Maybe you can make an episode about it :)....
Most 7-11s I've seen in one location - Sutthisan Junction in Bangkok. One at each corner of the intersection, maybe 100m from each other. If I recall correctly you could see the one on the north side from the one on the south side. Add to that one Tesco Lotus Express and another convenience store (I forget the name) AND a Big C maybe 200m to the south...
Japan is so peaceful at night; the one time I was able to go, I spent a good deal of time when I was in Tokyo wandering at night when I couldn't sleep. Never felt so safe alone at night anywhere before, and it was so nice. You don't expect a city that size to get that quiet. Toronto certainly isn't THAT quiet, even at 2-4am in the morning, and it NEVER feels that safe to wander there even during the day lol.
Hahaha, that maple/margarine bread. Part of me feels like it may have been a little better warmed up... though, not by much. Strange combo and I've eaten my fair of strange in Japan.
I used to do the same when I was in Yokohama, it is a pleasure being in an exotic place looking for something to eat and I usually found delicious food 🤤, I remember the rice cakes that were sold in Yokohama eki and some king of twinkees super cunae sold in the convenience stores in central Tokyo. By the way, I found a beer vending machine near the University of Tokyo.
Thats similar to Kue soes here in ID and ..when u get one ..with the perfect Choux ratio.. You cant just eat one! Glad to know I can get my fix if I'm in Tokyo!
John, what took you to Japan in the first place? I've spent 5 years there in my life, was just back in July. Of course it's got me by the heartstrings and now I want to go back.
ok. I'll go dig around for it. Japan is so amazing but so different! My trip back this summer after 30 years proved that you can get culture shock again. LOL
Hello Peter From the UK. You had the Midnight munchies attack. When it strikes you have to go out and subdue your cravings. Good luck in finding your snack munchies. Lol lol
Do you worry about salmonella from eating raw eggs? I never dreamed I’d ever want to go to the Far East but you’ve completely changed my mind! PS. Starbucks is now carrying an egg cooked in a different way, like 2 hours on low heat! Woe taste pretty good! Nice to see you John and meet you my whole family are enjoying these broadcast! Thank you! 👵🏻
It's 2am in UK London now and I'm starting to feel a little peckish now. I know exactly how you feel right now, I want to go to Central London to get some doughnuts and ice cream! 👍🏽 ✌🏽 ☺
Yes, I’m happy that I’m going home soon to Osaka because USA I got mugged twice and it’s always homeless people asking for money. Even in Japan homeless men will not ask for money but instead they will work for their own money. Plus Japan is so safe. That’s why I’d miss Japan quality of life
Keith-Alexander Bailey Not 100% safe since they got Yakuza worke(Thiefs that work for Yakuza). However from what i heard those areas seems to be around Shinjuku and similar areas with alot of action.
I was in Japan last month for two weeks and was planning to catch you while you are doing one of your live streams :P but you decided to visit onsens for a whole month :(
Love this episode and love Japan 7-11. Almost all my Japan vids are 711 food lol. Their melon pan is impressive and actually better than the fresh Japanese bakeries I’ve had in the US surprisingly.
The most pixelated Choux Cream I've ever seen... xD I learned about those in my previous trip to Japan, back some 10 years ago, and then I managed to find a place in Brazil that sells it... but it's not in my city. Really good though. I also found melon pan but it's nowhere near as good as the ones in Japan that you can find in any kombini. One of the reasons why I'm on a severe diet right now... I just know I'll eat 'till I explode on the next year's trip to Japan. It's innevitable. :P I'm also not as much of a picky eater as John is, so there's that.. xD I'd probably eat and enjoy that mapple bread without any problems... as well as most sodas John hated....
Brandon Jinjiyoshi Tilley They are really happy that you take your time to learn there language, since it show that you respect there culture. Also Japanse arent that much for english, so you help them alot.
much respect for those workers that still work at midnight
Man I love these episodes lol
Going out on an unplanned stroll in the neighborhood randomly looking for a place where to buy some snacks is the closest thing to being a kid again as an adult...
This Tokyo Midnight run was really fun! keep them coming!!
You can walk around at night without the fear of getting mugged? Japan is an amazing place.
WanderingRurouni92 no no, you got that wrong. Lolwut, where do You live ?
Julian Serradilla *ahem* You can leave your stuff anywhere, and the only place it'll end up is the police station? JAPAN IS AMAZING!
Enthusiasm that's sounds like sarcasm aside, it's really wonderful that those are the circumstances.
lol get out of your basement
WanderingRurouni92 It is, and yes, Japan is amazing! And not just because of the safety ;)
Amazing clean and safe. I so want to return to Japan watching this is making me so famished!! I am craving a snack my Mom would make my sister and I. Stuffed rice balls with a Japanese sour plums sooo good

Always excited to see a new vid from you!
Thank you for sharing. WOW Tokyo is a good place and safe too.
I so wish 711 in US was as good as they are in Japan. I always wish I could walk around my city at midnight and not worry!
Really... i'm happy when i leave my local 711 without being held up.
Ophelia Whitney
There are some problem with Yakuza workers, but they seems to be more around Shinjuku.
The US really isn't that bad..... there are good areas and bad areas...
Thank you John for bringing us your fans to your midnight snack video, your so sweet! :)
Happy editing I hope the snacks will help u power thru it☕️😬🤤 need more midnight snack streams love Japanese convenient stores have a good week John!
Great vid! Made me miss my late night missions through Tokyo in December last year, also Conbi's free wifi saved me couple times haha Keep up the solid content!
Midnight snack adventure.. I dig it 👌👌 love the videos mate 👍
I’m happy to have found your channel!
Awesome video. Here in Toronto we used to have a show called "Night Moves", which was a first person pov walk thru the town at night set to jazz music (you can find vids of it on yt). Thx for the memory recall, and stay safe!
Convenience stores are really good especially if you crave in the middle of the night.
Haha "shoe cream", that's cute!! :) Choux means cabbages in French, choux creams (also called cream puffs or profiteroles) are often filled with pastry cream/custard like the one you had... and boy did it look deeee-licious!!
Yes to more midnight snack runs. Enjoy seeing the Tokyo streets so late at night or early in the morning depending which way you look at it ;-)
When i found this channel it's sweet enough for me

alxdacrow
Because It's free!
I used to live in the US. I heard it cost like $200? or more?
Even its free. But why is it so often? Are there allot of sick people?
No, people just call ambulance for little things...I heard this on tv.
Hi, you are so entertaining ! I really enjoy your work ! All the best Shaun of New York
i like this video so much
where you go out at night wondering around
look for something refresh
at day
to many people
nice vid 👍
Nice video! Wow, I was starting to get worried. You're back!
You got some serious discipline man! If that was me, I would of grabbed something from every place 😁
Most 7-11s I've seen in one location - Sutthisan Junction in Bangkok. One at each corner of the intersection, maybe 100m from each other. I am enjoying this midnight run...great video
The best thing he got all night and the camera isn't focused or it's pixelated.
Missed this live but know what it's like when those cravings come calling. Enjoy whatever you bought and look forward to the next video :-)

I love watching your videos :)
Do they sell smokes too?
Margarine, worse than smoking. Matsuya is awesome, I wish we have it here in Australia!
Great video but as I live in London I can never catch you live so watch them after work , superb stuff
This seems like a safe version of NYC.
Haha! Could be!! Will do this again more central next time.
How about a night life video? How the night life is like in tokyo or japan.
One thing you'd be so reluctant to do in most country is to walk outside past midnight. Only in Japan indeed.
Hahaha, that maple/margarine bread. Part of me feels like it may have been a little better warmed up... though, not by much. Strange combo and I've eaten my fair of strange in Japan.
You know my love of Beard Papa pastries!
Haha you're funny walking around at night eating sweets 🤣
Thats similar to Kue soes here in ID and ..when u get one ..with the perfect Choux ratio.. You cant just eat one! Glad to know I can get my fix if I'm in Tokyo!
Prowling through the night for unsuspecting candy.
I hope he used protection. Mouth wash, toothe paste and brush.
Yes.. I would like all that ice cream please :-)
Man after few I found u the best blogger
Maple margarine bread? I'm Canadian and even I would have to be convinced to buy that.
LOL
Yeah his friend told him about it and he went there I think as an English teacher at first and decided to stay.....I think he said that in a Q&A once
Terri Swift uh oh, sounds like you downgraded by moving to the USA
Here in Maine, I either hunt or raise the meat I eat. I makes you appreciate it all the more.
Hello Peter
From the UK. You had the Midnight munchies attack. When it strikes you have to go out and subdue your cravings. Good luck in finding your snack munchies. Lol lol
To that 7-11 you were going Like you will go to rob IT.. lol
I know you are a responsible parent now, but can you please bring back the midnight snack run! 😊
Thank you! 👵🏻

So when you say you can take out money from any bank. What does this include? JP Morgan, Wells Fargo?
This guy look so scared when he going to try his sweets lol
It's 2am in UK London now and I'm starting to feel a little peckish now. I know exactly how you feel right now, I want to go to Central London to get some doughnuts and ice cream! 👍🏽 ✌🏽 ☺
What is this? Cruising, Johnny? 😆🤔🙄😜
I didn't know the Vending Machines Light Up! Imagine using it in the dark!
I love the prices on food in Japan. In my country the cheapest food at a resturang cost 8$ and that is an plan pizza. The reason is due of our taxes.
I would love to meet you.......someday. I aim to come to Japan by 2020.....Will surely meet you. Your videos are very good.....
Hisashiburi John ! Glad you're ok. Thanks for sharing. :)
Like "Itadakimasu" "Kanpai" has pretty same meaning. It's giving thanks to the gods for the rice that was given to make the sake.
Yes, I’m happy that I’m going home soon to Osaka because USA I got mugged twice and it’s always homeless people asking for money. Even in Japan homeless men will not ask for money but instead they will work for their own money. Plus Japan is so safe. That’s why I’d miss Japan quality of life
sumone asking for money isnt getting mugged cuz
You lie
and Japanese don't even like the blacks.
That's a broad statement. Justin Nampui.
Keith-Alexander Bailey
Not 100% safe since they got Yakuza worke(Thiefs that work for Yakuza). However from what i heard those areas seems to be around Shinjuku and similar areas with alot of action.
Great video I get hungry late nights also too bad Chicago’s food is not as good as japan:(
I'm sure if you warm the maple bread it would taste like a walffle.
When she says NO after too many drinks with her...
"whats wrong with people" hahahaha
Makes me hungry right now food
Honey, go home, make yourself some pancakes with lots of maple syrup perfect late night snack
Congrats on the 40k subbs very soon too John!!!
Wow!A midnight snack.

I was in Japan last month for two weeks and was planning to catch you while you are doing one of your live streams :P but you decided to visit onsens for a whole month :(
I miss Japan already, only left 2 days ago.

My Dad used to say “My mouth tastes the Russian army was marching through it” (Yuk!)
I wagakki band in the background of the Lawson's
can someone please tell me who this legendary " Toby" Is?
Brandon Jinjiyoshi Tilley I see him drop by, but have no idea since I’m not a Patreon.
Love this episode and love Japan 7-11. Almost all my Japan vids are 711 food lol. Their melon pan is impressive and actually better than the fresh Japanese bakeries I’ve had in the US surprisingly.
My favorite 7-11 dessert in Japan is the pancake with margarine and syrup. But don't eat both in one sitting.
The most pixelated Choux Cream I've ever seen... xD
I learned about those in my previous trip to Japan, back some 10 years ago, and then I managed to find a place in Brazil that sells it... but it's not in my city. Really good though.

Yeah, wonder what happened to make the signal so bad at that spot!? I lost signal because the Wi-Fi auto connects. I have to remember to turn it off.
Best episode! Please do UENO
What would the Japanese say about your ability to speak Japanese? Is it good? Bad? What are their opinions of how you speak the language?
Brandon Jinjiyoshi Tilley
They are really happy that you take your time to learn there language, since it show that you respect there culture.
Also Japanse arent that much for english, so you help them alot.
Hello John... Seni ve Tokyo'yu görmek çok güzel.😊

Don't forget to get the Shoe Cream on a stick!
7-11 just declared bankruptcy in my country couple months ago, I cant buy their good stuff anymore :(
Hope you do more late night vids in the future
Karage, is that stuff that Soma was making?
