I want one so bad but!!!!! I do not really need it which is why I have no 70-200mm lenses since going from Canon where I had the L f2.8 version to Sony where my max reach is like 135 with AF lenses.
yea see i like this guy.....Unlike other reviewers he understands we dont wanna look at you holding the lens for half the video lol he actually shows us dozens of examples of what the lens can do! He got my Sub for that!
You make every lens you test look awesome.. This one is no exception. Fantastic lens and I’d take the money savings over the GMii and buy another awesome prime lens or wide angle zoom.
I have a handful of I series and Art lenses from Sigma for my Panasonic S5 and S5 MKII and they all work great, I was looking and waiting for this lens to come out will pick it up in the spring of next year..
It's hard to find the right balance in the reviews like this. I also had very limited time to shoot samples with it as the weather was very bad here in the last few days. Standard Sigma here. Focus by wire, smooth focusing, no hard stops. Almost zero focus breathing. Very good AF in video - no problems.
Thanks for this video. This Sigma will be mine for Christmas 👍 (With the Sigma 14-24 2.8 Art for the price of the GMII... or the price of the 12-24 2.8 GM...)
Thanks. Good video as always. I'll stick with the Tamron 35-150 on this occasion. I'm curious why you never placed your 'info' on each shot as you normally do please? Such as F? and ISO, Shutter Speed? I'm always curious to learn how others shoot. Thanks again. Lee
Thank you. I very rarely put that info in my videos. Occasionally with zoom lenses to show mainly what zoom position I've used. I show a lot of samples and this takes very long time to add on. I had very limited time to edit this video to go out today and it was just not possible.
I totally get and an assumed that. The 'normal' person doesn't realise how much time goes into an edit and the details themselves take so long....great stuff.@@PavSZ
@@PavSZ Hahaha Yes! Sigma and you made it hard for me. We are leaving to India for a few months (backpacking) and I love long focal lengths. I am planning to sell my 100-400 and stick with my 28-70 & 18mm and wil save space and weight. But omg what I beautifull images is the 70-200 producing.
Is the front zoom ring not annoying? There is alot of critics about this fact of swapped rings compared to the Sony. On my Tamron 28-75 mm also the zoom ring is at the front and it does not bother me. Not sure if it will in this case with the Sigma. The lens is much longer.
Really great value and impressive performance. Can you test the video stabilization vs the S Pro 70-200? I've seen other sigmas like the 60-600 not perform very well for handheld video stabilization.
Looks like a good lens. Good choice for L-mount, but for Sony probably Tamron 70-180 2.8 G2 is a better option. Not as heavy, is cheaper, and also has great IQ. If you accept 180, of course.
Yea this lens is in a weird place honestly. It's like 99% GM in terms of build/buttons/optics but gets artificially limited thanks to Sony insisting only GM glass gets TC/full FPS on a9/a1 etc. It's almost too good for what it is.
I own the RF 70-200 f2.8 and love it, but I just drool over all of these DG DN offerings that make me regret buying my R6ii a year ago. So tempting to sell it all and switch to Sony.
I saw a comparison with the Tamron 70-180 G2. And I like Tamron better in terms of bokeh and depth of the picture, it gives depth and plasticity to the photos. The bokeh of Sigma is too crystalline like taken with an iPhone.
It's not something that I am planning on doing. Lumix is great but it is old now. Sigma is a way better and more sophisticated lens overall in my opinion
they are both good to buy. Two completely different lenses. I can't advise you, or anyone which lens to buy. I don't know you, I don't know your experience. I don't know what you need the lens for. I don't know your budget etc. Only you can make that decision based on reviews and specs avilable online
They have learnt long time ago. It was only the first batch. They have fixed that problem since. I haven't had this lens long enough to be sure there is no issues but so far so good. Pretty much a perfect lens
I don't doubt for a second that Lumix is an awesome lens but how does it beat it in all aspects? Apart from being more expensive it is also bigger, heavier, it has got no manual aperture ring, customisable stabilisation and focus limiter and the filter thread is 82mm
What do you think about this NEW Sigma 70-200mm?

Good video.
Good editing
Good lighting
Good talking points
Yes of course any product has problems but you speak to the pros of the lens. I like it.
Thank you!

Thank you.
I'd go for this instead of GMII and buy another lens with it
Your sample images are always lovely Pav.. thanks!
Many thanks!
Thanks! Looks like a fantastic lens at a nice price and a great companion for my Sigma 28-70 2.8 for my S5II.
Yes! it is a solid performer and great fit for S5II

Can't go wrong with Sigma these days.
I'm gonna be investing in this one soon
Good review. Would love to see much more video examples and hear about manual focusing while filming.

Great review! Unfortunately i have not enough space in my camerabag to carry this with me during travels.
there is always space in the camera bag for great lenses. You need to up your tetris skills 😉
@@PavSZ Hahaha Yes! Sigma and you made it hard for me.

Nice vid. I liked it when you said, the size of the lens is not unusual for a lens of this size 😅
I had to check - I said: "It is a big lens but this size and weight are NOT unusual for a lens of this type"
I prefer the bokeh and the Leica touch of my 70-200mm S Pro, but it looks like a great lens.
it always comes down to personal preference. Both great lenses

it's not annoying, you get used to it in 5 min.
It also, as with all Sigmas, rotates the opposite direction than Sony zooms do
Really great value and impressive performance. Can you test the video stabilization vs the S Pro 70-200? I've seen other sigmas like the 60-600 not perform very well for handheld video stabilization.

This is something that I might make a video about in new year
nice review, hugs from México
Oh thank you!

Nothing wrong with R6II
Your sample photo looks so great! Curious about which camera did you use to take those photos. Sony A7 III? I am considering Sony.
Thanks!
I've tested this lens on Lumix S5II/S5IIx cameras
Not the TC-1401/TC2001 but TC-1411/2011 teleconverters compatibility
oh ok. My mistake. Thanks for letting me know
I saw a comparison with the Tamron 70-180 G2. And I like Tamron better in terms of bokeh and depth of the picture, it gives depth and plasticity to the photos. The bokeh of Sigma is too crystalline like taken with an iPhone.
I can't say that I have noticed the difference between bokeh of those two lenses.
Very similar to me. I have just reviewed the Tamron this week
@@PavSZ Ok, thanks for letting me know, I will watch your Tamron review
Would you recommend this or the Sony 70-200 f2.8 gm i? I mainly want to shoot sports.
I'd personally go for this because it is newer and it is black but both of these lenses are amazing
Can we get a video of sigma 70-200 vs lumix pro 70-200 ?
It's not something that I am planning on doing. Lumix is great but it is old now. Sigma is a way better and more sophisticated lens overall in my opinion
Can you give me a suggestion
Sigma 135mm 1.8 or sigma 70 200mm 2.8
Which one is good to buy

Quite the charmer
me or the lens 😂
Jesus i cant wait to put it in my S5ii
me neither
My first 70-200...i pre order
yes! me too
And me😀@@PavSZ
$2100 in Canada. It better be awesome with no flaws or recalls. Hopefully they learned from the Dust sucking 24-70 DG DN
They have learnt long time ago. It was only the first batch. They have fixed that problem since.
I haven't had this lens long enough to be sure there is no issues but so far so good. Pretty much a perfect lens
24-70 is perfectly fine now
agreed. Sigma actually fixed the problem which is very respectable! @@m-stat9
I will buy it when it comes to India post launch, maybe in December 2023 or Jan 2024.
Long term viewer from 🇮🇳! ♥️♥️🫡🫡
yes!
I think, LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F2.8 is still a strong contender to beat in all aspects even though it costs higher.
I don't doubt for a second that Lumix is an awesome lens but how does it beat it in all aspects?
Apart from being more expensive it is also bigger, heavier, it has got no manual aperture ring, customisable stabilisation and focus limiter and the filter thread is 82mm
lumix is worse and overpriced
I’m a Sigma fanboy but I’ll take the Tamron here.
Apart from slightly lower price and weight, why?
180 vs 200 is not a big difference (Dustin Abbot’s video) but the weight is… i need to buy one telephoto and I’ve doubts…
@@PavSZ size and weight win for me. If it doesn’t fit in the bag, it stays home.
