    I've been taking a couple of gap years after finishing my MS, and I'm going back for my PhD in January. Your stuff has been a nice way to keep refreshing my book knowledge.

      Everything have its limited then if every people understood this then there is no controversy, simple and clear.
      If you see something by the light based on the photon emitted then there are limited your eyes based on the frequencies. If the photons have no its frequency or only have its vibration like Tesla said then you cant see the object or not fully sharp with it called invisible likely radar undeted.
      the Bond Force or many kind of bond or how many different matter interact then you can detect or cant not detect its bond.
      P/s: The infrared light is the light human eyes can not see then we see missing that light or not ? Same as is other bond so O-H bond based geometry or its sharpe? So you can make hidden radar material or hidden bond material like dark matter. Thor way is opened for your travelling.

    THANKS A LOT. We are studying Coordination and Complex compounds at school. I watched your VBT, MOT, and complex compounds videos for further explanations to the stuff. But, I was missing the Back bonding. And here you are, with the stuff! Really appreciate your work. :)

    Transition metals are just fantastic. Even in deep space we can see some of these in massive star forming regions after a supernova (making it a second or third generation star). They sometimes end up in more distant planets and can break down in their formation but in doing such can form many other important compounds.

    Dear Prof. David, at 08:53, I think the orbital of nitrogen should be sp hybridized orbital instead of a p orbital and sp hybridized orbital should make the donation to the metal in the first place. Is this true? or am I missing something?

    well, 10:32 certainly explains why carbon monoxide is so dangerous; it makes sense why uncharged diatomic oxygen would be so strongly outcompeted, affinity-wise.

    In 10:30, why carbon has a partial negative charge if oxygen is more electronegative?

    Professor Dave if you are willing would you do an episode on organic molecules in cosmology and how these can form in a post supernova gas cloud? I am selfishly asking as modeling star forming regions was my dissertation.

    Is it correct to call the R-S- ion a sulfoxide? at 6 min 42 sec. Wouldn't that be an alkyl sulfide? And a sulfoxide would require an oxygen in there?

    Cool explaination, but only one MINOR(!) mistake: some of your dz2 orbitals look star-ish like dxz but should look more like dumbell in a knot or a teslacoil or how ever to describe.

    @ProfessorDave I had a hypothesis that the earth is faster orbiting the sun when it is closest to the sun and slower speed when the earth is farthest away from the sun. I dont have the knowledge or tools to test this hypothesis so I was wondering if im correct in my understanding of gravity and ellypitical orbits. I hope to use this simple hypothesis to covince my flat earther cousin of using some actual critical thinking to figure things out.

    • @sjholmesbrown
      @sjholmesbrown 2 роки тому

      Your idea is correct, the Earth (and any other orbiting object) does move faster during the closer part of its orbit. Look up Kepler's theorem often described as 'equal areas over equal times' which describes the relationship.
