😢😢😢😢. Humans drive me crazy, but I swear when I see something like this, it warms my heart and reassures me of how kind people are. Thanks to all who have assisted with the rescue/adoption of these animals during these horrific times.
May God bless and protect all the men and women who risk their lives and take the time to save the little animals that depend only on them for their lives. I hope that this love and responsibility towards animals will multiply throughout the world; this moment is a great example of this.
There should be a website were everyone taking in LAdogs should post up a individual pictures of every animal and location of shelter and phone number and then people can make personal arragements and requests . Maybe wanna rehome to a relative to get them or pay to fly them back .
The LA shelter is already posting pics of strays that come into the shelter. The pets that were moved to this shelter were already in the LA shelters prior to the fires. They were not claimed by their owners and went up for adoption. They are being moved to make room for animals displaced by the fires.
Sad about hotels doing this. In other disasters I ve read about,, hotels stepped up. Waived the pet rules lowered prices n more. Shame on any hotels doing this.
@bayareagrl4ever526 Easy now. Many doing that too. Let's not Lecture any of these folks making Extremely difficult decisions. None of us know their individual circumstances.
I for one would love to take in some of those pets who are displaced from their family, to give them some comfort and also their humans. Unfortunately I have a bad tempered old mutt of a dog that does not like other dogs, he' a terrier and has no fear of large dogs or any other dog. Hopefully my local animal shelter will take in some and I will gladly support them.
Gos bless these people and organizations that are helping these poor animals. Evacuees dropping off pets at the Humane Society is OK, it's basically the same as the safe haven laws that allow people to drop off babies at fire stations and hospitals and not face criminal charges. But anyone who abandons a pet, leaves them at the home when they evacuate, drop the off on the side of the road, etc. should all face criminal charges. They post information on places you can take your pet as well as evacuation shelters that accept pets.
It’s sad that animals are being displaced due to fires, but why aren’t there more efforts to help prevent the wildfires in the first place instead of just picking up the pieces afterward?
Overall, they’re better than many other countries. Do some research. What happens in others countries to animals w/o homes is pretty horrific.🤮 Don’t come down on the shelters. Blame ppl who never spay, neuter, & dump their pets daily.
@@sonneversets3530 I have my social media full of pets that are waiting for euthanasia in the U.S. I don't know what the solution of the problem is , but killing innocent healthy puppies is not a good solution. If by other countries you mean, Turkey for example then you're definitely right, the U.S is way much better in that aspect. But I don't think killing them is the solution, when dogs can do other stuff when trained. Like helping the elderly, lonely people, fix traumas, to find bombs and so on. More over, If I lose my pet in a fire I don't want him to end in a euthanasia place for sure!
They didn't make it clear that what they are doing is taking in pets from the fires and moving out animals which were already in the shelter (with no owners) on flights to other areas where they are being put up for adoption. No fire affected pets are being rehomed. Hope that puts your mind at ease.
If people took their animals with them we wouldn't have to rescue them. If you left them behind, you do not love them and they are better off with new families who can love them. Why transport all the way up to Seattle, was there nothing in Oregon to help? Some must have microchips in them? In addition, we MUST BAN all kill shelters, build more so they don't have to be murdered for lack of space. The dogs would do better on the streets vs on the kill list.
It’s a daily thing in most shelters, regardless of any emergency. Shelters are limited & can only handle so many. That’s why fostering is so important, if you can’t adopt. You’re saving 2 lives. Your foster & giving a chance to a dog or cat that takes its place in the shelter.♥ Many places don’t discriminate when euthanizing. Especially in the mid west & south. That too many still use GAS chambers!!! Horrifically slow way to die!😭💔 From pups to seniors ‘go’. Although most will do seniors first, & others who seem a bad candidate for adoption...Like too much anxiety, afraid, fear aggression, or not responsive much at all/shut down. Ppl pass those dogs over. So they go down first. 😭💔 Those dogs actually just need more love & patience to adjust. They don’t know what’s happened to them & are very frightened. I only rescue senior dogs the past several yrs. They are the best! 👍Very trainable, loyal & loving. Ppl have no idea what a gem they can be passing by. Most already know the basics, are housebroken, used to cars & leash walking. Many are already spayed/neutered, too. But, if not, the person rescuing them, just needs to want them enough to do it for them. They would have to do the same for a puppy, with much more expense & time. Seniors learn quite quickly, & are very eager to please. I’ve gotten several from 6+, worked w/them, & found them great, forever homes!👍♥ My last I got, when her owners left her when they moved.😳Its unfortunately, not all that uncommon. She was almost 11 & a handful, from being left alone. She had high anxiety, but after a couple mos, she really blossomed & was a very smart, obedient, _wonderful_ dog. A purebred Cockapoo, that I taught hand signals to, at 12. She calmed over time, but never fully conquered her anxiety when alone. So she rarely ever was, & it was short time frames. I couldn’t blame her for that....Miss you Stel.♥🐾 If you don’t have a pet, please consider fostering, if you can’t adopt. You may even become a ‘foster fail’. 😁👍 If not, you can volunteer to walk very needy dogs at your local shelter. They crave any time out of that cage & w/someone that gives them any affection & attention. Most shelters have volunteers. Spending time with & walking them, also helps them get adopted sooner, as they acquire more manners b/c of you, & are less anxious, when meeting possible new owners. It’s a wonderfully rewarding thing to do for any dog. Kitties need attention too. So ppl can spend time in an open cat room, giving some much wanted love.♥🐾👍

You just don’t pile in strange dogs in a kennel together, especially new arrivals, already very stressed. hello.
Shelters always do this during disasters. The animals get moved around the country to make room. This isn't news.

There needs to be a separate site where these animals are posted immediately for the owners to respond.
