You do know that at pretty much any American restaurant you can tell them you don't want tomatoes on your burger or chicken sandwich and they will be happy to not put them on? I figure this might be very useful to you considering you hate tomatoes so much. (Something I can't imagine but to each his own . Lol)
We plan on working our way through all of the culinary delights that the US has to offer, but we thought we would start with fast food and build up from there! We have Texas BBQ on our list and also Southern food, but if you have any other must try cuisine let us know! Thanks for watching!
You can’t escape American fast food. It is a part of our culture, oddly. But it is getting better (higher quality) BBQ and southern food are great. The northeast has some great food as well. I hope you enjoy your stay in the states. Take care.
@@thebritstry If you're comfortable letting us know what region/city you're in, I bet you'd get some very excellent, specific recommendations that are not just fast food. Since moving to Atlanta I almost never eat fast food anymore with the exception of Panda Express or Wendys once in a blue moon. There are so many great options. I've had Korean, Thai, Senegalese, Mexican, Jamaican, Italian, American BBQ, Soul Food, Japanese Raman, Pho, Cuban, Indian and Spanish all from local restaurants in the last two years.

You’ve probably heard this before but Americans are specific on what is considered a burger (usually some sort of ground meat). When you say chicken burger, I am thinking ground chicken patty. I would call what you ordered chicken sandwich.

Fast Food Burgers in the US worth trying: Braum's Back Yard Burgers Carl's Jr./Hardee's (these are the same thing with different names) Culver's Fatburger Five Guys In-N-Out Mooyah Shake Shack Smashburger Sonic Whataburger Any fast food burgers not on this list are probably not worth your time or money. Also note: When ordering a fast food burger in America, whenever possible, order a double cheeseburger. These usually have the best beef-cheese-bread ratios for a fast food burger and are most likely to give you your money's worth. Whataburger (not to be confused with What-A-Burger) is primarily in the southern U.S. with locations spanning from Arizona to Georgia & Florida. If you check them out, I highly recommend trying their Patty Melt, as well as whatever limited time burger they are offering. Culver's is known for having butter burgers. They pride their brand on having Wisconsin dairy roots, so expect these to be really good. Sonic has a decent cheeseburger, and their jumbo popcorn chicken is really good, even without sauce. I definitely recommend getting one of their limeades for a drink.
I've only been there once and tried their double Shack Burger. The patties are thin so you might need to add an extra one. The shake I had was not thick enough and I don't like their leafy, floppy, non-crunchy lettuce. Overall the burger lacked texture. I want to try their Shack Stack next.

Can you please tell us where you live in the states. So we can recommend some good restaurants. I think you said California but not sure. I'm in Florida on the east coast and we tend to have different popular restaurants then the West. If you do live in California do you live in the northern part of California or the southern part of California. Would love to see you try authentic Jamaican food, authentic Indian food, authentic Soul food. Individuals get southern food and soul food confused. They are not same; they are totally different. 😉 I totally enjoy your channel I am a NEW subscriber 🤩
Thanks for your comment! We actually live in the southern part of California, so any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your food taste suggestions and ideas. In California everything is higher priced than anywhere else and to boot the state of California penalize you when you move out of state!.. you picked the wrong state to live in (just my opinion)…I’m accustomed to approximately 12-14 dollars for the same order when purchasing elsewhere
@@thebritstry ummm, how about Key West Florida!?..great seafood, Key Lime Pie, and the views are magnificent I grew up on Big Pine key about 30 miles from key west and I miss it and the food and especially the beautiful waters
Shake shack and five guys and places like it are basically just incredibly overpriced slightly better fast food. I tend to stick to real actual local restaurants which give you far more, for far less, and fresher.
@thebritstry Well I am from Connecticut which has what is considered the best pizza in the country if not the world in new haven, sallys apizza, modern, frank pepes, and more. But for BBQ we have bears bbq in hartford which is legendary, and for burgers we have numerous spots. New England is known for local spots > chains. Ted's steamed cheeseburgers, wood n tap bison Chipotle burger, shady Glen in Manchester. We have Riley's Hot Dog & Burger Gourmet which make amazing dogs and burgers, goldburgers im Newington, harrys place in colchester, maggie mcflys does amazing everything (big menu) including a unique chicken and waffles with maple bacon gravy, not just syrup and amazing mac and cheese.
We totally understand where you're coming from! certain foods just don't hit the mark for us. Thanks for sharing your experience! Where would you recommend we try?
Over-priced, under-sized, nothing really stand out in terms of quality or uniqueness. Always ask for them to remove whatever you don't want. You should see what I do to the poor server at Starbucks! They know me so well now, I don't even have to ask anymore. Lol
i personally wasn't impressed with shake shack, reminded me of five guys. too expensive, and call me mature or old? but i didn't like their menu at all... food was fine, but wasn't impressive and not somewhere i'd go again by choice. but if its the only place in a 30 mile radius and i gotta eat. sure... something about peanut butter options on burgers really threw me for a... I didn't want to be in that environment anymore.... avocado should be seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, cilantro and a tad bit of lime and mashed with a fork. plenty of flavor in that. avocado its self is not super flavorful but very good for you.... nothing wrong with asking what they recommend and then not getting it, i do that all the time. u hope they have something your willing to try but when they say, we have crap on a spoon. of course u order something else.
Avocado is like taking a BITE of BUTTER ; it doesn't make sense 😩😩😆. Avocado DOESN'T has NO FLAVOR ! It's just like eating BUTTER ..😖😖😖 I DON'T like CILANTRO it tastes like a bar of SOAP 😩😩😖😖😖

Banana Milkshake! I didn't realize that was available... We will have to try that next time! Thanks for the tip😉
Come to Philadelphia and try our Nifty Fifty diners. You'll never leave.
We would love to visit Philadelphia and hopefully we will get there soon! We will ask you for more recommendations we we are ready to visit!
Try Five Guys. Burgers are really good and the cajun fries are to die fries.
damn keep it up good channel
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching!
Food prices weren't so high a few years back. Ya got here late.😉
Yeah, it does feel like everything is getting more expensive these days.
You need try In N Out burger in California
We have tried InNout in San Diego, here is a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/61DIWZ5_Q1I/v-deo.html Let us know if there is anywhere else we should try? Thanks for watching
Try 5 guys when you get a chance the chips are great.
I appreciate the suggestion! I'll make sure to check out 5 guys and their chips soon.
🧡 The straw said you gonna learn today! 😂😂
😂Thanks for watching
Shake Shack is very good
Yes it was!
Can you try Domino's pizza next? 😊thin crust?
We have added it to the list, thanks for the recommendation!🤗
I like avocado but I can understand somebody not liking it because in reality it really is nothing special. The only reason why I eat one once in awhile is because they're supposed to be super healthy❤
Thanks for sharing, Avocado is a hit or miss for Andrew but at least you're getting those healthy fats in!
That’s a small burger because it’s a smash burger!
That makes sense but it was still nice!
It’s not a chicken burger, it’s a sandwich. To make a chicken burger you have to grind the meat and form it into a patty before cooking.
Thanks for sharing! It's a chicken sandwich from now on!
nobody orders the shackburger, the absolute best thing there. its the sauce
We definitely want to go back and try some other items, Which sauce is the best?
not sure Andrew but I'm detecting Nicola is a bit hangry? lol
Lol! Thanks for watching
Please try soul food
Absolutely! it is definitely on the list.. What are the best dishes to try?
We have Shake shack here in Indiana I wasn't a big fan.
Completely agree. Avocado is so bland. The whipped cream is a way to screw you out of some ice cream
😀Thanks for sharing
Can you please tell us where you live in the states. So we can recommend some good restaurants. I think you said California but not sure. I'm in Florida on the east coast and we tend to have different popular restaurants then the West. If you do live in California do you live in the northern part of California or the southern part of California. Would love to see you try authentic Jamaican food, authentic Indian food, authentic Soul food. Individuals get southern food and soul food confused. They are not same; they are totally different. 😉
I totally enjoy your channel
I am a NEW subscriber 🤩
Thanks for your comment! We actually live in the southern part of California, so any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your food taste suggestions and ideas. I was brought up on Jamaican food so trying this would a take me back to my childhood. We will try and figure some of these ideas into videos. Thank you for subscribing and watching!!
Chicken SANDWICH not burger. 😂😂😂
Thanks for the info. We have just learned the difference!
Whataburger
Definitely on the list of places to try but what do we order?
@@thebritstry.well....a...Whataburger. sorry, 😂 I had to...that and Onion rings, naturally....and...after 11pm - 11am get the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit!!....and the Patty Melt! It's not life changing food, but it's just usually a damn good burger and whatever else.....seriously. Then come to Texas for BBQ, it will change your life, if you like BEEF!
Next trip to Waffle House you must have the hash browns
The burners, the way you order it here is the special names and what they represent
SMOTHERED..Sautéed Onions
COVERED....Melted Cheese
CHUNKED...Grilled Hickory Smoked Ham
DICED...Grilled Tomatoes
PEPPERED -Spicy Jalapeño Peppers
CAPPED...Grilled Button Mushrooms
TOPPED...Bert's Chili T™
COUNTRY. Sausage Gravy
I like mine smothered, covered, and topped.
And their pork chops and egg breakfast is delicious and for the grits, no sugar, no sugar
Grit should have salt and a lot of pepper and butter. If you like fried eggs, you can even cut up a fried egg and grits too. That is very good. Sausage and grits is very good too.
Whataburger should be your next stop
Thanks for the suggestion, we have just been to waffle house and you are so right about the Hashbrowns!!!!!
There are lots of places for burgers in the U.S. that are better than Shake Shack. Some are chains and some are not.
Which is your go-to place ?
Love avocado however their burgers are full of salt. Also the chicken isn't a burger its a sandwich. A chicken burger is made out of ground meat.
I don't like avocado, either...in fact, I DESPISE it!
Avocado, Love it or hate it, it's definitely a divisive food. Thanks for sharing
In California everything is higher priced than anywhere else and to boot the state of California penalize you when you move out of state!.. you picked the wrong state to live in (just my opinion)…I’m accustomed to approximately 12-14 dollars for the same order when purchasing elsewhere
We are hoping to travel to different states! Would you have any suggestions on where we should visit to get good value tasty food?
@@thebritstry ummm, how about Key West Florida!?..great seafood, Key Lime Pie, and the views are magnificent I grew up on Big Pine key about 30 miles from key west and I miss it and the food and especially the beautiful waters
Shake shack and five guys and places like it are basically just incredibly overpriced slightly better fast food. I tend to stick to real actual local restaurants which give you far more, for far less, and fresher.
Yes we found it pricey! We are going to be trying some local no chain restaurants in the future. Is there any places you would recommend?
Bacon is raw.
You're in America. It's "chicken sandwich".
We have just found that out! Thanks for the advice
My husband and I call Shake Shack Salt Shack. Their food is ungodly salty. Hate it.
We totally understand where you're coming from! certain foods just don't hit the mark for us. Thanks for sharing your experience! Where would you recommend we try?
You guys pay way too much for food in California.
Yes, the price of food in California can be a bit of a shocker. Thanks for watching
One time and never again Shake Shack for me. All room temp. Rubber hot dog. Goofy employees.
YOUR THERE TO TRY FOOD, EAT THE TOMATOES
Thanks for the reminder! I'll make sure to give those tomatoes a fair shot next time.
Too expensive for the amount of food you received
It was expensive.
overpriced...
Thank you for watching.
Over-priced, under-sized, nothing really stand out in terms of quality or uniqueness. Always ask for them to remove whatever you don't want. You should see what I do to the poor server at Starbucks! They know me so well now, I don't even have to ask anymore. Lol
Lol!! Thanks for the advice... At least you've found a way to customize your drinks to perfection!
i personally wasn't impressed with shake shack, reminded me of five guys. too expensive, and call me mature or old? but i didn't like their menu at all... food was fine, but wasn't impressive and not somewhere i'd go again by choice. but if its the only place in a 30 mile radius and i gotta eat. sure... something about peanut butter options on burgers really threw me for a...
Thank you for sharing your detailed thoughts on the menu and your experience. Your insights are valuable for others looking to try Shake Shack.
Jeez he just talks sooo much before trying the food. Like hurry up and eat. We wanna know if you if actually like it.
Thanks for the feedback..
Avocado is like taking a BITE of BUTTER ; it doesn't make sense 😩😩😆. Avocado DOESN'T has NO FLAVOR ! It's just like eating BUTTER ..😖😖😖
I DON'T like CILANTRO it tastes like a bar of SOAP 😩😩😖😖😖
Yeah it get the Soap/Cilantro thing (Brits call Cilantro, Coriander) certainly isn't a nice taste for me either.
STOP saying chicken burger dammit!!! Lol
We have only just learned it's a Chicken Sandwich!😀 We will try to limited the chicken burger comments to a minimum, but it's second nature!
I trust the original post was good natured ribbing.
It is one of those same word different meanings things that really stand out. Like biscuits for cookies, chips for fries, pudding for dessert, horror of horrors jelly for jello.
