  • I've noticed some inks really stick to the sides of my demonstrator pens. Do you have a top 7 list of cool inks that display nicely in a demonstrator pen?
    generally speaking, more permanent inks tend to be a little stickier
    the lesser saturated/lighter colors tend to be a bit more translucent and look cooler
    Pilot Iroshizuku, De Atramentis (non-document), J. Herbin, Diamine
    Diamine Shimmertastic and J. Herbin 1670's have a hardcore glittery effect in demonstrators that look pretty darn cool
    reds, blues, and greens tend to do pretty well
    J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor
    De Atramentis Atlantic Blue
    Noodler's Apache Sunset
    Pilot Iroshizuku Kosumosu
    Diamine Shimmertastic Golden Sands (really any Shimmertastic)
    Diamine Marine
    Diamine Blue Velvet

    Apache sunset in a green TWSBI eco, looks like a watermelon themed pen. Love it.

      I can picture it! That's a funny combo, I'll have to tell my co-worker who has the Eco Lime. - Colin

    I really like that you've sliced up the q and a's because I don't have the patience for watching whole one's if I'm not into the question, yes I know you probably put the time stamps under the video so I could skip ahead, but this is such a nice format. Thanks.

    “If you grab any bottle of ink, like this one here……this is a bad example, it’s noodlers black.” This made me laugh out loud. Yah I don’t think that is going to be a good example of showing color in a demonstrator pen.

    Baystate blue looks stunning in a demonstrator pen, bright electric blue where the ink level goes down.

    The scented J Herbin inks are great. They're somewhat see through, smell nice, and cling to the side a bit.

      Interesting, I haven't tried out any of the scented inks, might be my next ink choice! - Colin

    When I fill my converter with Emerald of Chivor it looks awesome and I plan on making a clear eyedropper and filling it with that ink.

    I love the yellow Pelikan highlighter ink. I bought a demonstrator pen just to show it off.

    Diamine Red Dragon, so far my favorite red and it is in my trusty TWSBI Vac 700 right now. I'd imagine Diamine Poppy Red would look nice in a clear body also.

      Yeah, I think most Red inks look great in a TWSBI. I had mine with Fuyu-Gaki and loved it. - Colin

      I've had that one in mine also, and though it's a pretty color it's just a little too tame for me.

      Yeah I just got a Vac700R from the Goulets and I must say it looks pretty awesome filled with Noodlers Dragon's Napalm as well!

    My personal favourite is Diamine Pumpkin Orange. Especially in demonstrators because it is seethrough.

    I would think Diamine Oxblood would be neat. Makes me think of writing in "blood" and all for Halloween. lol... and yep, I would think all of the shimmering inks would be really fun to watch.

      Yeah, any of the reds work really well. I have Diamine Red Dragon in a TWSBI now & it looks great. - Colin

      Exactly why I have Noodler's Red Black in a demonstrator pen. Gets a lot of double takes.

    Cape Cod Cranberry is nice, except it stains to a similar degree as Baystate Blue

  • @TheOnlyNightmare
    @TheOnlyNightmare 7 років тому +6

    are there pens which have like a doubled outer layer so that there is the reservoir with the ink for writing and a thin outer layer in which one can fill in ink as well but it would just be for show?

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  7 років тому +5

      Not that I'm aware of! So you have Noodler's Black as the actual ink, but a more colorful choice just to show off? That could be neat, maybe in a work environment where you can't use much beyond blue or black. - Colin

    • @TheOnlyNightmare
      @TheOnlyNightmare 7 років тому +2

      The Goulet Pen Company Yeah something like that. I imagined that there would be a lot of variety in the colors since light would sometimes go through both colors and one would see an additive mix. But I don't know if that would work. Would be amazing though. But having an outside layer with an invisible inside layer would be amazing as well.

      @@Gouletpens maybe you can make a suggestion to some of the companies that make demonstrators to do that, I would love a pen that could do that.

    Love demonstrator pens. Have two more coming. I just hate the burping! Gets low and blop! lol

    • @Gouletpens

      Yeah, that can be frustrating. I just try to keep them as inked up as possible. - Colin

      Its just that I'm working through some Robert Oster samples so not really that full in the Ahab. I think most see that problem and think its the pen but as has been said many times its physics.

      If it's a piston demonstrator like a 580 could you close the piston as you use it to squeeze out the air to stop that from happening?

    I realize this is really old video, but I got a new bottle Diamine Green-Black for Christmas and put it in my new Twsbi Vac mini. What I noticed is spots sticking to sides etc, specks. Is that normal for that ink?

    What about noodles forest green? I love the color, but I’m wondering cuz it seems too dark but other greens I’ve had look great

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  6 років тому +1

      I've found the darker greens end up looking black, but Noodler's inks do cling to the barrel pretty well so you'll see some green in those. - Colin
