What a beast Thiem was here, even before his prime from 2019-2020. Hope he can at least come close to his level again, but the chances of him doing so get slimmer by the day.
He's still only 30 it's all mental he just can't find the same mindset yet, if ever. I hope he does he was my second fav player.

Why is everyone thinking this is 2024? The title clearly states 2017 Semi-Final. Also Murray is out right now for an extended period with an ankle injury.

Two real gladiators of the game , it was a pleasure watching you play growing up as a die hard atp tennis fan 💪 just tragedic too see Thiem go down right at the pinacle of his career at the age of 26/27 right after winning his first slam at the Us Open .. in todays game if fit he would be right at the top of the game ranking wise .with atleast 3 slams or more
I was like hm Dominic still makes bunch of UE but he's getting there hitting well at times, Andy moves quite well for 37 year old, and the commentator then says in the last second that he beat the world nb 1.

It’s been hard to watch Dom lately, which means 10x harder to be him. Regardless, it’s a joy to have him in the sport. He brought such a unique style, something tennis fans all want to see in the grayscale world of pushers minus Carlito and Jannik of course.

The thing with Big 3 is, they stays, they have longer prime time with almost 20 years. Thiem, Murray as normal genius prime time is just at most 6 7 years. That's the key differences there between Big 3 and other Top guys.

What happened to Dominic Theim ?
His wrist injury in 2021 effectively ended his career. It completely destroyed his forehand, his main weapon. His comeback that started in 2022 has been a total failure. He's been losing to anyone in the first rounds everywhere, including challengers and qualifications. He cannot even get back to top 100, let alone top 50 which was his stated goal for this year, otherwise he would consider retiring. Which is what he will probably do soon. Lost in the first round again just minutes ago...

@@davidbrims5825 It's a pity he couldn't do more in his best years. His peak level was insane. At least he got his grand slam title. But he'll turn 31 this year, and he said he takes this year as his last chance to significantly improve his ranking. Which is not happening at all... He also admitted recently he's not the player he used to be, the power is gone, plus his wrist hurts again when he tries to practice as hard as when he was younger. So there is really no good solution in sight.
