    yeah, I had titanium rods put in my lower back so riding my fat boy hurts like heck! So i'm gonna get a Can-am eventually. I jst paid off the Harley so that will be my trade in. As far as her mentioning being seen dropping a bike, I blame the culutre in bikes. They have become such, well, pricks.

    I can appreciate the hesitation that your wife has expressed while riding a bike. As a 60 year old man re-entering the sport, I too feel that a three wheeler is for me in the not too distant future. And thanks to brands such as Can-Am the choices are better than ever. Although pricey, Tilting Works with its articulating reverse trike kit can offer the best of 3-wheel stability & 2 wheel leaning.
    Kudos to your wife for listening to herself and for finding a motorcycle that better meets her needs. And kudos to Can-Am for understanding & addressing the market need.

    Thats an RTL 20+ but I don't recognize the windshield. I have an RTL22. Gorgeous road on the tail end.

      That windscreen is installed on all the RT units at my dealer (Motomember, Purcellville, VA). It's just listed as Vented Windscreen on the sales slip. My wife really likes it a lot. Those vents can open and close by a lever on the screen.

    I agree with you on that the spyder is more stable than Honda trike Goldwing trike it is more safer because of the wheelbase is wider and the wheels on front

    Why are people making excuses for riding or owning a spyder. I don't ride a spyder because its for wimps and girls. Or, because i am too old to handle a two wheeler. I do feel better on rainsoaked highways or an unexpected curve or damaged road. After an hour of crablegging a Roadglide for 45 minutes in 95° on '55 south, i didn't have to pull off the road for a break like my companion did. The spyder is the best choice for an intelligent rider who doesn't enjoy a life threatening event on every turn on his bike. There's no shame in riding a spyder.

      THANK YOU!! Not a damn thing wrong with me either, I came from the two wheel community been riding since 72 first bike was a 75 GW, still OWN a 2016 GW but spend most of my time on my RT limited for long trips and I LOVE THEM BOTH. It's bad enough traditional motorcyclists reviewing Can Ams will at some point remark " good for old folks, good for the physically disabled, good for people that don't know how to or are too scared to use a clutch etc etc as if those things are required to be able to " legitimately" put your knees in the breeze and never mention it's also made for nearly EVERY and ANYONE which the two wheel community simply cannot claim ( is it hating?) . Folks never make excuses, concede or apologize for riding the bike YOU love...ever! 😊

    I have no health issues and no fears of riding. I love supporting things different. Because of this I started looking into riding a spyder instead of another 2 wheel motorcycle, my other choice was going to be a Ducati if I did go 2 wheel. I fell in love with how the F3 looked. Because I like to be different, I pulled the trigger and bought one in 2018. To me it looks and feels sporty. It is not the same feel as a 2 wheel, to me it has become better and I now enjoy taking someone on the back as well. I have put up with so many people putting it down, but I personally am proud to have one and ride it. Yes it does have some faults but so does other 2 wheels. Unbelievably Harley has a bike that has the nickname "death wobble" used to describe it but yet others seem to enjoy that for some stupid reason. Can-am has done a great job on changing a stale industry that hasn't really evolved for years and years and they did it well. That is why there are more and more "concept" bikes coming out with 3 wheels now including the dying brand Harley. The Spyder is fast, safe, sporty, and a lot of fun. I get that it's not for everyone but for those that DO have physical limitations the Spyder has given them freedom again. So for those that would rather not ride at all and no longer get out and have fun, or are to unwilling to be different, or just want to make fun of others that just love to ride.. have at it.....I'm to busy enjoying life on my Spyder to really care. For those that think it is just for people that have some physical restrictions, try one for a week, then let us hear your opinion.
    To your wife, welcome to the Spyder family, it is an awesome community of people and glad to have her. She seems very smart and is a great rider to know when a change needs to be made. A good motorcyclist is one who is aware of when it becomes time to stop or make a change instead of worrying about looks or others opinions. Enjoy the ride and enjoy life! Good looking ride and video too!

      Thank you for the welcome and kind words.
      We've discovered a lot a positive aspects of this Spyder that we never learned the first time around. Top of the list is the desire to ride has returned. Riding interest has been slowly dwindling for years, and so great to see it back. The Spyder has offered new challenges, and my wife has embraced them.

      💯
      I live 6 minutes from the mountains, canyons, lakes, reservoirs, and twisties here in my part of Colorado. My wife won’t ride on two wheels. Even her bicycle got sidelined in favor of a e-trike. So…I ended up with a 2019 Spyder RT LTD.
      Talking about getting razzed! These parts are covered with bike clubs, sports bikes, super bikes, everything on 2 wheels with a twitchy motor is present.
      It took 6000 miles before I relaxed enough to start pushing it, another 5000 before there is no separation between me and the machine. What I used to white knuckle at 30 mph I happily blow through at 60-70 mph. I bet 1% of the Spyder riders have a clue what their machines are capable of.
      Nowadays, other bikes let me blow by out of respect and they have fun trying to keep up through the twisties. In public, at gas stations, biker bars, I’m treated as a welcome peer and little by little some of the older dudes and making the change over to Spyders. Mostly because of physical issues but I know they want to ride like I do.
      I’m nothing special, I just ride 150 miles, give or take, every day and every day is a practice day for 1 or 2 techniques.
      I know you’re wife will be a Titan!

    Glad your wife has found her comfort once again on the Spyder! My wife is the same way, but has not ridden two wheels before except for a bicycle which she fell off causing her to injure herself. Plus due to a medical injury some 8 years ago, her balance is not good anymore & the Spyder gives her the stability which makes her happy & can get that wind in her face still.
    Continue to enjoy your Spyder as much as we do ! Regards Stephen & Pauline ( Canada).

    I'm happy that your wife has found something, that for now, is working out great. I don't have a Spyder anymore, but I had one when I was 35 years old. No pain or fear of dropping a bike, I just liked it, and that was it. I have a bike and a trike now and while I ride each for different reasons, the best reason is because I like it. Ride whatever you want for whatever reasons and the right people will just be glad that you're enjoying the ride. Godspeed

    I am 53 and am about to buy a new 2023 CA Spyder RT Limited as my very first bike. The dealership is wanting to sell me a 'service package' for 3 years of service for $2300. Is that wise to get? Bike only has 1 mile on odometer now. Thanks for any help.

    • @KSRCon01_dd
      @KSRCon01_dd Рік тому

      Thanks...
      How many years does the service package cover, and how many miles do you ride? Those questions should help you make a decision on the number of services you'll likely need and the value the package offers.
      For us, we did get the package. Wife already has over 4K on the RT and will likely have another 2K or more added in the next 10 days. Service package seemed to make sense for us.
      Good luck, and congrats on your new Spyder.

    We used to have a Harley Davidson Tri-Glide Ultra Classic. We now are riding a Can-Am Spyder RT Limited, and although l like HD's, the Spyder provides a much superior ride imho, and that is with the stock suspension! No more excessive heat and noise, no more stiff clutch feathering in stop and go traffic. Plus with the power steering, no more sore forearms or shoulders pushing and pulling to go through corners. Safe Travels.

    I really enjoyed you video and I'm sure it'll speak to alot of people. I had to park my Goldwing this spring due to a knee operation and it was the right summer to finally try a Spyder. 2 trips and 4000 miles later, I seriously think I'll be riding the Spyder more than the GL1800 once I'm fully recovered. Continue enjoying that RT, it's an amazing machine! Looking forward to your next video! 👍

    I saw someone in the comment section who said they would rather give up riding than ride a Spyder. I find that odd. If you really like riding, and the feeling of being outside, seems weird to just quit.

    • @dirt_dad_stuff
      @dirt_dad_stuff  Рік тому +2

      Everyone has to do their own thing. To me, a thought like that is very likely someone who has never had to seriously consider giving up riding.
      I understand that perspective. But when reality punches you in the gut. clears your head, and makes you really think about options, perspectives can change.

    • @dirt_dad_stuff
      @dirt_dad_stuff  Рік тому

      Over the last several decades, I've purchased a considerable number of new motorcycles and ATVs. Every one of them have specified an oil change at 600 miles.
      The RT manual says it is considered broken-in at 600 miles. Truth is, it's just a reflex to do an oil change at the end of break-in. Never once thought to check the manual to see if it wasn't required.
      Old habits die hard.

    • @dirt_dad_stuff
      @dirt_dad_stuff  10 місяців тому

      Because every motorsport product I've owned in the last 30+ years required it. I just did it out of instinct. No, the manual did not require it. Just habit.

    I'd say about 50% of Spyder riders are aging people coming off of 2 wheels. If I ever get to that point, I will go with a hack or just a small, light bike. Spyder's are nice though, almost Goldwing comfort level(RT's) and smooth handling.

    I went from a Goldwing to Can Am. Although it’s known as a reliable engine the Rotax engine sounds like bolts rattling in a tin can. I went back to a Goldwing. If they ever design a quiet and smooth engine like the Goldwing’s I’ll be back.
