This was by far the best arrangement of the night in terms of pure musicality against a lot of showmanship. It appears that the mics were positioned wrong The captain at this point is responsible for insuring the mics are placed where they need them to be in order for the music to sound balanced it a very sad lesson to learn but still the best steel orchestra in Antigua LONDON FAN xxx xxx
Better luck next year guys, as a former player and a great fan of Babu I know you are the best arranger in Antigua no quetion about that. This year did not go as planned but with better planning 2014 will be Halcyon year. My advise to Babu do like you use to do record the band during the final stage of preperation listen and make adjustments. The Bass and rhytm over powering the tenors. I have been playing with Babu forever his strength is in the tenors sections pure sweet arrangements.
Starr not sure of that but I am glad you can look beyond the Iron section and Bass that is playing banging way to loud. The arrangements of this song is way too sweet.
Kemmoy you do have a point but as a member of this band and played with them for many panoramas, this is an area we always have problems. In practice Babu and the other drillers will preach dont dont over power the pans and especially the tenors. It is easy to hear the Bass and iron section killed this arrangements. The tensors are trying its best just to be heard. Listen to 4:18 into the song and beyond not balance at all. None of the bans beat us better arrangements or sweeter music.
I am not going to get into what band beat who or any of that. the point I am trying to make is, this recording sounds way better than the day of the performance, regardless of the band not being balanced and all that.

the mics are for recording purposes only. what you are hearing its not the same sound the audience or the judges heard.
