The idiom, "when my ship comes in," generally seems to amount to another idiom, "don't hold your breath" -- which makes this rather doleful treatment perfect! Perhaps not surprisingly, our baritone, Ben Gage, stood a full six feet, six inches. Appropriately enough, he married the statuesque Esther Williams. ... So, did his ship come in?

Ben Gage sounds like a very capable singer but he gives a very different feeling to the tune than Eddie Cantor.
