Try gum paste instead of fondant, it dries completely hard into something more like hard candy. Better than modeling chocolate and candy melts too for this purpose.
If you are having an adult party you can make vodka jello shots gelatinous cube style. Just make sure you are working with gloves if you are making it for someone else.
