- Heya! I wanted to talk about why Rec Room doesn't deserve the hate it gets. It's such an incredible game, so to see it be put down is very degrading. Things like the full body avatars aren't as bad as you think, everyone is just overreacting. Hope you enjoy!
I'm changing it up from the ordinary gameplay videos. I've had some trouble finding some good clips, might have to ask a favour or two 🤭.

To some degree, we are liable for a lot of faults and oversights that the game has.
I think the message of the video rings true that it would be nice if users could word and deliver their feedback in the most constructive way possible. Furthermore even with all of its faults, Rec Room does deliver an experience unmatched by any other game out there.
However, it is hard to not see the areas that we're falling short in that used to not be the case. I hope my team sees it more as opportunities to get ahold of user feedback and act on it in positive ways for both the game and the players, rather than continue full steam ahead without any player feedback in mind.

I agree. It's so easy to complain, but people forget that the staff are just doing their best. When people like me refuse to complain endlessly, we get accused of "being too afraid to speak up because we might lose our partner program status." No. I just don't feel the need to endlessly whine. If it bothers me, I put in a support ticket and tell staff what I think needs changing. It's called constructive feedback ☺

No but there not doing there best, the game had 10x more content coming out and ran 10x better at the same time back when they had a third of the staff, not to mention the insane token inflation making everything they do a cash grab; also they never add things people want but continue to push things people never asked for like full body

Honestly, Idc if people say Rec Room is a bad game, I still like it no matter what, but I still find it weird for full body avatars to exist because that just doesn't seem to fit Rec Room that well :/
I 100% agree with you rec room douse not deserve all the hate, but I do have to complain about something and that's all the building bugs so many of them I know there trying their best, but I do wish they would use some of their time that went to making new items and doing other stuff and put it into fixing a few of the longtime bugs that building has.
I personally think they should put out more bug fixes than anything else, anything they make usually just die’s, people have been voicing complaints for over a year now, and it’s just gone downhill. RecRoom has a large dev team and I’d like if they put it to use. Because not only is the game not good at the moment, but as a builder and creator in recroom the game is just absolutely horrible and dreaded to try and do anything in for more than 30 minutes
I strongly agree with the concerns about people complaining in Rec Room, but I disagree with your statement that Rec Room is solely for a younger audience. I have been playing since 2017, and during that time, it was mostly adults playing. The younger audience started joining when screen players joined in. Therefore, I completely disagree with the idea of using full body in Rec Room since I believe it will change the overall atmosphere and make it similar to VR Chat. While I do agree with the recent complaints and issues, I can't agree with your portrayal of the game as being primarily for a younger audience. In my experience, everyone I played with was an adult. So, I would retract that statement.
The more I watch this video back, the more I realise how I worded the younger audiences part wrong.
I was aiming to try and say something along the lines of how the addition of younger players have changed the game, rather than it being based for a younger audience

Honestly I wish rec room would just keep putting out bug fixes instead of new features that might break the game more

It’s not that quest 2 stand-alone players like me “hate” the game. It’s that on the quest 2. Rec room had probably the easiest graphics ever. Then when the mirror glitch came out, the lag appeared. And it keeps getting worse. And then they roll out rec room studios without fixing the lag they created. So it really isn’t that we hate the game it’s that we want the old rec room back. It’s probably also the reason so many people left. Cause who wants to walk into rec center with your headset over heating and running 5 frames per second and call that fun. But on the bright side. Rec room has seen this and is working on fixing it! Which is honestly so cool! Cool beans rr!
I totally understand where you're coming from. I was a quest 2 player only a couple months ago, and I get what you mean. The lag has gotten progressively worse.

It took me a free to play player, for 3 years of saving tokens so I could buy one item in the newest shop. The highest amount I’ve saved up is 5000
I know it's cheesy, but it's similar to fortnite.
You can barely save up enough Vbucks over many months to get the battle pass. Quite similar to your situation. I don't see anyone complaining about fortnite's pricing.
To be honest, yeah you're right, they do get a lot of hate, and I'm tired of pretending that it's alright to complain so negatively at them. I'll admit, in some cases it's fair to get annoyed, like with the overly expensive items which have become something they keep doing recently. But at the end of the day, crying about it isn't gonna make a difference, they won't listen to you if you keep consistently whining at them. Supply them with actual structure points and give out your opinion in a respectful manner, and if others join in and also share their thoughts in that same way, we can shape the game how we want to. We'll be grateful because Rec Room actually listened to us since we stopped crying at them, and they'll be happy their users are enjoying their game.
This is so true. Like you said, the game's not perfect (like the prices), and constantly complaining won't fix anything. Providing beneficial criticism is how rec room improves, not through complaining about it on a UA-cam video.

To defend Rec Room’s predatory practices is to be blind to the gross mishandling of a game with POTENTIAL to be great, but potential that is falling flat time after time again. The original price tag for the S Glitch astronaut set clocks out to at least $85 USD, maybe more, depending on which token bundles someone purchases. The ingame economy is getting worse by the day, and telling the community to not be (Rightfully) outraged at the bloodsucking decisions by the higher-ups is downright depressing. You shouldn’t indirectly try to cause the game to be worse just so you can get partner. Use your voice for good. Not this.
Did you notice I didn't mention prices? In the pinned comment, I also said the prices are outrageous. let me explain my reasoning quickly:
there are (approximately) 10-15 items that are actually above 20k tokens. Hence, they've deemed the name "premium products". They're the "apple products" of the rec room market, for the select few that can afford it. Have you ever heard builders bragging about how much they make? I've heard numbers in the millions.
Lesser expensive products are at a similar price range to what other games put their prices at (valorant, fortnite, etc). It's the few more expensive items that make people believe the rec room economy has spiralled out of control.
Finally, they're almost certainly not doing it out of greed. The services it takes to run a game this big has likely increased in price as a result of real-world inflation. This means the goods Rec Room provides have to increase in price. Simple business knowledge, if you ask me.

Secondly, builders having that much only destroys the ingame economy further, because now these “premium items” have to be price-hiked further and further to fix their mistake. It’s not “simple business” due to inflation, as in that instance, logically, it’d be better to alter purchase options rather than ingame prices.
Partnered room creators aren’t the only issue, but are a significant part of, the problem. They have a stronger voice than the average player and most choose not to use it, either because they are blind to the situation or maliciously keeping their mouths shut so they can profit off the rest of us. Your innocent hopes and dreams that the big corporation isn’t focused on money would be nice, but they’re just that. Hopes and dreams.
Additionally, games like Fortnite generally handle their economies better overall, with pricing that seems quite reasonable for what you’re getting, unlike Rec Room as of late. A boring black reskin of a colorful parrot bag should not be double the parrot’s price.
Defending inconsistent choices from a big corporation that were made to increase profit doesn’t do anyone any favors, whether it be a game company or something far greater.
I’m sorry, but the idea that there’s zero greed involved is just not realistic.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I was talking to Sonic about this and we both agreed this would be a good idea to have them seperated.
I do not want to be that guy but you are a part of the problem, defending the direction the company is taking is the reason its gotten this bad to begin with. They are making bad decisions, and they are getting the deserved backlash. No one besides a very vocal minority are talking shit about the developers who actually care about their jobs who really do put effort into the game, the higher ups are the problem and making a video like this is more power to them to keep making greedy decisions. You aren't helping, You have a decently sized youtube channel based around the game and you don't want to talk shit about it so you can maintain your chance at Rec Room partnering you.
Rec Room deserves the backlash, we know that enough complaining will get change made as proven by them doing the bare minimum and reducing the price of the new set to a slightly less insane pricetag, by making a video like this you are promoting the exploitative monetization methods they're partaking in. Rec Room is being greedy. Grow up.

I think it's quite immature to think I'm defending it just for a chance of verification. That is the least of my concerns. I have met dozens of moderators and developers at Rec Room who are extremely upset about the backlash they receive for a few minor issues.
There are very few items that are actually expensive. Most items are (and always have been) under ten thousand tokens. People love to look at the 5-10 "premium products" that are for the select few (that make a lot of tokens) to purchase. Not too different from real life, if you ask me.
Also, have you thought about their actual reasoning behind it? I doubt they want to, but real-world inflation rates result in an increase in prices for everything. Increasing the token and item prices ensure the developers have a job.
Then again, you're free to have your own opinion. Just think about the ACTUAL reason they increase prices. it's not out of greed.
The "actual reason" they increase prices is because they're greedy and they use exploitative methods to do so, Rec Room pulls in enough money on its own, they release items that cost 30+ dollars at the LEAST, they aren't doing it for premium users, they price it in specific ways so you have to buy multiple bundles that will net you more tokens than you need so you spend more money for lazy reskins. The developers are paid well, their monthly salaries aren't based on how much money the game pulls in that month, it's based on how much they signed up for as a living wage, and the big higher ups have more than enough money from the investors they keep pleasing by making bad decisions (out of GREED).
I don't know why you're so adamant on defending the big company and typing like a supervillain to one up someone in the youtube comment section, YOU are a part of the problem by supporting their actions and if you want this "incredible game" to remain as incredible as you claim then drop it and let peoples voices be heard.
I don't really agree though I do see where you're coming from for me I feel like the main issue I have with the game is that it's losing most of the charm it had at least for me that is (also in my opinion the full body avatars look ugly)

I don’t hate this game, it’s just that the lag and prices are just off the charts. Expensive items that cost like a thousand tokens, and lag that making me run on 2-5 frames, and overheating and crashing my game. I just wish they could gives us the old Rec room game back.. but I can say thanks to them for trying to improve the game and make it better than what it is right now.

My issue with the full body isn't the concept itself, but rather how it's appearance follows the failed trends of corporate sanitized avatars. Everyone remembers miis, but no one thinks about xbox avatars anymore. They look like horizon avatars, and that game gets like 1k concurrent players vs vrchat with millions. It's because they lack personality, and look as robotic as Zuckerberg himself. It's so easy to dismiss it by saying "well you don't have to use it" but whether you want to admit it or not cosmetics and user avatars affect how players feel about how they are able to express themselves, and it's just going to cause in and out groups just like walkers and teleporters. Like I mentioned before I think full body could be cool, but when you see how exploitative their mtx practices have been lately it's hard to see this much more than a trend chasing cash grab. Are people too quick to utilize the negativity for their channels benefit? Sure, but I don't think some of the complaints you see are that outrageous. Especially the skibidi toilet garbage custom rooms dominating the hot area and RR doing nothing about them despite saying they will months ago

Ruining their game: I think this is about double shot, which they brought back, so that argument is obsolete.
Community rooms are boring: some are great, and rec room features those rooms and puts them in a special carousel in the UI.
One RRO per year: again, you have no idea how hard game development is. Games are hard to make, and rec room can’t constantly make updates and bug fixes and new ui and new items and new ads and new things, and also release more than one HUGE game. You get mad when they don’t release one, get mad when they release one, and you’ll get mad when they realize a bunch because they will be low effort.
Learn to be grateful and realize that there are actual people behind the rec room development team.

Rec room as a whole has taken a complete nose dive when it comes to literally everything other than the fact that it can turn a huge profit from its underage, indoctrinated “players”. They have shifted from, “oh yeah, we need to create content” to, “oh yeah, we need more money to feed our corporate investors”, it is a real shame to the rec room community as a whole, as this affects all of us. If rec room continues this backwards, middle finger like strategies to try and turn a profit against its players, I’m sure I will see more and more people quit the game, and the more and more I don’t blame them.

Actually it deserves it first of all they added those weird bad ears you can have on your character and they look so bad also you can pierce them? What the fuck not forgeting about that they added full on Lgbt rwinbow t shirts and hoodies.
