Hi Howard, I bought this camera about 2 years ago and I absolutely love it. I chose it over the 35 SP due to its smaller size. I particularly like the shutter speed lock when you half depress the shutter button, allowing you to easily compensate for backlit subjects. I use it with a weinCELL and the exposures turn out perfectly. Great little camera.

Hi WoodNasher. I never fall to be surprised by how capable this camera is.
      Glad you enjoy yours.

Decades ago, when my mother wanted a camera, I bought her a 35RC. It checked the boxes of light, capable, and automated enough so all she had to do was focus. She used it for years until she couldn't see well enough to focus it. She gave it back to me, and I replaced it with a Nikon auto-everything point-n-shoot, which turned out to be another winner. (She dropped it and lost it in an outdoor flowerbed in the rainy Pacific NW one Fall. It sat out in the environment over Winter. When she found it in the Spring, the drugstore put in new batteries and a roll of film, and off she went.)

Hi Randall. That's quite a story.
I suspect that the images from the RC were slightly superior, but the Canon wins the durability battle hands down.
      Cheers, Howard 😃

This is one of my favorite street cameras.. it’s really small to have a full manual mode and the it’s automatic mode is a prize. Not a single wasted shot. Fits in your purse.. the battery will last you weeks as the only thing the camera uses it for is the needle in the viewfinder. The viewfinder if working in manual mode will tell you the settings to capture a good exposure with a half press. Really it’s the size that is great, and the price can’t be beat.

Hey Howard, it's Chris. Had to delete my account and go with an old one I had from years ago. Another fine review of a fine looking camera! I have never used one of these but have considered trying one. I was given an old Rollei 35 from a German friend who bought it new. I use it a lot due to it's size and great photos. This camera seems to have the same vibe to it. These seem to be quite popular cameras.

      Christopher Bortle Chris I assume.
Hi Chris, good to hear from you again. The OM1n is quite a bit bigger than a Rollei 35, but in the SLR world at the time, this was as small as it got.
      Interesting handle you chose.
      Cheers, Howard

@@howpow Sick in summer? What a disappointment. I'm keeping fit, despite our having recent flooding and cold temperatures. I'm thankful I don't live in middle America.

Love your videos Howard! Do you have any half-frame Olympus cameras? I just got a 1963 Pen F and it's so great to use.

Hi laser vampire. I'm afraid I don't have any half frame cameras at all, probably shows a bit of a deficiency in my collection.
I might have to correct the situation at some stage.

Hi Malc. It isn't Phil's old camera. I bought it at a camera fair about 10 years ago.

i’m a little confused on what setting to put it on, on my film it says 400 speed and 135 - 36 exposure do you know what setting i should put it on? i don’t think the auto setting works on my camera because the film real doesn’t move with it on

    • @howpow
      @howpow  Місяць тому +1

Hi Jasmine. A couple of questions here.
The 400 is the film speed asa/iso.
The 135 is simply saying that that it's 35mm film.
The 36 exposures is the length of the film.
The auto setting will require the correct battery but the camera still requires you to wind the film on manually, only the light metering is automatic.
It might be worth taking it to a good camera shop to run you through how it works.
      Cheers, Howard
