In 2022 , we are probably as far away in time from CDs and computer discs as this gentleman was from Regina discs back when this video was shot.

I love those old-fashioned music boxes, they're beautiful and very sound great.

That was very interesting. What at first appears to be old, out-dated technology, is in effect, an early form of today's digital media. Even more impressive is that they still work! Thank you for sharing.

We take things for granted these days. It's just too easy.

The big old one sounded really nice at the end, and I guess unlike the Compact Disk, this one does not need electric power or batteries to run. Same as the old Gramophone's

I knew of the toy ones but didn't even think about the larger ones before, that's awesome, definitely the precursors....

Yeah! As you mentioned it the first music box was made in 1770, The Circa music boxes were made in 1860s, The Reuge music boxes were made in 1886, The Thorens music boxes was made in 1883, The Sankyo music boxes were made in 1946 and Yunsheng music boxes were made in 1990s.

In case there are a lot of note types of the music boxes as I mentioned it long time ago. There is thousands of music boxes tunes and we can hear every tune the song plays on a music box.
The music box company created a note pitch, like Flats, Naturals and Sharps.

Polyphons are my absolute favourite!!💞There’s a pub a few miles away from me called the Yew Tree inn. The landlord has loads of these on display and anyone can play them. Just ask the landlord to wind them up first and have a pile of 10p coins ready. Exquisitely beautiful to listen to and my absolute favourite pub to visit☺️🍻🎶🎵💞💞💞

Is this not a 100% energy transfer device. The energy you put into winding the spring gets converted to sound and motion of the wheel.. so is this not a energy device with next to perfect transfer of energy if not amplifying the energy?!

Not really, as with any mechanical device, some of it will be lost to friction and turn into heat.

After all the buildup of the clip beginning at around 2:36 imagine my disappointment when not a note of the music box is heard. Was it really that bad that we have to listen to some other music box playing one of the most overused music box tunes ever? Other than that, still a rather interesting piece.
