Had to go on benefits once, when my husband was suddenly let go during covid. It was horrendously stressful. We had to sell a lot of our stuff to keep on top of payments. But, I'll be forever grateful for the benefits we got. It kept a roof over our heads and ensured our children were fed. My husband found another job fairly quickly, and after a year there, he got a pay rise, and we fully came off the benefits. I should add that the benefits were reduced once he started his job, but what we got still kept our heads above the water. Benefits is such an amazing thing to have, and so eternally grateful for it. But it does make me so sad when someone abuses it. It ruins it for people in great need, and we were once in great need. Don't let this woman tarnish how benefits helps so many in need.
Im speechless. I thought this was just a different woman. I didnt know this is the same Marie from 7 years ago! OMG! What did she do to her face??????? IM SO SHOCKED
Right?????? I saw her on “this morning” and had no idea it was the same woman. But recognised her accent. And looked it up. Omg!!! She looks so different! wtf has she done to herself!!
Rubbing it in peoples faces? Does she actually think people were looking at her and her life with envy? You had no job, 8 kids, and a horse you can’t afford, sounds like hell, smells like failure. Someone tell her people weren’t jealous.
Thing is many were jealous; not necessarily for her exact life but for what she could afford at the time. Remember this was before welfare reform which bought in benefit caps & a 2 child allowance. She would have been rolling in it.
@@mila71701 there’s even ways around the cap. Why do u think so many people are now classes as ‘disabled’? Because they know if they or at least one of their children are labelled and they then become their carer (🙄😂) it gets them out of work and the cap isn’t in place for them Also there are some families that are ‘single’ mum claims for 2 dads claims for 2
@@ElenEmma88 I think many people are now classed as disabled because there’s greater awareness & assessment for these conditions, which often means people need additional support. I know some abuse it but it’s too reductionist to assume most people are scamming.
No one I've ever met on welfare has ever done this, or anything like this. In fact they are often struggling - no money for emergencies e.g. when the second hand cooker fails inspection, the fridge breaks down and more (these are things i have witnessed first hand). So I have to question was all that money really welfare?
She mentioned that she is struggling now (using food banks) but that it was much easier before the benefit cap. The people I know on welfare (e.g. my sister, so know her finances pretty well) did have enough spend on "luxuries" even without help, granted again this was ~7+ or so years ago.
Remember this was before welfare reform which bought in benefit caps & a 2 child allowance. She would have been rolling in it & cost of living was much much cheaper then.

This is not an uncommon story for some people who claim benefits. Don't know anyone who buys a pony tho (it is a pony) and a 100£ a week livery cost for him is a bargain tbh...

I wonder if brits have to pay back the welfare benefits like people in usa ?🤔 In USA a peraon who recieves benefits have a very syrict limit on what they qualify for,and a certain time to get back to work. Once back to work they are reaposible to pay back the welfare they used during the time they used them.
@@URFUTUREUK what do you mean? Do you mean that women keep making nanies to keep getting welfare? If that is what you mean, then in the USA once was the same, but the republican party noticed that there were so many fatherless children being created just so the mothers could keep collecting government welfare help, that they changed the laws so that if a woman has a child they must either return to work 3 months after the child is born,or work for the government welfare assistance they recieve.
@babeena_gt_3645 yeah they were originally allowed to have as many children as they want and the child tax credits and benefits paid for their lifestyle per head. But now it has been put down to just two children. Our childcare in UK is appalling so I guess mother's don't want to go back to work within three months but really, those working have to because they can't afford NOT to so it's unfair on a lot of the population who work hard. Some families do nothing but seem to have everything, whilst middle class are left to struggle wondering if they can afford a new child or pet for example. There's just no accountability here. A lot of people think it's an easy way to social housing too. Got two neighbours here trying to have more children so they can be moved and they cause all sorts of anti social behaviour while they aren't busying themselves with work or study.
@URFUTUREUK I see the similarities within the countries. It seems many want handouts instead of fruitful life experiences that can live on through generations. I am sorry you have neighbors like that. Child care in the USA is not to good either depending on which state a perain lives in. It is almost like multiple different countries packed on to one piece of land in the USA, so childcare is unpredictable . Finding a dependable friend who has children as well helps with that situation. I never paid for child care. I alternated looking after my friend or sisters children, and they would look after mine. Either way, I understand you
Im sorry she went to the food bank last week? Did she have those lashes on at the time? Bleached hair? Nails? They should have turned her down and told her not to bother coming back.
