- When Chief Oliver De Coque suddenly passed away on June 21, 2008 at the tender age of 61, he left behind fond memories including this summer of 1990 performance at Crenshaw Hall in Los Angeles.
The video was shot single camera on Sony 8mm and edited on Adobe Premiere to capture as much as possible and compile the joy experienced by everyone at the concert.
May Oliver De Coque's soul rest in peace.
Oliver did this performance with everything he's got. Those ppl got what they paid for and even more. Eugene is a legend, so talented all round. Oliver is a demi-god in sound system

When i was still in secondary school i used to pass in front of his house in Lagos state and i saw him at close range sometimes, i knew he was a musician then though. I never knew someday he will put smile on my face as he is doing now.

I imagine that in 1991 Oliver was virtually unknown in Los Angles when he made this appearance. There seems to have been very few people in the audience (mostly Nigerian by appearnace), BUT, unknown to the millions of musically ignorant people in Southern California who were not in attendance, there was something truly extraordinary occurring that night in this small club.

I love Oliver de coque. I grew up listening his music when my dad used to play his songs on his stereo (people's club) on Sundays after church and in his car. But Mr Coque was not born in 1947!! He was more likely to have been born in 1927.

He was actually born in 1947 as states here. I've been an avid fan of his from childhood. He succeeded a bit early in the 70s standards. He also died in his early 60s which left most of us his fans utterly devastated.🎉
