    Pipe bending springs are the best to use, but for people short on money, you can use river sand and heat the pipe at the point you are bending and you will get quite good results. Nice to see a Tuesday video. Glad you gave us a treat. Happy week to you.

    • @manifold1476

      sand or springs would help the pipe not to kink if you need to bend a pipe and don't have a proper bender - but in this case there is a proper bender

    Hi Ants. I think you should try bend tubes without sand. I think you will get much better results. The iron rod that you welded to the bender basement looks like worn coupling pin for soviet tractor (DT-75 or any other) track.

  • @YRR_J
    @YRR_J Рік тому +2

    I'd suggest taking approximate measurements of the K700 water hoses/pipes and see your local auto/tractor part store if they have anything similar in stock. I'd guess you could possibly find long bent rubber coolant hoses to replace the short hoses and the metal pipe in between. You'd also lose two potential leaking point in the process, going down from 4 clamps per side to just 2.

    • @YRR_J
      @YRR_J Рік тому +1

      It looks like the metal cutter or shear could be used with an extension. That handle looks like it begs for a pipe extension to add more leverage.

    • @YRR_J
      @YRR_J Рік тому +1

      That pipe bender may be a nasty surprise. I've seen other youtubers getting that same style bender and it seems it's meant for something like heavy gauge water pipes or something that doesn't kink easily. It will most likely squeeze the pipe if you just try it without some tricks, like heating, filling or something else. Tube/tubing bender is a bit different and probably way more expensive... The dies are a lot "longer" and the pipe/tube is clamped at the other end. The bending force is also added in a different way.

    You might consider getting a mill. You’ve already done some great things with your lathe, and a mill allows you to make almost anything. Just a thought given that you’ve demonstrated some sweet learning skills with anything new. Either way - I’m sure you’ll succeed!!

      i was looking for a mill, found one. But i was too late, it was sold. Do you think vertical mill is better ?

      @@Ants_Pants Yep, a vertical mill is easier to wrap your brain around (not literally, please!) than a horizontal one. The math is technically the same, but I had trouble making things properly on a horizontal. Maybe I’m just stupid - LOLOL!!! You could consider getting an inexpensive one like a SIEG. Then once you get how to use it well, sell it and buy a decent size one. They can mess you up in a hurry if you’re not careful.
