Yeah even now 8 years after your comment, If this pickguard will fit a Squier Classic vibe 50-70's or something like that It will be awesome :D You then have a guitar for max 500€ and this pickguard is about 300€ so under 800€ you have a really great guitar. The only thing you would have to do to that guitar is to switch out that puny trem block on the backside to a thicker one and add 2 more springs to it and you will have a perfect guitar.
We have the iron bottleneck for the rock, the glass bottleneck for the blues, and the Trooper bottleneck for the heavy metal 3:07 !! Thanks Seymour Duncan!! Great pickguard.
I play the DM strat with these pickups through a EVH 5150 iii 2x12 combo. Wow! is all I can say can clean up nicely and the rock/metal sound is outrageous!!! A dream sound with no noise and can't stop playing it. Wish the trem was set up to float but you can modify it.
I will never forget that feeling when in my local guitar store I tried a guitar with hot rails in it, and it made me sound exactly like Dave immediately
I bought the DM California Strat about a month ago. The JB in the middle is a revelation - I can roll it back for beautiful cleans and still get crunchy with it up at full vol , while the hot rails do their thing at either end. I've been super pleased, so it's nice to see there are options for those with a strat laying around.
I have the Fender Iron Maiden guitar with the mirror pickguard. It has the JB in the bridge. Did he change the pickup configuration to the JB in the middle? And would it be a good idea if I put the JB in the middle and moved the hot rails to the bridge?
This is a great set of pickups. The JB Jr. and Hot Rails are both awesome devices. I made an imitation Strat with Warmoth parts and used the DiMarzio SuperDistortion humbuckers in the neck and bridge and a Fender standard middle single coil, trying to emulate his exact signature model Strat. I am currently building his Tobacco Burst Strat and this loaded pick guard is going into that one. I have the body and the neck is on order. I hope my local GC has this in stock. I hate waiting!
James Russo I have to say, before I did this demo I had never played a JB Jr in the middle. It kinda had a slash pickups feel to it, kinda raunchy heavy rock blues vibe and will definitely be using it more in the future!
the thing that blows my mind... for as great of a guitarist as Dave Murray is, there isnt a single video on youtube where he promotes his own line of merchandise or sits down with his guitar in an interview format and shows off his riffs or solos or anything like that. guess he really loves having his personal time to himself when he is not recording or on tour. anyone else with any insight into this? and even Adrian Smith - I can only find a couple such videos where he actually plays his guitar as part of an interview. for many other famous players there are loads of such vids.
Both of them have teached thousands of kids wanting to play guitar, including myself. Their stuff is easy to play and a delight to master. To me is more tan enough.
I know I'm a little late to the game, but wow! I've wanted the Dave Murray Strat since it came out. I love the pickup configuration. I have a 2018 Fender Player Series Strat in white withe Floyd Rose. I bet the black pickguard would look awesome. Plus with a Floyd and a 22nd fret. This would be killer in my guitar.
Awesome! What a treat to have it all done for you too😊👍 Ive a 1990s tabaco burst strat that these would be perfect for, but I'm not keen on the neck, as it's Maple, I prefer RW on Maple (time to sell it 🤔🤔🤔). I well remember, circa, 1984/85, maybe 1986 (it's all a blur tbh) soldering in my first set of Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders, shielding the guitar, upgrading, a good weekend's work that, with a few expletives. Wish I'd never sold that Strat! My oldest strat from 1986ish, still has twin Seymour Duncan Humbuckers - fitted almost from new. A '59 and a Billy Gibbons version of the, iirc, '59. It's a System One Strat, not everyone's cup of tea but I love it. I'm sure that I never do the Seymour Duncan's justice, but I love them nevertheless.😊👍
Yes, Cool rails is similar to paf humbucker. I have Cool Rails in bridge of my strat, with 250kohm pot, and i love it.. it works very well with single coils.
got a strat with 3 hot rails and swapped bridge & mid pickup loc'ns ( no re-wiring to move Tone Adj p/up to Bridge ) obv that screws up the bias, but I noticed the ANGLED Bridge Loc'n p/up was now paired with the Neck ! ! [ or the Middle - - but no neck-mid combo ] - IF a mini toggle could get us another 4-5 tones from the 5 way i'ld like to hear these combo's done right with pickups in the proper loc'ns and Tone Adj for all - same with any Series or Parallel wiring - maybe even combine the farthest coils as a humbucker - hey there's SIX coils there - get Creative - FAR easier for SD to figure it out than us - no reason 3 Humbuckers can't be a "Six Blade Knife" or "Swiss Army Strat"
I have a Fender Iron Maiden guitar with the mirror pickguard. It has the JB JR in the bridge position. Does anybody know why he switched to using the JB in the middle position? Would this be worth switching them to this configuration in my guitar? And what would the difference be in tone? Thanks to anyone who can help.
They have a really nice tone but the guitarist in the video sounds nothing like Dave Murray since a tone also has a lot to do with the guitarist himself.
Thanks! No other changes, a standard Japanese 94 Matsumoto. The old pick guard and pickups had been swapped out by the old owner...he was trying to get a gilmour thing going on! But the rest is standard.
I ended up just buying the Fender Dave Murray guitar. I love it. The pickups are awesome I was surprised about the JB jr in the middle, but it works so good for various playing styles. and the hotrails are just plain bad ass.
does it also fit on a fender Mexican standard stratocaster? let me know because I have of putting it on my fender Mexican standard stratocaster and because of that I am a huge iron maiden fan. keep up the good work.
The screw holes might not line up. Also, you might have to check under the pickguard to see if there is a routing for a middle pickup (there should be). It is recommended for American Strats so it can drop right in.
I love Dave Murray's sound. But I don't just play metal. Do these pick ups work well for a clean/ bluesy sound just as well? I've Yngwie Malmsteen pick ups in mine and they're weak as fuck.
Well, for blues, I'd recommend more subtle pickups than Hot Rails and the JB Jr. Maybe something like a Cool Rails (n), Vintage Rails (m), Little 59 (b). With blues, you'd want some serious dynamics and a non-compressed sound...Hot Rails is really only for heavier music.
Tone is in the hands. When played through the same gear it still doesn't sound nothing like Dave Murray. And if you put Dave Murray in a 400 dollar gear set up he would still sound like Dave Murray.
David Gilmour developed his style trying to replicate Peter Green...While doing so, he developed his own style, but you can hear the influence. When people buy signature gear, it gives them the passion to practice which in many cases leads on to developing their own sound and style. This was the same for SRV and Hendrix...in fact almost all of them...in particular, Gary Moore who purchased Peter Greens Les Paul in the attempts to sound like Peter Green which led to his amazing career.
Angled pickups sound diff - no HH setup will ever sound like a Fender Strat... - add Bridge Tone Adj for that Fat Thick Clapton or Gilmour tone you cannot get from a HSS setup - "slope" Hot Rails for more bass at bridge & more treble in middle and paired Hot Rails will even give "quack" tones
As cool as this is, and with all due credit to Dave's evolution, progression, and development over his career, to me, "The" Dave Murray Strat pickguard has a double cream DiMarzio PAF at the neck, a vintage white Strat single coil in the middle, and a double cream DiMarzio Super Distortion at the bridge, and with humbucker mounting rings added as well. That was his setup during Maiden's artistic and commercial peak during their heyday. And don't get me wrong... Seymour Duncan makes my absolute favorite set of humbuckers, an Alnico Pro II Neck at the neck, and a 59'/Custom Hybrid at the bridge. And I also think that Dave Murray's current setup is far more versatile, as well with as a couple more decades worth of his tastes becoming more refined and discerned, as well as a couple decades worth of pickup art and technology development can only improve things. But all that being said, a set of full sized double cream DiMarzios, with added pickup mounting rings, is "The" Dave Murray setup... It just is what it is...
+tomoya97 We are constantly adding new demos every week. THere are many demos here on UA-cam that show the great sounds of the Steve Harris model as well.
Any idea how much these will cost? It's crazy that us guys in Santa Barbara sometimes have to deal with guys selling stuff in Texas for things that are made 5 miles away. Gotta take care of us LOCAL cats, man!

this is SO. BAD. ASS. I might have to buy another entry level Fender strat just to drop this beast inside of it!

The slide with the Iron Maiden beer was a nice fan service moment :)
That is one of the greatest solos ever
Which song please?
Absolutely! I get goosebumps and tears and everything in between.
We have the iron bottleneck for the rock, the glass bottleneck for the blues, and the Trooper bottleneck for the heavy metal 3:07 !! Thanks Seymour Duncan!! Great pickguard.
2:10 someome PLEASE tell me the name of that song!!!
What a great playing!!!!!!!! Dude, that melodies and tasteful playing can sell any pickup!

I know I'm 6 years late, but apparently Dave likes to use it for the clean stuff
Epic tone, total legend!
Dream guitar. Signature strat - Dave !!...and that Trooper beer too ;)
Just picked up the black one of these for my platinum Strat. Incredible sounding!
He uses 3 hotrails though no?
@@JS-te4gz no jb Junior in middle

That black strat... Dang!
i have to get a Mexican Strat or find a decent used one to drop this one in
What song is that by the way
What's the name of the first song??
Fit in my 2022 Fender stratocaster american ultra?
Are these made for a standard strat trem or a floyd rose?
please tell me there's a left handed version for this
You might have to email seymour duncan's customer service and ask
I wonder if these are still available in 2021 ?
What pots there used is 250k or 500k pots
Do the Cool Rails have more highs?
Yes, Cool rails is similar to paf humbucker. I have Cool Rails in bridge of my strat, with 250kohm pot, and i love it.. it works very well with single coils.

I know the screw holes won't line up. Some people don't care about this, though and just drill new holes.

Love how they show a pic with his hand blocking the true hotrails middle pickup at 0:02
hahah trrue😂😂
Can someone help me with the pickups height set up?? Because I bought this pickguard and I changed the height by mistake :( Thanks in advance!
no coil tap/split?
well, im sold. Whats the damage in ca dollars?
You'd have to check your local dealer...they will have the best price.

Wouldn't it be better to put the jb jr in the bridge?
Will it fit on a squire affinity strat???
Noor Marzuk Khan. It would cost more than your affinity
Would this fit into my strat that currently has an HSS configuration?
Yes, it will! If it is routed HSS, a SSS pickguard will fit...on some non-USA Fenders, the screw holes might be off, though.
Is it cut for Floyd rose or stock strat tremolo? Always hard to find Strat pick guards with cut for floyds
jgmopar stock trem
Thanks
@@seymourduncan but why? How can you make a pickguard from a floyd rose guitar (dave murray strat) that doesn't fit with a floyd rose?

name of this songs???
can you fit this pick guard on a stratocaster hss with the deluxe tremolo on it?
+John Harpur Measure the width of the deluxe trem and compare it to a vintage one. If they are the same, it should fit.
+Seymour Duncan Pickups Will this fit on a Floyd Rose equipped Strat?
+TheEarthling78 Actually, the cut out for the trem is for a stock USA Fender, not with a Floyd...so no, not at this time.
La Fender Stratocaster Dave Murray es hecha en México. Viene con Floyd Rose original.
This is only about the pickups.
Is their tabs for the first guitar solo
At the moment there are no TABS for this...sorry! Will try to get them done one day!
Are these pickups "noiseless" or they present a "native hum"? Thanks in advance!
+Solrac K These are noiseless humbuckers in a single coil size.

***** yeah im waiting so i can get an american. but thanks for the answer!
are these pickups coil tappable?
They can be split, but don't have taps. The pickups are 4 conductor, so you can wire them to do lots of fun stuff.
awesome, so many ideas so little time!
what solo is 1:40
or tabs?
backing track??
Will this fit on my Mexican Strat? The guitar is new.
+Roy Buffalo This is made for USA Strats, so the screw holes might not line up.
+Seymour Duncan Pickups Darn...gotta do it the hard way I guess. Where can I obtain the pots and selector switch?
+Roy Buffalo We sell our own branded SD pots, and as far as a switch, any high quality Switchcraft 5 way switch will work.
Cool. One last question. Which pots are used for the volume and tones?
These should be 250k pots. If you want a brighter sound, go with 500k.
not convinced where you would get clean tones from with these 3 pups. amazing rock pups though.
I prefer their 80's albums. Was he using this set back then? ...
...
DiMarzio Super Distortion (bridge) in those classic records
And DM SD in the neck too, seeing as all his solos are played on the neck pickup
