The difference is he actually had to argue without a teleprompter or reference materlas in a less scripted environment

If not, how can you not see that as obvious biased way of conducting a debate? The amount of fact checking would then depend on the level of knowledge of the subject at hand possessed by the moderators. I mean, I know you're used to having the media doing your work for you, but do try and get used to the opposite.
