You guys are great! It’s nice to see you going through the evolution of learning as you go. My wife and I are planning a similar adventure. We have bought our first sailboat to learn on over the next two years while we get our certifications. I had some friends pull the same nail polish stunt on me while napping on the side of the pool in Toronto. I though my toes were bleeding when I woke up. Have fun! Cheers! 🍾🥂😎
The Guy from "sailing - good, bad, ugly" had his fishing rod pulled out of the fishing rod holder by a hooked fish. That thing you got looks a bit too short for me. After that loss he always secures the fishing rods with a tether. Maybe you should give it a thought. I just started watching your channel, so far I like it. Wish you both good sailing in good companion ship!
Matt, is the G B U guy, and yes, it don’t take that much to pull the rod out of the holder... you also Need a Net or a Gaffer to get the fish from the water into the boat...!!
LOL. I'm commenting before I even finish the video. False albacore or Bonita, most throw them back, but can you eat them? heck yea. If you keep them and you probably already know some of this by now, but yes bleed them first. Save some very small pieces of skin and fillet to tip your lure for the next fish as this fish can be used as bait. The fillets you plan to eat, put in ice water for a an hour or so, this will pull the rest of the blood out. season the way you like and sear quickly on each side leaving the center still red. While this is no blackfin tuna, you can still enjoy the Bonita when prepared properly. Remember a steak is only as good as the cook. It can be delicious or it can be boot leather.
You keep playing with all those snakes and you will eventually get ahold of the wrong one. You almost did earlier when you were filming that copperhead laying at the base of the post.
Glad you enjoyed Charleston, my home town. I can see my house over your shoulder as you are leaving. Have a great journey. And no worries, I think you ran aground in NC in the same spot I did.
Far be it for me to laugh at Travis misfortune ( well, no, that's not quite accurate ROFL!!!!!!). At least he didn't score pink ( or shaved off ) eyebrows so there's that lol! Payback? Steph is a bit of a legend in the galley so might not end well - just sayin'. Speaking of which 'The Prankster' looks like she is on a foodies tour of the east coast. Good job winkling out the eateries where the food looks so delish'. You two have quickly adapted to the sailing life - starting to tap into the capabilities of what appears a very good sail boat. Getting some sea miles under the keel. A genuine feel good video - thanks!
All caught up now. I thought the pink looked fine. You could have rocked the socks and sandals look to hide them. 😂. I see the little bits in the intro. Do you have any video of the refit. And how about a tour of the boat sometime. Thanks guys. 👍👍
I'm not sure rigging those lures rigged up like a Sabiki rig is a good idea. Daisy chaining lures is for catching small pan fish or bait fish. For big pelagic fish, use one lure per line and not 200 yards out. At sailboat speeds I'd go back 200 feet max. Since your new to saltwater fishing for large pelagic predators, I would only use one line. That lure will probably work fine, but I'm fond of bucktail lures with a small strip of fish fillet tipped on the hook. A lot of pelagic fish will sweep in behind your lure thinking it's food, but without the smell / taste of fish in the water the predator will often fall off and loose interest. Your strike rate will go way up if you tip your lure. Most people don't realize just how many fish come in to check out a lure only to get the idea something isn't right and fall back.
Either club the fish on the top of it's head or fill the gills with Rum from a squeezy bottle. Rum is probably the most humane method as it completely calms the fish.
Its insane to waste good rum on almost dead fish. Thats progressive green style nonsense. Did you ever see a shark filling up the gills of the fish he catches before he swallows them? I've seen this nonsense on some yt videos, such behavior always makes me question the sanity of my fellow humans. When I started fishing as a young boy I just threw the fish on land like everybody, they die from alone.
@@fritz3388 Yeah that's really fun, if you don't want to waste good Rum use cheap Rum or club it. When I said club it I didn't mean take it out on a date night, just to clarify lol
I look forward to seeing Steph's transition. First off... time to stop being so squeamish. If you're going to sail around the world, get used to "icky smelly" things. If you are going to live on the water, you are going to have to get used to icky, smelly things. And if you are going to participate in maintaining a sailing yacht while on the water and on the hard in 35 degree heat, you're going to have to lose the nails. It's only a matter of time. Time to embrace the wonderful world of living freely. I look forward to watching both of you grow. Fair winds!
Steph has dealt with living on the boat for over a year so it’s not a huge issue, not to worry. Also. The nails are real. Also a non issue. Nothing wrong with painting the nails if it’s an enjoying hobby during down time :) Thanks for watching !
Once you get much further South than Vero the ICW suuuuuucks. Acetone gets off most one-part paints and we always have some aboard for boat projects and fiberglassing.. I think regular nail polish remover is just acetone anyhow.
Yep you were absolutely right about the ICW down there and all those bridges! And yes, I (Steph) had acetone, not nail polish remover, but I don’t think travis knew they were pretty much the same thing hahah
I saw s beach full of these jelly fish in cuba I m told that it migrate or psss through cuba in januray They are an eye opener for sure. Pretty & deadly
I disagree i wouldn't shave her head but I may suggest maybe hiding the razors next time you will be out for a week or so 🤔 ya know let her sport some pit hair lol
Great video and a great job on the toenail painting.

I love how you guys are learning without fear!
You guys have really good production value on your vids, good content as well. Living the dream. Can’t wait to see your carribean adventures.
You guys were really funny in the early videos

You two are so cute! Love the longer video

Thanks for the suggestion! We’re going to look into that, we’d love to catch something big enough to pull the rod out of the holder 😂

Hey guys. Nice video. Do you have any footage of living on the boat in winter?
Too funny!

I think he secretly thinks they were pretty too...
Did you figure out what kind of fish you caught???lol. You can download Atlantic fish app. New subber:)
Crystal water, so beautiful.
,.... those jelly like fish, i think they are poisonous.
They are very painful if you get stung!
I saw s beach full of these jelly fish in cuba
I m told that it migrate or psss through cuba in januray
They are an eye opener for sure. Pretty & deadly
For the next time you catch a bonito/albie/lil' tunny: www.onthewater.com/recipe-yes-can-eat-albies
Check out Jackson O'Doherty or Kristen Hanby on YT for ideas to get her back. Lol it was funny though!
Haha will have to check those out!
You need to brain the fish to put it out of its misery and then bleed it to preserve the meat. Look up ikejime
WD-40 will take it off...how do I know?🤬
🤣🤣
I disagree i wouldn't shave her head but I may suggest maybe hiding the razors next time you will be out for a week or so 🤔 ya know let her sport some pit hair lol
