I work in a company and was part of the union for 5+ years. I agree with what the union stands for but sadly many people take advantage of the company with the Union protecting them. The protection from the union and the union contract can result in people having much entitlement without putting in their full effort. Not saying all the workers are this way but it isnt uncommon. This bad work ethic is why unions get a bad reputation. These big companies in turn will start outsourcing all the work they can anywhere else that will do it cheaper and if the opportunity presents itself, they will relocate the entire facility. Honest days work, honest days pay will keep everyone happy.

Unions are as much a part of capitalism as any other piece of the economy. All suppliers get to negotiate prices with Honda So why shouldn't suppliers of labor?
I had no idea there were _any_ automotive plants in the U.S. that weren't union (barring maybe some new startups). I used to work at a UAW plant, and the union did make it suck. But the union also resulted in shockingly high pay for very little work. I find it odd that supervisors at Honda are pushing back against unionization. Being a supervisor in a union is a perk, too. Your pay goes up because your employees' pay goes up. Your job is easier because there is a distinct set of rules that _everyone_ has to follow, and if an employee complains about the rules, you just direct them to their union rep. _And_ you aren't allowed to do any work yourself; you are _only_ allowed to _direct_ employees. The rigidness of everything is what makes it suck (no matter if you're in the union or a supervisor), but you can also make a good living for very little work (if you're into that sort of thing). Unions are a requirement because corporations are evil. Don't be evil, and your plant won't be turned into a hopelessly inefficient money pit by people who are tired of being abused and put in harm's way. Pretty simple.
@@JohnnyD1993 You've obviously never been in a (good) union or didn't bother to read my comment. There's a reason for the stereotype that union workers are lazy. In my department at that job, not a single worker worked beyond 50% capacity. That means every worker had *four hours* of downtime throughout the day, every day. People had secret beds and card rooms set up around the plant because they had so much idle time. Workers there were also paid about $24/hour (in 2014) when non-union shops were making about $15/hour for the same work, not to mention the annual profit sharing bonuses that were thousands of extra dollars each year on top of the regular pay. Shockingly high pay for very little work is the only way to describe that job.
@@NoName-ik2du so far we've learned - Unions defend bad workers that deliberately hurt the company - Workers are allowed to do fuck all for half of their shift - Supervisors become individuals that demand respect, not earn it - The pay is shockingly good compared to the competition for the _expected_ workload What else would you like to add to your list?
@@JohnnyD1993 Points 1,2, and 4 are correct and pretty much sum everything up. Point 3 is not. Union supervisors do not demand respect. What I said is they also have less to do in a union, so it makes their jobs easier as well. You may notice that all of these points are _in favor_ of a union.
A union would be good for Honda. But NOT the UAW. The UAW is terrible. If the line workers can come up with their own committees it would work out better.
Working at Honda might suck, but the UAW is a joke. They protect the worthless employees who like to lay out of work and they do nothing for the ones that work their asses off. They don't fight for the retirees either. Their demands have caused quality issues in the products and they have caused massive lay offs and job cuts. Be very careful what you wish for.

When i worked at bombardier completions center in arizona, they pretty much ran scared of unionization. They gathered the entire site and pretty much gave us $125 to not vote union. They started laying off and shortly after they shifted production elsewhere.
ABVV in Belgium has stood with me for most of my working life, I'm happy I have reps in the factory, nearly everyone is unionized in our factory!
Well, this just crossed off Honda from my list of next cars to buy.
😂 Have fun finding a reliable car then
You gotta realize all companies are shady/crap
It's human nature
@@Undertaker93Buy Mazda, most of their cars are made in Japan by unionized workers, and Consumer Reports puts their reliability very high, right next to Toyota.
And yet you do not see Mazdas from the eighty s and ninety's on the road because they are junk Mazda is not on the same planet as TOYOTA or Honda as far as consumer reports go pay me and I will tell everyone that your product is better than it is that's the American way
The current NLRB has to protected at all cost! 🙏🙏
It's unfortunate for Honda that the management allowed the working conditions to deteriorate in these factories to such a degree that the production employees are now pushing for a union as their only means to improve their conditions. I respect them for standing up and attempting to make things better for themselves and future generations of American workers.
Go Honda workers!
I hope you folks get a contact that benefits labor on helping making a safer work place with less injuries.
I hope you get pensions and life long healthcare💙💙💙
STANDING WITH the auto workers! Stay strong.
Dear Honda -- I am in the market for a hybrid SUV. I saw the documentary on Hyundai (1st or 2nd rated). I will not buy Hyundai because of their anti-union stance. And now Honda is on my DO NOT BUY list, too. #DoNotBuyHonda
And it's showing. Honda quality has decline substantially. If Honda Corporate wants their workers to assemble Honda vehicles to the brand's quality reputation specs, Honda Corporate will need to pay its workers a wage where they can afford the very vehicles they are building. When a Honda assembly line worker with 5 yrs of experience can't afford the payments on a 2023 CR-V for their family car, even with the employee purchase program discount, that's a big F'ing problem
As a Union Rep/Organizer who started as a Rank and File Member. It's all about collective power to make your workplace safer and get the pay/benefits that you deserve.
From a country where overwork to death (karoushi) is part of the culture.....
Are management should take note and get there head out there a$$
Solidarity, brothers and sisters. Hoping for your victory.
Honda does have a UAW parts facility in NJ
USW member here hoping these workers the best!Solidarity!
Will you help when they are unemployed standing in line feeling out forms
@@sabrehawk-427 Check your translator that came out wrong, it has to be cold under a bridge these days .
@@frankd.506 wow that was a good one cold under the bridge I have to remember that one you smart
So glad that the workers see through this and understand what Honda is doing.
Democracy in the workplace
You know how Delta airlines keeps a union out of the workplace? They actually PAY their mechanics and gives them benefits. Year-end bonuses and profit sharing. Flight benefits. Discounts. Swag. All that stuff.
Amen
The reason the mechanics get more money and benefits because they are trained to work on air planes and they are in demand if they piss off a mechanic he will back his truck up to the shop and load up his tools and have a job with another airline I bet the pilot makes more than crew to well that is not fare ether after all anyone can fly a airliner
I was with a company for 33 years. Then I retired .Because of the actions of my former company over my last ten years. I can definitely see why workers need a union in todays work force.
My first 'real' job was at a small printing shop that was too small for the giant GAIU to unionize but our employers gave us nearly the same compensation as one of Chicago's large printing outfit.
What sucks is if these big companies would treat there employees fairly, there would be no need for a union. But they insist on hammering there employees, firing them for a slight mistake so they dont have to give raises. Greed is all it is
This is the same story at every single work place across the country! Cheaper for the Company to break the laws then to follow them, so..............!
Makes me sad to hear this, I bought a Honda and I want to support Honda co. But not if they’re mistreating people who help build the vehicles we buy.
Every car made in the last 15 years got more cameras than an iPhone and you don't get any say on what data is sent either from the car or your phone if you connect it to your car
This is the frontline war in America! Workers must take back their power! This is class war and the ONLY way to change business in America! More power to these workers!! I hope and pray that they can do it
Unions made our country better
Anyone wonder why things have gone downhill in the last 30 years?
This is one reason!
The idea of employment protection, income security..
That by working for a company that company is compelled to take care of you until retirement..is false in todays times
Unions are as much a part of capitalism as any other piece of the economy. All suppliers get to negotiate prices with Honda So why shouldn't suppliers of labor?
Just the fact that any vehicles are being manufactured in the US, by non UAW companies is unconscionable.
Union solidarity.
Cool it with that disinformation.
Manufacturing work pays shockingly high for very little work?
@@NoName-ik2du so far we've learned
- Unions defend bad workers that deliberately hurt the company
- Workers are allowed to do fuck all for half of their shift
- Supervisors become individuals that demand respect, not earn it
- The pay is shockingly good compared to the competition for the _expected_ workload
What else would you like to add to your list?
True, the grass ain’t any greener over there.
I have seen videos of people complaining about the same exact thing they are talking about in this video and they were already part of a Union that has been in that building for 30+ years
A union with balls! Strong and aggressive! 💪
Solidarity!
Remember, you are a worker, not a slave
Greed Corrupt and Corporate Welfare leads the work place. UNIONISM
We need unions in every industry, and the government needs to make it a right to strike and unionize
The people need to take action and tell the government not wait for the government..just saying…UNIONIZE 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Not me. Unions are another tax. They do nothing. The Owner runs the company. Period. Don't like the job, then quit.
@@smokingjoe9864Union buster or that severely uninformed?
@@frankd.506 China has the largest union in the world. Unions are communist. I believe in free Capitalism. Let's say you bought a company. Some general labor employees come in and demand satisfaction. Are you going to appease their demands. You own the place. You believe they are treated fairly. I would fire them. At will employment. Those guys knew what the job was when they got hired.
@@frankd.506 let's tell another scenario. You bring your vehicle to the garage. Quoted 700 dollars. Pick up the car and they charge you 850. Why? The employee felt he was worth more. He took the job at an agreed upon rate and conditions. Factories have always been dangerous. You work injured like the rest of us. Take an aspirin. Stitches are common. Factories were for the tough drunken Irishman.
It's wild how they get away with this obvious abuse of power again and again.
Go work for BMW then or Audi or VW or Mercedes.

This is why Honda has had bad production. Ever since move operations to the US . Probably better to just take production back to Japan . To many complainers in the workplace here. I work at the dealership level and the amount of stuff we have to fix do to factory issues used to never happen.
Buy vehicles where the vin starts with a j-made in Japan.
Always going to medical with a work related injury. The company doctor would say you did it at home . Advil and ice . Thank God for the UAW
Unions came into being because of corporate greed. We're in another cycle of greed. Unionize to balance the scales.
I am surprise they didn’t get fired for trying to form a union. Usually union formation is very low key.
You never work for anyone. You should always consider yourself self employed and a business as your customer. You succeed by helping them succeed. When your customers aren’t making money, you find new customers. Never keep a job more than 5 years. Never ever tell your coworkers anything true about yourself or your life. Don’t use a mortgage to buy a house. If you put yourself in debt with large payments now you are always panicked at the thought of having to look elsewhere for work. Also never stop looking for a new job even when you’re happy with your current one.
When upper management or managers get aggressive that tells you that they are in fear
How is Honda at the bottom of the barrel? We have a 5 star safety rating and we are top 5 in reliability. Also, how will a union reduce workplace incidents? This is ridiculous Honda is a great company to work for.
Pay is severely too low. Safety is sub par.
I am a Honda associate. Not management and I can confidently say this is not true. Honda is a fantastic company to work for. I challenge anyone who says pay is terrible to go on their local job postings and show something with a better Starting pay at entry level. I can confidently say that you will not.

I’ve had a union job for like 8 years now and love it. It definitely has its perks but the union also fights for the lazy and the worthless. We have people who literally do nothing all day, find every loophole they can not to work. One of them actually got fired for sleeping in his car and the union fought to bring him back that was years ago and still dont think i ever seen him do anything since
