Between this episode, “Only Mime Will Tell”, and “Homeward Bound”, how would you rank Lori and Luan’s leading roles of season eight? Here’s my list (from best to worst): “Only Mime Will Tell” “Homeward Bound” “Trouble Brewing” Reply to this comment!
Useless fun fact (but I DO think that this is worth mentioning): This was the first episode to close on a "fade-out" instead of a "cut to black" or an "iris out".
Yeah, when I first found out about this episode, I was initially displeased with this episode, and judging by my research, I agree with you that Trouble Brewing is crap. First of all, while most people say that Lori's behaviour was unprofessional whilst having Luan as her boss, personally, I don't blame Lori for causing friction with Luan. After all, how can Lori even trust Luan when she was the biggest contributor to sabotaging Lori's chances of getting her own apartment in Homeward Bound? If anything, from Lori's perspective, having your boss be one of your own family that sabotaged you has to be one of the biggest insults of your life, regardless of if they're just doing their job or not.
@lfraycray I used Homeward Bound as a point of reference to back up my opinion. I never said anything about encouraging Lori's behaviour in this episode, I just gave out a possible reason for Lori's behaviour. Simply put, I don't support Lori's behaviour in this episode, but I do understand where she's coming from.
Even I was confused on the two customers Lori greeted as her friends Carol and Roger when their designs looked nothing like the kind we know of and how Carol and Roger actually looked. As Kronk would say and I quote, “By all accounts it doesn’t make sense.”
One thing I will say about this episode, although I didn't mind it, it is strange how it acts as if both Lori and Luan were both in the wrong, to the point Luan has to say sorry, despite not really have a reason to apologize at all. Lori was blatantly in the wrong, acting spiteful towards Luan instead of trying to talk it out with her, yet had the gall to be angry when Luan rightfully started to do payback on her for her horrible behavior. Really, I felt bad for Luan more than Lori, given the former showed she has matured more than the person who is supposedly close to being an adult at this point in the show.
I did forget to mention that when writing the script. Even though I understood what she was getting at, Luan’s apology wasn’t really warranted. She didn’t do anything wrong as far as her managerial position was concerned. Yeah, maybe she shouldn’t have stooped to Lori’s level, but her big sister forced her hand.
@@SteamTeamRedubUK Honestly, Luan stooping to Lori's level was understandable to me, since I really get the feeling Lori would've kept up her behavior at work had Luan not decided to get revenge. Luan was clearly hurt her big sister was being spiteful over her simply criticizing her performance.
1:38 ever since I saw the episode 1 season 8 I thought lori would work at her father's family restaurant as a manager ? Did the staff who worked on the show Didn't look the previous seasons or season 8 is a TLH alternate universe it does explain luna have one earing but not both sides and not just 8 but also 4
While yeah Lori's actions were 100% unjustified since Luan wasn't being a jerk boss, her actions never bothered me even though I can see why they would bother me. Guess it's a case of I see the problem but the problem don't bother me. And while I don't think the episode is bad I wouldn't really say "too" good as nothing really made me laugh or stood out. Overall "there" episode but definitely more positive then negative, least on my end. 3/5 ( or 3.5/5 but I don't like giving .5s only whole numbers) Peace out Homeslice
Dang, I don’t know what to say. When I finished this one, I thought it was an alright one and felt that the nostalgia from the older seasons was cool, but when I realized that you think those kinds of elements don’t fit these days, especially Lori’s character, it kinda hit me. Considering how long this show has been going on, and all of us growing up with it, I can understand how thoughts can change through time, and your review is a perfect example of that. Considering all the improving Lori has done since Season 5 till now, I understand why you and others, wanted her to keep this new persona, and I agree as her new nice self truly is a step up, and I can understand why going back to her bossy self can rub people the wrong way, while pleasing those with nostalgia such as myself. We’re all different at the end of the day, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Luan was the best character here, and I can understand why you and others may dislike Lori when all Luan was doing was her job. Overall, your review surprised me. It made me realize the severe flaws with this one, and I have to respect you for that. Didn’t realize how big they were until you pointed them out and noticed how right you were. This is definitely one I might be cautious now going forward. Only highlight was definitely the ending. Great review home slice, much love and respect for you, and I hope you have a great day today.❤️
Lori’s character arc throughout the series has always been one of the most fascinating, in my opinion. As we’ve grown with the series starting back in 2016, so has her character. She’s one of the few where she is noticeably in a much different place several seasons in than she was all the way back in the beginning, another example being Leni. Bear in mind, my reviews are not done as a way of trying to set any sort of record straight, unless absolutely necessary. It’s just a collection of my thoughts on what I’m viewing and I’m not expecting everyone to be on my side or flip their positions. Everyone will have their takes and so will I, but I guess if I was able to get someone to change their perception, then that’s fine. Everyone changes their opinions and I’m no exception. Thanks for stopping by as usual, dude. May your Sunday be good and peaceful.
@@SteamTeamRedubUK It truly is fascinating seeing these characters grow up and change like we do. And no matter what happens, homie, regardless of differences, you’ll never see me fighting against you and thinking you’re wrong in any regards. I will always listen, understand, and properly reflect on your thoughts like a respectful and mature person, and I have to say, after all these years of a being a fan of you and your work, it truly has made me realize that regardless of what we think of anything, we should always be respectful and mature, and not let others thoughts get in our heads the wrong way, you know? Point is, your content has made my life so much better, and I can’t thank you enough for that bro. I love you, you’re welcome, thank you, and same with you.😌❤️
I thought this episode was okay. It's nice to see Lori and Luan finally get some screen time together, but there’s a lot of awkward things about it. Luan having a job at the Bean despite her previous one at the Burpin Burger never getting mentioned, Lori suddenly having a meltdown like her season 1 self (although of I were being bossed by my younger sibling, I might have gotten a tad vindictive too... though not to the level she had here) and of course I can't forget the about the completely *face palm worthy* mistake that was Lori addressing "Carol" and "Roger" despite it clearly not being either of them. I honestly still have no idea how the hell that happened. I wouldn't call it one of the shows worst episodes, but it's overall kind of weak.
Yeah.....I don't know what the writers are doing with this episode with the changes and Lori.... 😓 I still enjoy it, but what you said about the changes and Lori's behavior during this episode, I can understand why it was a downgrade to Lori's episode and why you didn't enjoyed it. 😞 Still feels like a classic episode to the show, but I understand why it feels out of place during the Rubiner era. Great review, bro, and I accept your opinion on this episode. 😌
Thanks for understanding, dude. While the classic vibes are always appreciated, sometimes it’s the timing of when such an episode is released can make it either good or bad. Everyone has a different take on that, and that’s what makes fan conversation all the more interesting. 🙂
Yeah…..this episode wasn’t too good for me personally. The biggest issue for me was how Lori was way more in the wrong than Luan was. Luan was only doing her job, and Lori was brand new to the Burnt Bean procedures. Plus Lori even told Luan to not give her any special treatment. So for Lori to “get even” with Luan when she was babysitting was so unfair and petty. So Luan getting back at Lori soon after was a lot more warranted. Thankfully the ending was nice with Luan taking the reins with Lori’s mistake with seniors and both sisters making up. But yeah, this episode definitely could’ve been a lot better.😓 5/10
I was wondering if this was going to be similar to "The Waiting Game" because both have them had one of her siblings (Lincoln in the former, and Luan here) get her a job. Now it turns it wasn’t similar to that and it’s more about Luan and Lori butting heads which… well let’s begin the review. I liked the Lori was happy (at first) to be working with Luan and that Luan was trying to each her how to her the job (even if she did overstep the boundaries a bit) I liked the song that Lori and Luan sang (both times when they both sung it and when only one of them sung it) I liked Paarag and his desire to stay out of the conflict that Lori and Luan where having was good and relatable. Lori given the seniors a very caffeinated drink was funny and her, Luan and Paarag all working together to solve the crisis that arouse from that was good. The ending scene was also sweet. apart all that? well…. I’m sure whose side I’m on Luan might’ve overstepped her boundaries and rather than showing her how to it the job the proper way, it could be said she was trying to get Lori to do the job HER way. Then again WAS just trying to get Lori do the job properly and Lori’s actions seems more malicious to a degree. However, Luan wasn’t much better in forcing Lori to drive two miles away and then getting upset with her for being late. Certainly, both were being very petty which makes rotting for either hard if not impossible. The ending felt…a little rushed to me, There was a conflict in it but it felt…too easily solved. I felt it was way too small scale for the ending to have the impact that they wanted it to have. I also felt that Lori was a little more unreasonable in her actions, as again Luan WAS just trying to get her to do her job. Maye if they had Luan act be more of an unreasonable and/or unhelpful boss to Lori then it would been better. As is I fell there was no good “in universe” reason for Lori to get as mad as she did and it was only done because the plot needed her to do so. While I acknowledge that here (unlike in “bulking and sulking”) it’s just the KIDS who are acting like jerks, the issues is Lori went to college so she really needs to start acting like an adult. I know about the episode needs conflict but they could have done better. The other issue is that if Lori needed a job….why didn’t she just work at Lynn’s table like she did back in" Can't Hardly Wait"? she was shown to be a manger for the restaurant and I find it hard to believe that Lynn wouldn’t hire her for that job condering she was good at it and that the other kids help out too. The episode gives NO reason why she can’t work there and it suffers from it. To fix this this what they could have done was have it still be about Lori and Luan working together at the burnt bean but have them get into a competition for some big bonus that would go to the best worker. Lori and Luan would let the competition get the better of them and cause a slight disruption in the workplace by doing so during ones of the store’s busiest days (this would be foreshowed before). They would then need to work together with Paarag to deal with the huge crowds and either share the bonus and the credit that came with it or give to Paarag as they feel his deserves it more. I know that its very similar to other episodes such as “intern for the worse” and 'A Dish Come True' but it could have been better. as is I feel that this one is…not great I guess it’s not terrible either but my least or 2nd least favorite of the ones that premiered around it. I guess it’s like “hide and sneak” from 7th season (though thankfully it’s not nearly as bad as that one) where while the ending to both is sweet it doesn’t make up for the issues I had with the episode overall. 5/10
Honestly, I couldn’t agree more! If Lori just snapped at her, that would be fine! This could’ve had more emotion too! Like, maybe just have Lori snap and rage quit and Luan starting to cry and Lori feeling bad about snapping at her and also tearing up and wiping Luan’s tears. Or maybe just have Lori feel really horrible about what she did and giving a tearful apology.
Wow. I do understand your thoughts and why others didn't like the episode. But i still enjoyed it, regardless. I know that Lori, in this episode, rubbed people the wrong way. Yes i do agree that we all enjoyed her new role being much better than season 1. The song her and Luan sang was the best. But I'll accept you and the others thoughts on this episode. But i actually liked it a bit. A 6.5/10 for me. Great review, homie. Hope you have a safe Sunday. ❤️🤙
This episode was pretty bad and definitely took a step back to Lori‘s character And why does she need a job at the coffee shop in the first place where she could’ve just work with her dad‘s restaurant and why they Luan also worked at the coffee shop despite working at burp and burger last time like I just said, I didn’t like Laura’s character and I definitely agree with majority of people saying that Lori was in the wrong in this episode but I also find Luan just as annoying now granted she was doing her job so I give her some credit for that, but I don’t buy that she is the manager at all first of all she wasn’t a manager in burp burger manager in and how she performed that episode how the hell she got the manager in the first place and she has no experience as a person who does business manager major in college I learned in hiring a manager needs to have someone with experience and needs to be good at it so yeah, this is probably the worst episode of season 8 so far and it’s kind of funny how I didn’t call any other episodes this season bad until this episode the second to last episode of the season technically because the European road trip story arc hasn’t aired into the USA yet
And speaking of I know Mr Grouce let lori to stay în her garrage But paying her means a little meanspirited And I know that But he was happy being back and I thought the payment was ,,Teaching him to golf "
From working at a job that I used to have before everyone's job there got eliminated, having that type of unhealthy behavior in both Homeward Bound and Trouble Brewing is very unacceptable, even if you're the boss or the employee. I know that because one time, I almost got fired because I was taking horrible care of myself and I did not take the job very seriously. As for Lori and Luan in this episode, both of their behaviors toward each other both on and off the job were so disrespectful and naughty that I can't take either side of the argument because of their awful attitudes. In my opinion, If that type of behavior existed at a job I work at they would be fired immediately. In fact, they both should've been fired from Burnt Bean because of what they did, but since they apologized and worked together at the end, things worked out better. It's always about teamwork than just being an 'I' in "team".
I want a much better episode with Lori and Luan together since the Season 7 episode “Pranks Fore Nothing”, which sees Luan help Lori with a prank battle against a rival golf school…
Terrible episode 1/10 The concept with lori and luan working together sounds good on paper but was executed horribly. Lori is extremely unlikeable and hypocritical. She says she wants to be treated the way every else is working there but she gets all mad atluan when she does. I'm not even mad at luan here. She was only doing her job! Lori acted the way she was back in season 1! Ugh this episode sucks! Your tone throughout most this review is how I feel about this episode. Good review.
While I do see how this episode can be seen as a downgrade for Lori’s character, I personally found it to be very relatable as I’ve been in Lori’s EXACT shoes. She probably was acting very egotistical when at the house, but it honestly could’ve been a whole lot worse. Besides that, everything else felt fine to me, and this episode did retain its slice of life nature, so at least no one can complain about that. So while others may not like it, I actually enjoyed this due to relating to personal experience. 8.5/10
If there's one silver lining in all of this it's that Lori is finally getting a job instead of going to a university based on a pathetic sport. Though she really needs to move into the Loud House as she wouldn't have to pay rent. On a side note, I'm surprised you didn't point out that Carol was supposed to appear, but was changed at the last minute with a different looking character.
I didn't like Lori in this episode. The ways she retaliated against Luan (e.g. making her clean the gutters at night, remaking milkshakes like Lori had to keep remaking coffee, not getting Luan the pizza she wanted, interrupting her call with her boyfriend Benny, making her go to bed early) reminded me of season 1 Lori.
Overall, I did in fact like this episode for what it was, considering all of the amusing moments and plots, and being 1 of the very few Luan/Lori episodes we got - I just appreciate the Day in the Limelight episodes many series offer! I would give it an 8.9/10! Oh, SteamTeamRedub, I wanna do this with ya. Try to guess each episode based on these quotes. "I am Lincoln. 2 of mah sisters are fighting, and I like to open my big mouth." "My mom blamed me just for everything that happened while I was trying to buy a treat." "Hey I'm a dumb Lisa and I wanna blame my brother for stuff I will not do."
Have you ever met people in real life who happen to share the same first name? That’s probably the reason. Granted, nearly every name in the series has been mutually exclusive to a certain character design, but that’s just a hot take of mine.
@SteamTeamRedubUK I mean I guess that makes sense. It just seems a bit coincidental both of them shared the name of two of her high school friends lol Then again, I'm a bit surprised *more* characters in this show don't share names at this point.
The one question I have with this episode is...what happened to that lady from The Write Stuff? The woman with the blonde ponytail that had the same blue streak Sam's hair does? I always thought THAT lady was the boss, not the woman we saw here
This episode almost made me quit the show due to either Carol and Roger either redesigned or that they have been replaced by two different characters while they use their name. If they come back with those designs again, I may have to quit the show
Plot twist- there is more than one Carol and Roger from Lori’s school, just like how in real life there can be multiple students attending one school with the same first name but different last name.
@SteamTeamRedubUK did they seriously forget who Carol and Roger are? Or did they not like their old designs because they resemble Lori and Clyde, respectively? I know I'm jumping into conclusions but HOW IN THE SAM HILL DID THEY NOT CHECK BEFORE THEY AIR IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?!
SteamTeamRedubUK, there's also another glaring inconsistency I'm surprised you didn't mention. It's the sence where Lori greets the two customers sitting at the table as her old classmates, Carol and Roger, despite them bearing no resemblance to them.

I guess it’s like “hide and sneak” from 7th season (though thankfully it’s not nearly as bad as that one) where while the ending to both is sweet it doesn’t make up for the issues I had with the episode overall. 5/10
Intern and Dish did a better job, BTW!
Despise appearing cameo I bet Lincoln trap is inspire by Kara and her previous episode
And I REALLY hope Lori doesn't revert back to her season 1 personality in season 9.
Also, I want more episodes with Lori and Luan together!
And speaking of I know Mr Grouce let lori to stay în her garrage
But paying her means a little meanspirited
And I know that
But he was happy being back and I thought the payment was ,,Teaching him to golf "
I asked myself that exact same question 1:14 You know ? And I don't get it I thought luan have successful business at funny business ?
This episode ruined all the growth Lori went through from S1. I hate it when writers ignore character development and growth for the sake of the plot
At least this episode is better than A dish come true from season 7.
Or Beg, Borrow, and Steele for that matter.
@bobkolterjahn4266 yeah, both episodes suck but I hate a dish come true more
While I do see how this episode can be seen as a downgrade for Lori’s character, I personally found it to be very relatable as I’ve been in Lori’s EXACT shoes. 8.5/10
yeah, I am also trying to with you on this one. I can also kind of relate to Lori in this episode as Luan also did get on my nerves in this episode
Me neither, man!
2 of mah sisters are fighting, and I like to open my big mouth."
"My mom blamed me just for everything that happened while I was trying to buy a treat."
"Hey I'm a dumb Lisa and I wanna blame my brother for stuff I will not do."
Didn't this episode have that big screw up where Lori calls two people Carol and Roger, only its definitely not them?
Have you ever met people in real life who happen to share the same first name? That’s probably the reason. Granted, nearly every name in the series has been mutually exclusive to a certain character design, but that’s just a hot take of mine.
@SteamTeamRedubUK I mean I guess that makes sense. It just seems a bit coincidental both of them shared the name of two of her high school friends lol
Then again, I'm a bit surprised *more* characters in this show don't share names at this point.
@SteamTeamRedubUK True, but it's rare that I meet a duo of people who have the same names as another duo
I want the old Carol Pingrey and Roger to come back…
I agree with the episode review. I give it a 4/10.
If they come back with those designs again, I may have to quit the show
What did you think of the episode in general?
Plot twist- there is more than one Carol and Roger from Lori’s school, just like how in real life there can be multiple students attending one school with the same first name but different last name.
It's a 3/10
@@christopherjordan6235and for me, it's a 1/10
@SteamTeamRedubUK did they seriously forget who Carol and Roger are? Or did they not like their old designs because they resemble Lori and Clyde, respectively?
I know I'm jumping into conclusions but HOW IN THE SAM HILL DID THEY NOT CHECK BEFORE THEY AIR IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?!
SteamTeamRedubUK, there's also another glaring inconsistency I'm surprised you didn't mention. It's the sence where Lori greets the two customers sitting at the table as her old classmates, Carol and Roger, despite them bearing no resemblance to them.
They were likely changed at the last minute.
