His music is not = depression. When a person is already in depression the music some how calms, because it feels like somebody can understand your feelings, at least feel something similar and it helps to deal with the feelings. And it is beautyful...

Just "I was born into this, everything turns to shit." Is dark enough. curious of something that'd be darker. This song and Valentine's Day by Marilyn Manson are dark as shit without being cliche or sophomoric.

Interestingly enough, this song was inspired by a wedding. Manson reluctantly attended a close friend’s wedding, but most of the people there knew him from before he was “Marilyn Manson”. So it was uncomfortable for him, being “the boy they loved” and now “the man that they fear”.

I watched this music video so many times when I listen to this song I close my eyes and play it back in my head. I can't get enough of this. such a masterpiece.
Why this song never became as popular as most of their other stuff is beyond me. Honestly I don't like most of what Manson put out, but the slower, creepier, more atmospheric shit is on point. The vibe of this song is genuinely disturbing. That's tough to do without coming off campy. I mean the last line-"The world in my hands there's no one left to hear you scream" I mean damn. That's pretty great.
Does anyone notice the similarity between the concept of this album and that of the rise and fall of ziggy stardust by david bowie. sure, they are VERY different styles of music but marilyn manson has said before that his biggest influence has been david bowie. just a thought.

unbelievably great lyrics and music. sort of reminds me of ok computer in a way. maybe the glockenspiel and the use of a robotic voice at the end, coupled with electronic choire voices and very dark lyrics. im sure yorke would approve if he could bring himself to admit this music is great.

@MisterVidicus No, I get it, most artists teach to be yourself, but I was wondering - because he writes about our darker sides - whether he really wanted to put something across, or whether he just borrowed the dark image because it was cool to appear different (the shock value, the black, etc). I got the answer that he believes what he writes and it's not for fame, so I'm happy about that. :) No-one can be anyone else, so to believe in an artist would mean being yourself, rather than imitating
The lyrics go off opposite meanings Moon and Sun Earth and Hell. It's like Heaven all of it goes cool when it grows eyes to destroy Earth through silly people of Slatington, Pennsylvania where a lie bout The Devil started.
This reminds me of when I felt ignored, hated and a failure. I turned to music, never to the blade though. I wanted to live on to make everyone see my suffering and feel guilty.
