    THE FIRST FRAME-MOUNT FAIRING was on a '77 BMW R100RS.
    It was designed in a
    "WIND-TUNNEL," by
    Hans Muth.
    I had one.

      RickyNotSoMartin You will absolutely love the bike, I must say, the new engine is pretty impressive! Try to hop on one of the Dark Horse or Limited Challengers so you can experience the upgraded abs/traction control technology.

  • @THEelduderino

    You’re correct, that is a base so no electronic package, if you get the Limited or Dark Horse, you get the lean sensitive ABS IMU & ride modes. Limited comes w/ engine guards, Indian now has lower close out accessories you can add. Test rode a Challenger straight off my Road Glide Special M8, cammed, staged & tuned, stock Challenger was noticeably quicker, handled better & had better Brembos. Harleys trim fit n finish was nicer, but power & handling are far apart

    There is more than a hint of jealousy from the retractors of this very good Indian motorcycle. Being a fan boy of any motorcycle company clouds your judgement of opposition products and you look through rose colour glasses at the bikes your favourite company produces.

      BBQ Nut nothing wrong with the Victory Magnum it is a wonderful bike.
      But
      Magnum has a batwing fairing, the Challenger has a frame mounted fairing.
      Magnum has a 21 inch front wheel, the challenger 19inch
      Magnum front fork rake 29 degree, Challenger 25 degree
      Magnum oil & air cooled, Challenger liquid cooled
      Magnum rider modes nil, Challenger 3
      Magnum no traction control, challenger yes
      Motor performances, chalk and cheese
      Both great bikes.

      @BBQ Nut I have a Magnum and this is not a rebadged Magnum although it is a Vic design which started off as a 180 horsepower engine and the sheer power was blowing out crank cases. Its been in development for 5 years or so. the RoadGlide, Challenger, Magnum are all great bikes, but Harley has its work cut out for them and I'm sure they will rise to the occasion

    The Metzler tires on this bike you can buy for any bike they are not exclusive to the Indian challenger. To many miss leading information on that. The horse power and torque is claimed to be to the ground. Once tunes and performance parts are made for it the sleeping beast will be a great power house.

    Harley was the first one to use the removable shark nose fairing that’s stand alone. On other bikes like the gold wing and vicaro there’s a lot to come off to remove the fairing, but the new challenger isn’t so new either. It was originally designed to be a victory that’s why the front light is in a v shape. I’d ride one maybe

I've ridden the Chieftain 111 and 116 and I've also ridden the Street Glide with the 107. I'm not keen on the HDs.. they just don't fit me right. I loved the Chieftain and was planning to buy one until the Challenger came out. Its getting so many great reviews that I need to ride it before I decide.

  • @MrMatlock79

    I rode the bike during demo days. Bike had gobs of power...but I just can't get past the looks. Everything is so, "blocky". It looks like it was put together with legos and plastic trim covering everything up. The dash had a cheap plastic look to it. I feel the HD Street Glide and Road Glide fit and finish is just better over all. I like the "machine" look of a Harley. The competition is great, and Indian makes a fine motorcycle, but my hat is off to the HD's still. There is also another video kicking about where the Challenger was dynoed and measured to the back wheel. While it performed better than a stock 114 M8, it was not heads and shoulders above.

    • @mikekosar6135
      @mikekosar6135 4 роки тому +3

      I loved the review of the rider coming from his 114 m8 road glide.. rider was 325lbs.. the Indian broke traction and tore off while he was in 2nd gear.. when he cranked on throttle.. not modded.. no stage anything.. witch means to me not throwing thousands of $$at the bike after spending tens of thousands purchasing

    • @MattMntk
      @MattMntk 4 роки тому +3

      The Indian has 33% more horsepower and 5% more torque than the 114 M8. If that horsepower difference ISN'T head and shoulders over a 114, then what IS?
      2020 RGS hp/wt ratio = 11.2 lbs per HP
      2020 Challenger hp/wt ratio = 8.2 lbs per HP
      That ratio difference is literally the same difference between a V6 Mustang and a Mustang GT 5.0. So...you saying that the Mustang GT with a V8 isn't head and shoulders above a V6 model?

    • @MrMatlock79
      @MrMatlock79 4 роки тому

      Matt S , like I said, it was a video kickin’ around UA-cam. Not necessarily related to this bike, but I do think that the “Ride Mode” gives a perceived feeling of power when twisting the throttle. Make no mistake, as I originally stated, this bike had gobs of power, but riding both bikes (117 M8 Roadglide), I personally felt the bikes were comparable. I think the ride mode of the Challenger made the biggest change in the “feel” of the power in the bike.
      Not saying your wrong at all, just my opinion.
      Happy Thanksgiving 👍

    Nice fair review. I bought a 2010 Victory Vision Touring last summer after a 30 year hiatus from motorcycling. I am 6'5" tall and 290 lbs. I am amazed at the comfort and handling of the bike. I have never riden a Harley that can out corner it, and I have no prejudice against Harley. Polaris has deep pocket and are innovative. The new Indians are just an extension of what started with Victory. In the long run, it will be good for Harley. If you don't listen to your customers you will lose them. Maybe they will start listening!

    Indian’s always been a performance driven company. This bike’s engine is built for performance and is like the BMW K1600B and it’s interpretation of what a Touring Bagger should look and perform like. Indian with a huge 320mm brake rotors and 4 piston Brembo’s, to it’s inverted fork, all reflect Sports bike features. An electric windscreen and water cooled are long overdue elements to an evolved Touring bike. Demand from “the people” who have spoken clearly what was missing. Indian has listened. Well done Indian. Naysayers, there will always be. Change is slow but change will happen. Harley Davidson is an American icon, but...got got way too comfortable. Ride safe, ride often. “Life’s short, just buy the bike”.

      Its better than ALL Harley D's Hows that. ? Ill say my piece on this. I have more miles backing out of my garage in January than most of you have total. So I can say I know my shit without issue. Harley hasnt made a good bike since 1966. They have been living off a reputation of a sound and shit performance since. They are trying to do a little bit right but sorry to say it isnt enough and way to late. When you go buy a brand new evo and the base gaskets are blown out because the jugs are warped from junk spin cast methods how long do you think it will be before people say fuck off. I know how old I am and the originals are all but gone. So nothing left but the posers wannbies and they are all in the late 40s and thrown in the towel. If you really ride ? Like 14k a year minimum. A Harley is the last bike you consider. Being on two wheels is a choice of transportation. If you want to pose by all means buy one and spend what you want. Personally there is no comparison. And anyone who says different just wants to lie to save what they have which is ?? well shit they sell you junk for way to much and you still want to turn a blind eye to the crap they have sold you for so long.? Sounds to me like they are a lot smarter than the customers they have. ..LOL

      @@GenZBiker No not really an Indian fan . I get annoyed at times how die hard Harley guys go blind to the junk Harley put out and still sit and say they wont change knowing how may times they have broke down, got raped by the dealer and paid more than anyone should ever pay for a bike. One thing for sure know one can say the HD riders are not faithful. It just kills me to see guys spend all that cash and get junk. If they ever rode a good bike they would really flip. Im a fan of any bike someone builds themselves first and foremost. And if just 2 out of 8 took the same amount of cash and had a simple cruiser done with a S&S motor and any well sorted frame with good Brembo's and suspension the ride quality would be night and day. Not to mention rock solid dependability and stopping. Now there are Harleys that run, run well and are dependable but the real ones are pretty old now. I had a 71 xlch with a weld on rear hard tail section and a 45 springer. No front brake rear juice only. I put 33k on it in two years in MICH. The friggin pot holes on Southfield were so bad if you hit one you would change lanes. I never had 1 mechanical break down. I had the rear strut rattle lose on one side. thats all. But 99% of that is knowing how to build them. You can make most of them stay together but it takes time and experience. If you dedicated guys would quit buying them they would be forced to build a better bike. I promise you they can, but they dont need to because they sell all the make. Quick story, my neighbor was a 1% I have had every thing you can think of once prolly. Suzy's Hondas, Bridgestones, Yam, Every year on xmas morning me and a few of my buddies go to breakfast on our bikes. This particular year was very cold. I cant remember but safe to say it was 20 or less at 8 am x-mas morning in Mi. I hit the start button on my CB 900 custom Honda. and the oil sounds like 90 w glue. So Im all bundled up I roll it into the street and start pushin,... hard. Get it rollin and jump up slam my scrawny ass down and dump the clutch. It gently skids to a stop. Didnt even turn it over. I get my breath and get ready to do it again. My neighbor is on his porch brown bath robe and hair. I though it was big foot for a second. he is standing there with a jump box and extension cord. he says you want to jump that thing? I said yea and one of your buddies will happen by see you jumping this and may shoot both of us. He says yea id like to see that. He says you have more miles backing out of your driveway in Jan than these new guys got total. he said remember its not what you ride, its if you ride period. I said then there are the stupid ones who dont own a car. He said maybe you will get one for xmas. He was a very cool guy Rip Deck.

    My heart lusts after these Indian motorcycles. But my brain worries about things like proprietary tires. For one, they can charge whatever they want for replacements (ever see the prices of their accessories?). And, two, you cant even be sure replacements will even be available.

    • @GenZBiker
      @GenZBiker  4 роки тому

      When you buy a car do you always use the factory tire when they need to be replaced? No! Use what ever tire you want. Just because they made this tire specific to the design of this bike doesn’t mean other tires won’t work! I highly recommend you give it a shot & go for a test ride 🙏🤙
